“Chairman Ian Thompson says Argos has comprehensive 3D seismic survey”

Well, how comprehensive are these 3D seismic surveys? If they're anywhere as “comprehensive” as the rest I'd call it quits and spare myself the humiliation.

Think/Marcos/Martin - one thing is definate- you folks know little about how offshore exploration works - neither do I. But where we differ is that I live in reality and not fantasy.
Real people have - and continue to invest in this exploration work so they evidently feel there is a risk worth taking overall - otherwise drilling would have stopped months ago.
Nobody knows yet for sure - not the oil companies drilling, and certainly not you boys - if there will be commercially viable fields prooved that are worth the future investment to exploit. There is a fair way to go yet.
One of 2 totally different areas is being focussed on. and in one, one side appears to have “had” oil - but it has moved somewhere else. The eastern area has come up with a positive hit- even you have to accept the reality of that. As yet it is not proven if it it will meet the commercial criteria for development, but shows promise - the next 4 wells may well decide?
So one company is progressing fine, the other company has hit the buffers for now and we will wait and see - they may survive -they may not - that is business life reality.
End of this year others will be starting on other areas of the northern field and who knows? Not them for sure and you and me have NO idea.
End this year 2 other companies will start deepwater in a totally new area south east. One well in the only shallowish edge was dry(so are a lot of first drills in the world) but companies learn from what strucures they find and get better options for drills later on .
Shares go up and down affected by lots of things not just daily company statements - look at your own stock exchange! Its called profit-taking! Same as currency dealers - something goes up 5% - then plenty of short term investors sell to take their profit - and the shares go down again - and then up a bit etc etc!

These Argies do crack me up, on the one hand they state that the Falklands are worthless rocks with no oil! jajajajaja!, on the other hand they state that Eeengleesh pirats are stealing our resources! malvinas son Argentinas!. They never seem to appreciate the paradox of their attitude toward the Falklands.

....and there is an example of the 'worthless rocks, jajajajaja!' spin, do you really believe that article Marcos? or are we eeengleesh pirats stealing your resources?

which is it to be eh?

Marcos,if a newspaper knows the truth and scientific proven facts- how do you explain that people invest in this area that?
The answer is that the newspaper does NOT know- it is just writing a story based on little fact and the opinion of the writer - who probably knows little about the area.
And as West says - it really is time you lot made up your mind - those who sit on both sides of the fence tend to end up with sore balls!

They are worthless rocks, I never once implied that Malvinas itself or the seabed around them were rich in natural resources, it's obvious that they're not... and it's obvious that these “comprehensive 3D seismic surveys” are nothing but shit.

The natural resources are... or I should say were in the water, fishing, which is the ONLY thing you've relied on up until now. Without fishing you would've had nothing, without fishing you will have... nothing.

When this whole oil fiasco is done, no one is ever going to think of drilling there again. The last ounce of motivation the UK may have had to look after you clowns will be gone, and by then the full effect of South America's embargo will be more than evident.

I have nothing but time... I'll just sit here and wait for it, you keep ranting Brits. ;-)

Martin- one crucial error- UK came and liberated us from your lot and established a permanent garrisson here to keep you out permanently- several years before even fishieries started - let alone any oil exploration.
Oil/Gas would be nice - but we have managed so far without it, we still have a good offshore fisheries - despite Arg attempts at overfishing all around to try to wipe out fish in the whole South West Atlantic - this has scuppered your industry far more than anything here!
UK stands by Peoples and Principles - you will have a long wait!!

So martin you think it acceptable to try and wipe out the fisheries economy of the Falklands just because you don't like the people living there do you. Also UK will defend falklanders freedom wether there is oil or not. falklanders really ought to set up there own deep water port for both fishing and oil an express fisheries flight to get the fish from Falklands to london restaurants while still fresh wouldn't be a bad idea either.

  • Martin_Fierro

“several years before even fishieries started” all you had was a garrison with a handful of men... it took an equally small amount of men in 1982 to neutralize them.

You know what Charle? Yes, IF that is what we're doing, not like either one of us is in full possession of the actual numbers. But if that's what it takes to weaken a colonizing British force that is after 5 million km² of Argentine sovereign territory, yes it is acceptable. That, and more. But you're just parroting what Islander1 is saying, you don't know dick.

Martin Thankyou for confirming that you and your Despot country have no problem bullying and trying to economically strangle a small community of islanders off your coast. Those islands are not Argentine territory you know they're not that's why you refuse to go to the ICJ with your claim. We will never abandon Falklanders to the Argentine ethnic cleansing Argentina wants so much. The democratic rights of Falkland islanders are very important to the UK and we'll defend those rights no matter what argentina does.

    19 WestisBest,
Yeah? You should be dead by now...

    23 Charle,
Hardly a “small community of islanders”... Charle if its the UK that claims sovereignty on the islands... 61 million (UK) against 41 million (Argentina).

And don't waste your time with your “ethnic cleansing” bullshit, trying to compare a simple case of decolonization with some mass murdering insanity, you're ridiculous. And for your information, the ICJ had no compulsory jurisdiction in South America, look it up.

    You really are a parrot.

I've heard so much crazy shit from you people it's hilarious... ethnic cleansing, colonizing, bullying... if you know anything about history that's the UK in a nutshell.

Type “Britain invasion of...” on your browser, you'll get more results than you'll ever be able to read.

Martin 16- before fisheries only a handfull of marines? Wrong again you are - Fisheries started in 2006 - for the 4 years before that we had a garrisson defence of several thousand! Now reduced a bit in numbers as better defence hardware in situ here.
To spell out reality yet again- Britain made its commitment to defend our rights of freedom of choice BEFORE and big money economy came along.

Martin for it to be a case of De colonization you need to have the presence of a colony there is no colony there just a free country. To all intents and purposes UK treats Falklands as an independent country leaving all decisions to Islanders why can't Argentina do the same.
