The best way to mitigate the increasing oil price is to minimize using fuel if not necessary stop using personal vehicles ride with public buses and trains. Stop F1 and other fuel intensive sports. Car racing is a none sense kind of hobby or sports it's a wasteful of fuel and adding Global warming. I hope UN will draft a policies to stop all kind of sports that just wasting of fuel.

Oil will become unavailable for many nations/regions sooner than we think.

Fuel oil will be permitted for production/manufacture & movement of essential goods. Privately owned cars will become less common, and 2or3-conventional-car-families will be just a memory.

For many regions of the developing world where development will probably never reach, and for the permanent undeveloped world, the horse/bullock & cart will remain - or return to be - the standard mode of rural transport. This could even happen in western Europe.
For the really poor, of course, Shank's Pony will be, as ever, the only option.

    Fitter and leaner?
Until money as well as oil run out - Yes, for the rural poor.
In towns & cities, cars and coronaries for the rich and people-clogged public transport and bronchial diseases for the rest of us.

I'm not a soothsayer of doom; I just think the problems that come with high populations and limited localised availability of resources will hit us, and hit us harder than most people realise, before worldwide solutions become available.

I think Al Gore have done nothing with you and your country, what he did is to save the Earth. We feel now the effect of Global warming and not only Al Gore and America will suffer but all of us if we'll not cooperate and continue wasting fossil fuels. There is no such things as end of the world but death is your end. And nobody escape of death however in natural way but not with calamity because of the consequence of Climate Change. So STOP F1 AND CAR RACING SPORTS

People like you make me sick. You hide behind articles that are written by people who just want to be controversial. The evidence for Climate Change is astounding, believe me, I've studied it. But what is more astounding is people's callousness and laziness. Just because a VERY small aspect of the scientific community disagree with climate change people feel as if that's excuse enough to do nothing. You are one of those people with a short-term mind and a lazy attitude intent on killing you own children.

Even if you can't be bothered to accept Climate Change it makes financial sense to adopt a greener attitude. Less reliance on oil means less reliance on unstable Arab nations. If OPEC suddenly wanted to raise prices even further they could. Less deforestation means that more sustainable methods could be used so that future generations can live off logging. We lose so much nature that we haven't even a chance to study yet. For all we know there could be the next wonder drug within the rainforest but we'll never possess it because we will have destroyed it.

@ foot soldier of All Gore number 6
I think Al Gore have done nothing with you and your country, what he did is to save the Earth.

First of all, you think shit. Al Gore is claimed for years that Holland will sink, while he's flying with his private jet around the world, brainwash the people with “Oh my god it's end of the world, but hey, that carbon footprint is a great idea”. Yes sure, for rich people. The link I showed you is that, you have great green ideas, but idiots like you are nothing more a bunch of fascists who are against developing of a nation. This what I hate from Europe, brainwashed eggheads who give Europe a bad name.

So STOP F1 AND CAR RACING SPORTS

When mothers of green fascists like you stop farting and polluting the air with crap.

    @at idiot number 7

“ People like you make me sick”

People like me should stand against idiots like you and make you feel sick. Sick lying jerks like you should fade away..fast.

“The evidence for Climate Change is astounding, believe me, I've studied it”

Show us the evidence. Global warming is a men made scheme to make money of fear, All Gore is the greatest example of it. There was always Climate Change and people shall adapt to it. Nothing in life stays the same, same in Climate. You studied shit, like the book from All Gore.

“Climate Change it makes financial sense to adopt a greener attitude”

Climate change makes finacially sense when you pump up the fear mongering, done by ”NGO's (who are very good in scheming goverments for subsidies against the fight of global warming), and not allowing the traditional companies doing their job in the open market.
There is nothing wrong with cleaning up the air (greener attitude), it's a good thing, but all options should be and stay on the table. Green energy (solar, wind etc etc), nuclear, hydro and traditional gas and oil drilling.

    “We lose so much nature”

No we don't, stop exaggerating with your fear, it drives a nut like you crazier.

