EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gutch together with Colombian Minister for Trade Sergio Diaz-Granados Guida and Peruvian Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade Carlos Posada Ugaz, celebrated Wednesday in Brussels the initialling of an ambitious trade agreement between the EU, Colombia and Peru.     The financial flows between Peru & Colombia and the EU are miniscule compared to the Brasil-Foxconn (Taiwan) deal, but the process by which it came about is of fundimental importance to South America.

    The model now exists.

    It eases the path to future EU-SA trade agreements, and sets the key elements and general parameters that need to be incorporated in future trade (etc) agreements, especially those involving Mercosur.

    Well done all negotiators for keeping the Eye on the Prize.
