China Trade Minister Chen Deming promised to further increase bilateral trade with Argentina which last year reached 13.5 billion US dollars but also asked for reciprocity regarding China’s exports. Read full article

    This trade is extremely asymmetric because of the specific features of the two countries involved.
    Pretending otherwise is self-delusion.

    Trade barriers set-up/removal, if directed at one country alone (China) would be ultimately counter-productive.

    Trade barriers set-up/removal, if directed at all foreign countriesv- in the interest of even-handedness - will be immediately and catastrophically counter-productive.

    Best to accept some asymmetry for the moment,
    *and to work extremely hard to develop home industries producing advanced goods with high profitability* to sell abroad as well as at home.
    This reduces asymmetry and allows Argentina to trade with the world without disadvantage.
