As usual Mr Think was basing all of his statements on pure speculation and what he hoped would occur. Once again Think has been proved wrong (Rockhopper Exploration). Think and his cronies need exit their fantasy world and start believing the facts. We are not going anywhere.

    Subsidies, subsidies, subsidies......................

    The article says:
”Although money-loosing, the SAAS service with the South American continent rendered a great container service for the shipment of the Falklands’ fish, meat and wool.”

    I say:
Well, that’s the cunning plan…… All Malvinas business shall, step by step be rendered “money-losing” ones………..

Think, it is very simple, the last route became a permanent loss as the direct result of Argentina blackmailing the Int Container line SAAS linked in to- HamburgSud. That meant they were unable to offer competitive services for frozen fish - the main container cargo that would have made the route pay. All we need to do this time is link to a container line that does not operate to Argentina and can thus be bribed, and perhaps from a different continent as well. Rounds 1 and 2 to you we admit, in the bribing and economic threats to Maersk and then Hamburg Sud - but rest assured the Falklands - being British - will always win the final battle, and that is the important one.

I was reading about the life of David Rockefeller, and whoa! he is and has been doing so much for the global government, isn't he lovely? Founder Honorary Chairman of the Council of The Americas, Chairman of The Americas Society, Founder of the Forum of the Americas, Financial backer and board member of the Institute for International Economics, Founder and Honorary Chairman of the Trilateral Commision and many more achievements for this old chap lol and here you are fighting for a piece of land and oil that belongs to lovely Rockefeller and his friends hahaha You own nothing suckers, these guys own it everything hahaha
I wonder if George Walker Texas Ranger Bush will rule over us, I like him. The countries are getting united under the control of these super-rich greedy men :) Something is going to happen. I hope the islanders don't suffer...much :(

I can see how an adolescent UNASUR might use THI as a cause celebre, and could make as its first (and probably only) successful co-ordinated SA action, the isolation of TFI from the Continent.

This is not beyond the bounds of possibility, given the need for the continent to hang together when the going gets economically tougher around the world.

What might be bad for TFI might be good for the continent, but I cannot see any liklihood that SA could and would develop through continental co-ordination. Chavez is promoting this path but via an unacceptible and impractical ideology.
No, I can't see it happening.

    (25) Cher Isolde……………

Why do you Brits persist in that haughty believe that all foreigners are halfwits?
I understand perfectly what ”Better Half” means in English.
    And it’s not a British thing……................................................ It's a Viking thing.

It’s “Bättre Hälft” in Swedish and “Bedre Halvdel” in Norwegian and in Danish.
In the old days, it was used exclusively by Men to refer to their Women.
    You learned it from them Vikings together with thousands of other small(små) words(ord) as man(mand), house(hus), tree(træ), ship(skib), sword(sværd), knife(kniv) bow(bov), bread(brød)…..etc. etc.etc.etc………..…..................and etc.

Anyhow, I’m still pretty sure that it was Ms.Monty96 that wrote about her being “Half Chilean”……
But apparently, her “Lesser (British) Half” chose to misinterpret, misread and misquote my clear reference to her “Better (Chilean) Half”……..
You Brits (and half brits) are quite good at that………..

The Romans, the Greeks, the Egyptians, the Chinese and even the Babylonians may have used the CONCEPT, “Better Half” much before the Vikings.

But certainly not the TERM, “Better Half”, of unmistakable Scandinavian/Germanic origin:
    Bättre Hälft (Swedish)
    Bedre Halvdel (Danish/Norwegian)
    Besser Halb (German)
    Better Half (Anglo-Saxon)

    Think,

Apart from 'knife' and 'bow' if it means 'front of ship', none of these words are Norse borrowings. They were in English before the Viking invasions. They are of common Germanic origin so have cognates in a number of Germanic languages.

What is the origin of this expression?

Ancient Middle Eastern Origin of the Expression “Better Half”

One theory suggests that the origin of this is in an ancient Middle Eastern legend.
When a Bedouin man had been sentenced to death, his wife pleaded with the tribal leader that because they were married, she and her husband had become one, and that to punish one-half of the union would also punish the half who was innocent.
The court agreed and the man’s life was saved by his “better half
It was used that way by the Roman poet Horace and later by Statius.
Sir Philip Sidney was the first to put into print the use of this phrase to mean spouse, in The Countesse of Pembrokes Arcadia, 1580

    mind you, thinking about it,
as mr think is the expert, perhaps only his answers are sufficient,
