“Our land” he says... lol your land is England, if you had the slightest degree of dignity you would accept what you have.

I say England, not the “UK” because... I don't see any Scots or Irishmen here ranting about Malvinas, do you?

Seems to me they have the dignity you lack.

Blimey another 4 months of verbal diarohea to come from across the water yet until election day- will we survive! So Arg follows the path of
responsible member of the Int community does it?

Blatantly lies about an expulsion of civilains that it knows from its own records did NOT happen in 1833.

Tears up, in fits of childlike behaviour several bilateral agreements signed in 1999 and registered at the UN. Oh and then of course accuses UK and FI of unilateralism on these events!!

Breaks the spirit of IATA rules by banning commercial and charter flights to the Islands overflying Argentina - and refuses to even look at a non political “open-skies” alternative.

Blackmails commercial container carriers if they dare to handle Falklands seafreight.

Threatens any International company that dares to do business in the Islands.

Breaks UN maritime rules by threatening to interfere with and stop right of innocent passage through the Straits of Magellan(an international waterway) of ships to and from the Islands.

Tore up and refuses to talk about Connservation Issues for fisheries and marine resources in the South West Atlantic and deliberatley encourages overfishing in its waters and high seas areas in the hope that by wiping out S Atlantic fish stocks it can affect our economy.

Shall I carry on listing their “responsible” actions?

Argentine Government - just Shut up - and Grow Up.

“those in politics on the other side of the world can huff and puff but it will not change our resolve politically to retain the independence and the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands nor to come to their defence and to maintain deterrence as best we can”.

I'm assuming that Liam Fox didn't actually say call them the Malvinas Islands......

....Whilst I do believe that the islands belong to the people who live there; was it really necessary to follow the above by alluding to superior firepower?

I can't really see Argentina invading in the foreseeable future....

    “THE 8th COMMANDMENT
    Thou Shalt Not STEAL”

A bit rich lecturing us about stealing Marcos Alejandro (note the Spanish name), when your Spanish ancestors stole all what is now Argentina from its native inhabitants.

Oh, and by the way, the Falklands were claimed by Britain long before Argentina existed, so I fail to see how we could steal what was already ours.

So CFK sends out the laughing hyenas
    To entertain the world,
But be warned Argentina, this is no laughing matter, thing are slowly getting out of hand,
Turning and bribing the world again the British, will not help your cause, but could well destroy your dreams of grandeur

The American military already thinks the British are staggering to war,
Despite your government’s insults, the British are trying to maintain peace
You look at this as weakness,
We know it has an alternative to bloodshed, [and this is what is at the end of the tunnel]
Your government knows not what you do, or the consequences,
At the end of the day, who then will do the fighting or dying, [NOT CFK that’s for sure]
No one wants war, thus I would suggest that you stop pushing,
Children sadly do not understand the consequences of their actions,
Please, do not wake up the lion
We will not be responsibly of the consequences
Or the events that may well happen
Britain can only lose the Falkland’s,
Argentina may see the breakup, of the very country you are huffing and puffing from.
[Let the lion sleep, or pay the price of stupidity]
Have a nice day, just an opinion.

“Will continue to comply with its obligations as a responsible member of the International Community”.

Joke! Argentina (in any of its incarnations) hasn't been a responsible member of the international community for over 200 years.

If Argentina had any honesty (it doesn't) it would admit that 2 years 4 months of illegal occupation does not confer any right to sovereignty or ownership.

If Argentina wanted any credibility as a responsible member of the international community then it should remove its claim to the Falklands contained in its constitution.

In 1982, Argentina thought Britain could or would do nothing. BIG mistake. Is it ramping itself up to make an even BIGGER one?

Thought for Argentines. Why don't you take your claim to the International Court of Justice? You take it everywhere else. Scared, are you?

23 Artillero601, You Say ”The Military ( the destruction of )”

What do we need the military for?
As paid employees of the people of Argentina, what do they do for them?
1- Overthrew a legitimate democratic government
2-Cowardly tortured and killed unarmed prisoners in a barbaric way.
3-Kidnaped, tortured and killed thousands of innocent unarmed men , women and children, including pregnant women.
4-They ruined the industry and economy of the country(Remember Martinez de Hoz)
5-They took the country to war when the things were going bad for them.
6-During the war, the last majority of this “brave”man hid in the mainland, meanwhile thousands of teenager conscripts were sent to the front line to fight with no food, proper clothing nor training.
7-Failed to overtrow the democratic government again.
8-Some of them joined the army of the same country that supported all the massacres of the 70's.

We are a democracy for almost thirty years now and our government is commited to solve the dispute of Malvinas only with peaceful means, regardless of the childless threats from the British Government.

Defence Minister Liam Fox say: “We have Typhoons already stationed there. We have a very clear message that we have both the naval power if necessary..”

but the message from a Foreign and Commonwealth Office say: “IN the face of bombast you can show reason and humanity”

    http://en.mercopress.com/2011/04/29/face-bombast-with-reason-british-official-tells-falklands

MOD and FCO are in contact? I think they should exchange the phones to be consistent in their statements.

Thus the only thing they achieve is show to the UK´s position as a complete lie, joke and double standard.....very barbarian for my taste adn only contributes strengthen Argentina´s position and the support from international community. Actually UK behave is very functional to Malvinas cause. Good job AR, our time will come, just paece and reason.

It's funny to read comments from the UK of being so concerned about the Falklands, that's far away, rather than about the dire situation in their own homeland.

Do the British go to debtor prisons like the Irish or can they strategically default like the Yanks?

    Morning all!

Children still playing with fire I see. Sorry Art, the little ones have no concept of what they are talking about. The dead are some kind of heroes .... to everyone except the dead maybe!

It's unlikely that either the UK or Argentina want a war. Neither can afford it in terms of cash or lives and the UK forces haven't seen much peace lately.

The UK is merely making a point, and that point is addressed as much at the US and everyone else as it is aimed at Argentina.

The Antarctic will be become important but not yet. When it does, watch your backs. The US has reserved its right to claim territory so you can guarantee that China and Russia, and even Brazil will too. It'll either be some kind of dog's dinner or a civilised carve up. Whichever, no-one will get what they want.

In the UK Reform think-tank Q&A, Liam Fox subscribed to the Roosovelt doctrine :
“ 'I have always been fond of the West African proverb: ”Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.“ ' ”
(Nathan Miller “Theodore Roosevelt, A Life”)

    In the Blue Corner:
British Defence Minister Liam Fox: “political resolve, independence, sovereignty, defence, deterrence”.

    In the Red Corner:
Argentina’s Foreign Ministry (Anonymous): “huff & puff, regrettable statements, ‘ignoring international community’s calls to negotiate’, contempt, bellicose provocations, false nationalism”.

This is a distinctly unequal battle, rhetorically, legally and militarily.

“Do not engage”, “do not engage”, “do not engage” (Doctor Who, BBC, 1982)

It's amazing how the agency handled Mercopress grossly tendentious information, and is clearly not impartial and twisting the opinion in favor of England and its interests. He's done it with other items by placing the photo Galtieri, when aggression is evidenced English or putting the flag of the island, in discussions of sovereignty when a dispute between two countries and not three putting in the same category of country the islanders when they are not a country.
