““It’s important for the Argentines not to fall to that submissive colonialist spirit of some of the media” that seem to forget that Malvinas is a national cause and not an issue limited to the Armed Forces.” blatant stupidity.

““Malvinas is a national cause and merited better coverage in the Argentine media of those special commemorations”, emphasized the Defence minister.” are you sure Puricelli?

“Behind an alleged social event, “there was a clear political message masked by the occasion.” sure! d'you see what I was saying about brainwashing?

Just another example of Argentine jealousy. Their politicians can't stand the fact that their people where more interested in the Royal Wedding than they are in the lives of Argentine politicians/shenanigans.

Is this guy taking the medication that CFK should be taking or should he also be carted away to the funny farm?

My friends in Argentina were texting me all through the wedding coverage with questions, so I guess they interested. Same with my friends in Chile. If I am honest I was surprised that they were so enthusiastic about it. Just sayin'.

He can rest assured that there were no hidden messages in the wedding to afflict his paranoid brain.

The Falklands are simply not a news story in the UK.

If he wants to get some attention he should fire off a few missiles - or at least do something marginally more interesting than just having a moan.

“the London press announced that the young pilot would be coming to Argentina for a ten weeks training course next September”. .....
The Argentine airforce cant afford any fuel, never mind training.

“the protest is the standing claim which Argentina makes in every possible forum of the illegitimate usurpation of the Malvinas Islands”. Hey Mr Puricelli , Thats what Argentina tried in 1982 and we notice you dont say excactly what this was because your story always falls down at the first fence !

typical Argentina, way out of touch with its own people, and acting like a spoilt child over our royal couple,, perhaps if Argentina had a royal couple she would not be so arrogant, but instead have a corrupt government, to try and deprive their own people a little bit of pleasure in watching the wedding , instead of giving them more time to make an even more fools of themselves, with the millions of argentine people watching the wedding, and the argy government upset, just goes to show you all, how out of touch the governments is from its own people,
err diddum’s, and prince William is coming south to rub your noses in it, , oh to be British, sad to be argentine mmmmmmm

Most Argentines were more interested in the football world cup in 1982 than they were in their returning soldiers. Many felt shunned and isolated by the reception they got.

A bit of royal trivia. Both Prince Wiliam and his new wife spent part of their gap* year in Chile. Not at the same time but a few months apart.

*A gap year is a year between formal schooling and university when a student travels, works and does volunteering.

    These are facts:
1- Malvinas is part of Argentina and South America not Britain nor Europe 8000 miles away.
2-British are not hated in Argentina. Many Argentineans can trace their ancestry back to one or more of these“creatures”, and many British citizens enjoy to live in our country.
3.Argentinean media and people in general loves to watch the Circus Soleil, Moscow ..and the “Royal wedding” with their stupid hats and the beautiful Pippa's rear end, we love to laugh at all of them.
4-At least we didn't put Kate and that horseface prince in a mail stamp like their sheep colony in Malvinas did.
They love licking the boots of their inbred royal.. and stamps :-)

    These are facts
    malvinas does not exist.
and the falklands are british, for the time being ?

the british are proberbly more populer in argentina that the argentine goverment [odd]

and argentina needs to grow up,
but as you intend to come back and try again, why should you grow up,
if the UK is not willing to put you in your place, then no one else will,
was it not the conservatives in power at the first falklands war,,,is it not the same party in power today, and again stripping our defences,
[sooner or later you will try again]
and a lot of people may very well end up shamfully insulted,

I guess the Argentine tv companies know there are much higher ratings in broadcasting the royal wedding than in going over endless repeats of the start of a glorious, sorry, pathetic failure. If he is the minister for defense then maybe he should be sacked as he is a bit of a joke for coming out with comments like that.

I was surprissed by the media coverage of the wedding in argentina, the rating was higher then when the president speaks “en cadena” ,or a football match boca-river.
This shows that there is a small minority in argentina whio cares about the falklands and many people told me in private that they dont care about the islands and the falklanders can have them. The only thing is they cant tell this in public because they will get trouble, although some letters to editors were published in the newspapers reflecting this and nobody answered in anger.

