The Falklands are well defended, much better than in 1982, and the international opinion tide is turning “on our favour” said Dick Sawle, elected member of the Falklands’ Legislative Assembly recently back from a round of political contacts in New York and Washington. Read full article

“Asked if international opinion was turning against the Falklands, MLS Sawle was most enthusiastic about the Falklands policy in the international stage.
“I think it’s the opposite, the international tide is turning on our favour”

Once again the world is told, the Falkland’s are British, and we will defend them, but basically Argentina has more chance of knighting these bloggers, than they have of getting the Falkland’s,
And the only silly argie replies, is about the planes and more brain washing, in the past, the world has listened to Argentina,
Now, the world is not only listening to the free voice of the Falkland’s islander’s, they are hearing THE TRUTH,
And the world after having a good laugh yesterday, can now see Argentina for what it really is, [a con artist, rouge and liars ]
The more they hear the truth,
The less they will want to know Argentina,

Mr Sawle, The message from the United States is not the same, they signed the OAS declaration this time, big difference and you know it.
I like the part in the video when one englishman tells the other englishman “as long the FI wish to remain British..and they do” and Mr Sawle seems to agree, like he is going to say anything else, laughable.

“Before coming over I also visited Washington and to a man”
Who? Fred B. or another secret lover? Names please, or is just another British lie.
Is clear if you watch this video that this trip was a complete disaster for the British.

THe official U.S. position has not changed since the UN was founded. Officially they are opposed to all forms of colonialism .... except for Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, etc. Which means that they are opposed to anyone other than the U.S. having colonies!

Same old cr*p from Mercosur too .... even the South American's are starting to recognise that it's little more than an old boys club for politicians on expenses.

But it's nice to see the FIG getting itself onto British television .... helping to spread the truth :-)

Marcos- like so many of your fellows you are so full of fantasy! USA signed a declaration calling on the sides to negotiate and discuss to seek a solution the a dispute. And THAT is all. USA did not formally back Argentina,s claim to take us over(Sovereignty) - if you think they did then produce the document and the words that state that.
USA and mnay others signed that declaration as a bit of political politeness and so that Washington does not continually get earfulls of whining from your president. Its called Politics!
I recall a visit here a couple of years ago by some Chilean businessmen - they went to see their Foreign Ministry beforehand - and were basically told- go to the Islands and do good business for Chile but please dont land us with abusive phone calls from over the Andes!
Climb into the real world if you can? Real world is that none of your neighbours really like you - they just sign a bit here and say a bit there - to keep you happy and your mouths shut.

What amazes me is that the Argentines have whipped this whole thing up out of nowhere.

It all started with thirty seconds worth of Prime Minister's question time, in which Cameron said exactly the same thing as HMG have been saying for the past thirty years.
Followed by Liam Fox saying that the islands are well defended. As they have been for....nearly thirty years.

Has anything changed? No, or at least nothing that the Argentines need to concern themselves with.

If I were a cynic, I might ask myself why our Argentine friends have chosen this precise moment to get their panties in a twist.

Britain is mature, it's those youthful South American countries that need to grow up.

    'It's time to mature

And like the Argies, its time to grow some balls Mr Preston

Former Guardian editor Preston looks at whistleblowers and the debate over protection of sources and writes: ”I have a D.Phil in source protection theory and the continuing notoriety that goes with it. Sarah Tisdall, a young Foreign Office clerk, was sent to prison for leaking details of 1983 cruise missile deployment plans on my Guardian editorial watch, and journalism legend blames me for that (which is not surprising, since I still blame myself).“ Preston concludes: ”Sending journalists to prison [for refusing to reveal sources], just like beating up

on the BBC, brings politicians few boosts on the Gallup polls. Joe and Jane Public may not love our edgy trade, but they love politicians even less. But principle, schminciple, this is pure, desolate pragmatism. To do our job, we need to make simple choices about information and how it comes in - and we need to honour our bargains.”

I really don't understand how the Argentine's don't get that the Falkland Iaslands are British. Now I don't like to generalise, as I know it's not all Argentine's. But where's the problem. Islanders are British. They want to stay that way. People from Argentina are Argentine. If they were invaded, or bullied, by another country and told that they shouldn't be Argetntine, that they should leave the country of their birth, they wouldn't like it. They wouldn't stand for it. So why the hell should people here!!

Get your laughing gear around that

Her first challenge was a safe transit of the Magellan Strait and Patagonia Canal taking her from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

With two Chilean Naval pilots embarked for two and a half days of ‘interesting’ and ‘challenging’ navigation…

And while negotiating the canals, Chile celebrated Naval Day – a national holiday commemorating victory at the Battle of Iquique in 1879.

With two Chilean pilots aboard it was only right and proper that the event was marked with a winter warmer on the bridge wing with toasts and speeches.

It’s thought to be the first time in a decade that a British ship has taken supplies from a Chilean tanker (in this case CNS Almirante Montt), which was simultaneously RASing with Almirante Williams – formerly Type 22 frigate HMS Sheffield

Next stop Callao in Peru for a four-day break. On arrival there were the all-important official calls carried out by the captain as he paid courtesy visits to senior Peruvian officers, whose port authority laid on buses for the ship’s company so they could move between the harbour and the sights of nearby Lima.

and even more, the UN call both countries to keep negociating the same year of the war but you didnt knew that neither dont you? and you know why? because argentina was in a dictatorship not a democratic government, so the acts are irrelevant in a dictatorship, let me guess you didnt know that neither...