How old are you man? I believed you are old enought but your mind is adolescent I can't understand why you insist that climate change have nothing to do with Global warming and it is only a man made scheme. Then you wanted to sink first Holland before you believe, how idiot you are. You said “There was always Climate Change and people shall adapt to it.” yes that's true but how can you adopt with calamities and catastrophies as what the scenarios today? The climatic change before is different to the degree of change today. And I wonder why? you hated us and with Al Gore for being concern with the environment, I'm not afraid with present climate change but I accept to have responsibity and fear for the future impact if we just continue abuse today using fossil fuels and emit green house gases. Is just easy to say to adopt to Green energy but the problem is how to make those alternative energy economical and sustainable. If Al Gore is wrong prove it that the temperature rising trend is false.

    idiot #9

“Then you wanted to sink first Holland before you believe, how idiot you are”

Old enough to type here that you're a moron.
It's not me who claims that holland will sink. Read again what I typed. Climate change has nothing to do with “Global Warming”. If Al Gore is so concerned about the “enviroment” why does he need villa that use so much energy and is close to the ocean (he even claimed that Global warming creates earthquakes, why does he live in California?).
and what about his private jet? What Al cares about is “making money” .
Thank god is CCX scheme failed.

We lose 10,000 species a year thanks to human intervention. That's not a lot at all. I must be exaggerating.

You call me a follower or soldier or some bollocks like that of Al Gore. Yet I've never watched the man speak nor have I watched an 'Inconvenient Truth'. I have for the past 4 years of my life studied Global Warming/Climate Change etc. I am going on to study it at University next year.

Evidence? The Arctic, Antarctic and Glaciers melting faster than ever. Hurricanes, droughts and flooding become more and more regular. Faster desertification and longer monsoon seasons. The effects of El Nino and La Nina becoming worse and worse. The planet being hotter now than any time in the last 600,000 year. Carbon Dioxide ppm in the atmosphere higher than any time in history and higher than any time in the last 800,000 years (proven through studying Ice Cores.

I will again mention that 99% of scientific studies believe that man is contributing to climate change. More people agree on that than on evolution.

Man will adapt to Climate Change? If by adapting you mean Billions will die of hunger. Millions will die of Skin Cancer and the rest who are left will have to fight over whatever remaining resources are left, then yes we will adapt. Although South America and Africa will be the worst hit due proximity to the equator these places supply food to the rest of the world. No developed country is self sufficient.

Stopping countries develop? How about we just help them develop in better ways than MEDC's developed. Although it is true countries like America and the UK developed by destroying their own resources we now have the technology for Brazil and other developing nations not to do that. Their economies will be all the stronger if they develop in sustainable ways. It just costs more in the short term.

I do not care at all what Al Gore says about Holland sinking. One crazy persons rambling does not affect the cold hard facts I've discussed here.

    Fido,
I spend a lot of time reading and responding to your points of view. But at the moment you are showing such signs of instability that I feel I must mention it to you.
It's not the topic itself, it's any topic, and it is upsetting to see your personality alter and break up as you 'bite the head off ' any and all posters.
I genuinely enjoy our chats, but I worry about your invective.
I hope you can find some inner peace sometime soon.
    Geoff.

Carbon Dioxide is a naturally occurring gas. But when we a process called C-O-M-B-U-S-T-I-O-N happens it is released into the atmosphere. This is a man made process. C02 occurs in nature and is created by man. You're sounding so unintelligent now. When CO2 is released into the atmosphere it makes the parts per million or ppm go up. When this goes up too much the suns radiation is unable to leave our atmosphere due to the G-R-E-E-N-H-O-U-S-E effect and this heats up the planet. I can't believe I'm having to explain the science to someone who tries to be so against it. You would have thought you would have at least researched it. There are several other processes involved and even a few other gasses.

P.S. sorry if this sounds patronising but until now I thought you were fairly intelligent and just lazy now it seems that you're just ignorant. And seeing as most children learn about global warming in science you must be about 12.

Geotard, only in your unstable head you see instability. As I typed many times, you're brain dead.
Mr Rectifying, my god, Al Gore was really capable of brainwashing both of you idiots. From who did you got those studies from huh?
Global warming is a men made scam and you to know that you all have to go back to the ENRON scandal. Have a nice day.

I got my studies from my teachers. Once again I have never watched one of Al Gore's speeches nor read any of his work. I have already addressed Al Gore in an argument and the fact that you're still using him to argue is laughable.

You are not arguing you are just constantly saying, with your fingers in your ears, that global warming is a man made scam which I have already proven, in my prior arguments, that it is not.