I think you will find that the majority of Argentines have far greater concerns than the Falklands and it is simply a way for the government to control the minds of the poorly educated. I think it is probably fair to say that any well educated Argentine (there are a few I believe just rare to get one on here) couldn't care less about the Falklands unless of course there is political or financial (the two usually come hand in hand) motivation to do so. lol

There is no point in trying to explain the above, because for 18 months people have been trying to explain the facts behind all of this, but he fails time and time again to understand. I don't think anybody on this site can claim 'ignorance' (#58).

Posters are all avid absorbers of the minutae of everbody's arguments.
It's just that, having absorbed the arguments, some prefer a different social and mental-construct than others.

And even if the Falkland/Malvenas issue went to the ICJ and a result arbitrated and fixed in international law, the same mental-construct would remain - but with further beliefs of 'injustice'.

Firmly held beliefs, especially those underpinned by a sense of injustice, are always more powerfully fixed in the psyche than the universal truths of life and the laws that the world runs by.

The Falkland Island government have done nothing to impede their country or people, but the Argentine government use's every single opportuinity to interfere with the Falklands and its free people It is even illegal for an Islander to fly their own flag in Intenational waters, according to Argentine law. They have recently, successfully, threatened large shipping corporations to stop trading with the Falklands or face being banned from Argentine ports. The list is endless , so please ask the Argentine Government to 'Get over it ' and start behaving like a mature ,civilised country.

OK: fair enough, It's not that we “don't give a shit”... we have serious “real” problems we need to sort out before this ridiculous dispute.
What I meant was that it's not the argentine people. The goverment is not the representation of the nation although it's the face and it's easy to get into the habit of saying “the argies want this” or “the argies think that”... unless you're there and living there you'll never know how bad conditions are. Those that shout the loudest aren't necesarily right, so any future condescending or insulting comments from the usual argentines, please regard as such... Stay in your islands and let's hope the bridge is built one day again for the prosperity of all. I doubt it will happen while the generations that lived the conflict are still living. PS: as far as future generations of argentines thinking they have a claim on your islands... don't believe all that's written in your newspapers... i'm well aware of what kids are being taught in schools and (granted) there is cpntroversy over a few student manuals incorporating goverment propaganda. That however is a minority in some schools in the capital. 62: As far as argentina threatening large shipping corporations, let me tell you something: This country is by no means in any position to dig in their heels and make tghis type of ultimatums as they have lost all potential buyers from europe and canada for the next 2 seasons. I think it was soy or some mineral...
The relatives I have in the south still remember people from the falklands coming to study in argentina and coming over for medical issues and it was a relatively happy time for all.

Ah at last.....An Argentinian on here with good english and an understanding of the problems. I often meet up with Argentinians and have polite conversations about the Falklands and most are unware of where the truth actually ls but accept that their Government lies about every thing else and all of them have no balanced view of the history of the dispute because of the government propaganda. The big shipping lines have been frightened off and the Islanders attitude is OK,we will just do it better and differently. It is a great shame that the two nations cannot live side by side in harmony because Argentina would be the biggest benificiary. Please write/email to your politicians and ask them to understand that having been illegally invaded and then subjected to years of political bullying, the Islanders are not going to come around to their way of thinking. Just go to the International court of Justice and put your case and then everyone will abide by the judgement and can live in peace. Many many Argentinians are good people as are many many Islanders. Can you ,Rodrigo make a difference ?

definately not afraid of the malvinistas. They aren't the majority although they tend to be the most violent and vicious. Still, I can handle a debate with one by simple logics and common sense. I've lived in London for 12 years and have had a few “traitor” remarks thrown my way. I've done my own research both from UK and Argentine sources. If Argentina's claims of being expelled by the British from the islands in 1832 have any grounds, then it's down to simple squatters rights on a grand scale. simple. A time will come, eventually, when the argentines choose a government that will focus on priorities rather than stir up peronist/ revolutionary bollocks. I, like so many, believe there's enough room in the south atlantic for us all to breath in. The trouble with democracy is that it depends on the intelligence of it's people.
