Overseas visitors to the UK will not be deterred by high VAT, providing sterling remains weak against key inbound currencies, reveals a report released this week at the World Travel Market (WTM) Vision Conference-London. Read full article
Nico- I,d sooner have a low pound that a sunken Arg peso any day! Real hard money is Chilean Peso and Brazilian Real. Euro is low as well dont forget so not much difference in Europe for tourists.
I get more Argentine Pesos to the Pound now than three years ago, so the Argentine Peso must be weakening faster than the Pound. Can't say the same for the Chilean Peso...
When I am in Argentina I am constantly asked to pay in US$ rather than Pesos, even offered a substantial discount to do so. (I don't accept the offer).
I was just about to say something similar; the pound is stronger than I've seen it (in 5 years) at the moment against the peso. 2 years ago it dropped to 5 pesos to the pound, but a few weeks ago it went up to 7.
I never really get asked to pay in dollars, but they are pretty widely accepted.
I'm hoping to go back to England for a visit at the end of the year, so hopefully the peso will stop getting weaker......
A weak pound also helps our exports and despite what people think our manufacturers are going great guns. Jaguar factories are churning out jags and Land Rovers at full capacity as there is a bug demand for such quality cars. My XF order is going in in Q4 this year or Q1 2012
The reason people vist the UK is to experience a sence of our History and our long and established culture. I see this is lost on the Nico but that is because a pot of yoghurt has more culture than Argentina.
the UK is still more powerful today, then Argentina has been in its entirety, and that’s a fact, unless of course you include smoking Joe, then you will have to take of at least ten years, excluding the dog or course lol
SMOKeY ,After all who want to go to cloudy and cold beaches in southern Spain and more expensive?
So let go to Cost del Sol, Ibiza, Canarias, etc. that have a weak pound eh.... is in Britain... isn’t it?
you some times are more confusing , than an argentinian on holiday lol
I can't imagine people visiting the UK for the beaches, unless they want to surf in Cornwall. The millions of tourists are interested in the history and culture.
I think tourism bring in about 15billion to the economy, though correct me if you have more recent figures.
The stay in denial of someone is really amazing ha ha ha
They are sitting in the beach while a tsunami is coming but their press and politicians keep telling them propaganda that will not be any problem and just with an umbrella they will be fine.

I know the UK has many golden immense beaches, palm trees
sea shores roads, magnificient hotels... places ...!
They are some Carribean Islands, Australia shores, some Pasific Islands..
UK also has magnificient winter ski centers like in Alberta ( Canada)...
Wow ... geo obviously stands for 'geography' ... well done, now I suggest you explain to the UN why some of their sovereign States actually still are colonies of the UK ........ but be warned, they may think that you are an idiot !
Not quite what one would call good swimming or lying on the sand getting a tan beaches really are they.... I'll raise you a Gypsy Cove.... oh bugger cant lie on the sand there either........
OK, thanks. I guess I must have been lucky to visit some beautiful beaches in other countries. No disrespect intended but I don't think I would recommend Argentina (or the UK) for beach holidays. Both countries have much better alternatives.

@27, I'll give you the drum, Sunshine..... anywhere north of and including Mar del Plata and you are swimming in mud soup......south of Mar del Plata you will be wearing your goolies under your chin if you venture in even in the summer... and I really don't give a rats about the condition of North American beaches either...
