ENAP, Chile’s national oil and gas corporation announced it will invest 30 million dollars in drilling ten exploratory wells in Magallanes province, extreme south Patgonia and where the country’s main hydrocarbons resources are located. Read full article

    I guess we can expect the usual massed demonstrations on the Chilean streets protesting about oil and coal pollution, contamination and despoilation, just like we got with the (clean-energy) hydroelectric dam demonstrations.
    I wonder just how Chile will be allowed by its people to develop a near-zero-carbon energy economy if the key developments are polluting oil and coal.

    Perhaps, just perhaps, the hydro-demonstrations on the streets were just political anti-Government organised insurrection.
