The next stage of his plan for self-aggrandizement has been hindered by the court refusing him a platform in public. He will, of course, be able to speak freely in court.

But within the constraints imposed bythe law of the land and overseen by the presiding judge; he does not have a free hand to say whatever he wants, and should be readily circumscribed if his statement becomes a rant.
It is important to reduce his opportunity for the polemic - the polemic being the root intent and the bombings/killings being the route to the intent.

Apparently he has been denied visitors and all correspondence (except for his lawyers) and placed in solitary confinement for a month. This is because he told police that there are two other 'cells' planning similar actions. He admits carrying out the killings but has pleaded not guilty to any criminal act. Mad or bad? Both, I think.

I don't know what he said in court once he was denied a public audience.

Interested to hear how he justifies these awful events but pleased the Courts have taken control at this juncture.

    “Mad or bad?” (Elaine #3)

This is a classic 'Catch 22'.

We - the family - spent some hours debating this in general terms, with respect to other killers, war, literature, and in this specific case.

Retribution can be maximised if he is not given the privilige if madness.

Classic capital punishment fails to provide sufficient societal retribution

    Life sentence in isolation, likewise.

Prison, allowing the other prisoners to exact hell over a long period, is a cop-out of social responsibility and ethical human behaviour.

    The 'best' answer proffered was:
Exact the same punishment that was given to Mel Gibson in Braveheart - The Rack, then hanging, drawing and quartering whilst still alive; but even this is over within a day. Perhaps, if Hell really exists, an infinity of demons can extend this into perpetuity.

As you would expect of me, I am opposed to capital punishment. : )

Most of all, when you cut through all the zenophobic, racist, misogynist, anti-government hatred, you see the narcissist. Most probably disconnecting him from his audience would hurt him more than anything.

Just hang him, it's a waste of tax money to send him in jail. But oh well, that's not going to happen in Norway (Neither in Holland if it would happen there). Strange that he didn't attack areas where muslims live, not that I want that to happen, just strange that attacked his own people.

the papers today are saying we was a loner and a compleat nut,
    but having said that
the prison term if found sane, would be 21 years, and out in say 15 or more, this does not sit well with them,
but on the other hand, the papers note, that the people would be happy, if he was found insane, and detained for life, ,,
    this sounds good,

but in the UK if we all remember, some people in broardmore and other places, can and are released into the world a lot earlier,
so what punishment would be better is anyones guess .

It is indeed ironic then, that all his victims were not Muslims....Mind you this is not surprising with brain dead lunatics, the IRA successfully managed to kill more members of the Catholic community than the catholic communities supposed oppressors.....
