The Falkland Islands Post Office issued a special stamp to commemorate the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton.

The stamp with face value of £2 developed from a concept prepared by a Falkland Islander in a traditional style depicts portraits of both William and Catherine taken from official engagement photographs with Westminster Abbey in the background.

The stamp is presented in sheetlets of 10 with a special first day cover showing details of Westminster Abbey.

Avid royalty collectors will be interested to know that the Falkland Islands Government is also issuing a Royal Wedding Crown Size coin in Cupro Nickel and Proof Sterling Silver showing a finely sculpted portrait of the couple.

It's official, the Falkland Islands are not part of South America -

“ ... The newlyweds will be separated for two-and-a-half months if the Royal Air Force posts Prince William in the Falkland Islands, off the coast of Africa, next year.....”
