May 15th, 2011 - 04:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0More worrying is the news that Gordon Brown has his (one) eye on the IMF job if it becomes available. Don't put him in charge!!!!
Not really……………………….
May 15th, 2011 - 04:44 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The IMF likes to rape Countries….
Why shouldn’t its director rape Maids?
Since he is known to be a charmer and liked by the ladies, I do not think that he is fumbling around with a hotel maid. I think that this is French politics at the head of this story - after all, he is leading in polls to be the next president of France.
May 15th, 2011 - 05:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@3 That's what I was thinking. Until we know the facts we can't judge but the timing had me wondering.

Tristane Banon alleged that she was the victim of an attempted rape by Dominique Strauss-Kahn in 2002, during the interviews she carried out to prepare this essay.

The Argentine Connection:
The case began in January when Mario Blejer, a senior Argentine economist, alleged that Piroska Nagy, his wife, had been seduced by her boss at the Davos international forum.

The American Connection:
The charges stem from a sexual attack and unlawful imprisonment that allegedly occurred Friday against a 32-year-old woman at a Sofitel hotel in midtown Manhattan, the police said. Strauss- Kahn was arrested at John F. Kennedy airport while on an Air France flight heading for Paris.

Do I see a pattern here?
Yes.
A Pirate that doesn't know how to behave? Shocking.
May 15th, 2011 - 06:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0That a man is a charmer doesn't mean he won't sometimes play rough at unimpressed ladies.
May 15th, 2011 - 07:03 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Strauss-Kahn has a problem with women, some say it’s an addiction. It would be a problem if he were addicted to men lol, my advice would be, stop taking Viagra Dominique :P

But I think ElaineB has a point, at $2000 a night (Hotel room), I almost convinced that you can afford an escort for 1000 an hour , right? Unless he is out of control and he doesn't want to pay for sex ....
May 16th, 2011 - 01:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@11, Le perv Strauss-Kahn paid $3000 a night at the Sofitel.
May 16th, 2011 - 05:41 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@1 If Tony Blair is the Middle East peace envoy I don't see why Gordon Brown can not get that position in the infamous IMF.
oops!
May 16th, 2011 - 06:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@12 That is what worries me! Giving him the keys to the vault would be like giving a teenager a credit card without a limit and expecting them to use it wisely.
May 16th, 2011 - 08:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@11 This may well be a genuine case - if it is, all credit to the woman for reporting it. Some powerful people begin to believe they are above the law.
But I can't help thinking there is a lot more to this. JMO
all credit to the woman .... especially when Yes means No , and No means Yes . That to us is very confusing E !!!
May 16th, 2011 - 09:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0setup by Nicolas Sarkozy?? or the old fart is a sex maniac?
@15 Many women do not report rape because they are often not believed and even if they are there is a stigma attached to it; quite unfairly. Successful prosecutions for rape are not great in number.
May 16th, 2011 - 10:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sadly, there are women that cry rape when it is not. Their identities are protected whereas are man accused of rape is not afforded the same anonimity. You can imagine the consequences of false claims; quite unfair.
Yes, women (and men) can give out mixed signals but when it comes to it No means NO and it is probably always best to take that literally. JMO.
Re: Sarkozy. It is ironic isn't it? But the French have a very liberal attitude to the sexual antics of their politicians.
A parisian friend of mine once said to me, Oh, you English make such a fuss about affairs, it is nothing if your husband is discreet about it; it happens. Which is one opinion, I guess.
@16 I'm sure you heard about rape and honor killing in some Muslin society, the one who gets killed is not the rapist, as it should be, is the victim herself at the hands of family members.
May 17th, 2011 - 12:58 am - Link - Report abuse 0@15 Follow that Philosophy and you will end next to Strauss-Kahn or at the mercy of a Lorena Bobbit.
Even if he's found innocent, he'll never become president after this.
May 17th, 2011 - 04:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It does look rather fishy.
Kenneth Clarke, UK's Justice Secretary is related to Strauss-Kahn?
May 18th, 2011 - 07:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/8522056/Kenneth-Clarke-apologises-for-causing-offence-with-comments-about-rape.html
This is a total non-story. I heard the entire conversation live and what he was actually talking about was why some seemingly similar crimes carry different sentences in prison. He used the example of the difference between violent non-consensual rape with a situation were a 15 year-old girl consents to sex with a 16 year-old boy. Because the girl is under-age it is still classed as rape in UK law. But you can see there is a difference and the crimes would carry different prison sentences.
May 18th, 2011 - 09:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0This has been completely blown up into something it was not, which is a shame because it distracts people from a very serious subject.