#38 What is the date on that Resolution? 1965? Getting a bit old isn't it? And rather irrelevant since you invaded in 1982.Bit of a game changer that invasion :-)

    Anything after 1982?

Yes! 1982 - 1984 the UN GA annual Resolutions called for a resumption of “ .... negotiations in order to find as soon as possible a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute and their remaining differences relating to the question of the Falkland Islands ... ”

1985 - 1988 the UN GA annual Resolutions called for the iniiation of ” ... negotiations with a view to finding the means to resolve peacefully and definitively the problems pending between both countries, including all aspects on the future of the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations ...”

After 1988, there have been no further calls from the UN GA via any Resolution. Resumption to initiation to silence.

The matter seems to have been left with the sub-committee. And an increasingly irrelevant sub-committee at that!

    You are brainwashed !!

man you are being too stupid, the UN is still calling both countries to resume the negociation not only in the C-24 the GA says it too... because the resolutions are still valid...

So tell me D*ckhead. Why, if the old Resolutions remain valid, did the UN GA feel the need to repeat itself every year between 1982 and 1988?

And the nature of the Argentine Government is irrelevant. Argentina was responsible for its attack on the islands in 1982, and it remains responsible!

By the way, how do Resolutions work .... ? Oh yes, UN GA Resolutions are only 'advisory' .... they carry NO weight in international law ! The only Resolutions that carry real weight come from the Security Council.

The SC issued two Resolutions in 1982, but Argentina ignored them......... ooops!

What the hell Bennies, Poms, Jocks, Paddies, Sheep-shagger-Welsh-boys! Why on earth are you taking the bait from the likes of “Think” and his RG bum-boys!? I've been a while not commenting here and yet not commenting here! All the RGs have to say is nothing more than they've ever had to say, plus it's RG erection [sic] time! I know it's kind of militaristic, but I agree with with Typhoon and British-frickin'-freeking-bulldog - but f@£ck them! They can do bugger all...the RGs, that is!
All you Bennies, get on to your Queen's representative and make sure that they know how you feel. Tell the RGs that they can get stuffed when it comes to who owns the “Falklands”. Tell the RGs that they can get can also get stuffed when it comes to who owns the oil if it comes out of the “Falklands Shelf”. Tell your HMG of the FI that they need to be doing more with the US Government!
When it comes to the RGs saying that they have Mercosur, OAS, errrr...OAS, ummm...C24...on their side, we can say that we have the EU, Commonwealth (including Spain!) and NATO on our side, then I think that we might just about survive, particularly with NATO - say it again - NATO - on our side!
I “think” that the RGs have been claiming OAS on their side - big whoop - well what about NATO???????!!!!!
I “think” that the phrase is “come and have a go if you think that you RG hard enough”!

New research finds France is the best place to emigrate to

And Argentina if you are a Nazi
    http://south.greyfalcon.us/argentina.html.
That scores of fugitive Nazis found their way to Argentina after World War II, aided and abetted by Gen. Juan D. Perón, is no secret. But according to a book just published here that draws extensively on archival material only now being made available to researchers, his government also offered a haven for the profits of German companies that had been part of the Nazi war machine

At one point, Ms. Weber also maintains, the Nazi Adolf Eichmann was hired, initially under his own name but later under an alias, at the Mercedes-Benz plant in the suburbs of the capital. In the interview, she suggested that Mr. Eichmann, abducted by Israel in 1960 and then tried and executed, might have functioned as a sort of paymaster, “financing the movement and flight to Argentina” of other fugitive Nazis.

@ 73 lsolde (#) it is Las Malvinas although we los it, we will retake them soon, this is called freedom, you will not be allowed to live in our islands because we prefer them to be free of colonials.

@ stick up your junta, it says 30,000 died at the hands of the junta but no one knows the true figures, there is an more generally accepted figure of about 50,000. This is nowhere near the 50 million killed by Soviet Union from 1920-1950's, which your government sided with in Second World War. Argentina was being corrupted by foreign influence and socialists.

In 1982 our government was busy cleansing our country of the illegal Argentines! If we had removed all of the liberal socialista dirt before 1982 (and there were more than the 50,000 we killed as evidence the current government!) we could have won back las malvinas. We need to remove from Argentina all the Anglo-Argentines too, who spy for their motherland even if it is 5 generations old! There are no real people on Las Malvinas, they are all British colonials although they live there 180 years they live there as squatters on Argentine soil. Same with the Chilians in Tierra del Fuego! They can claim their Argentine birth certificate now like the James Peck, or they can be trodden on like the dirt they are by our Argentine jackboot. They are just mud to be wiped off our boots.

They are non people. They are like the Red Indians, good only for taking their land from. Send the colonials back. These “Falkland Islanders” rejected our rule in 1982! They think they have “the right”, like the socialists and the communists and the peasant left and their liberal agenda, they have no rights. The socialists were quick to support Galtieri in 1982 - because they did not care for their fellow socialists he killed. They are weak. History respects only the strong. Who remembers the disapeared now? Only those who killed them my friend! We have Las Malvinas to debate, more war to think about, our boots to clean, the Mulatto to kick into the gutter where they belong, the Chilieans whose land we must take and the Falkland Islanders who are like ants ready for our jack boots. I hope you have polished your boots well my friend... or maybe you too are a socialist
