Good that cooperation is going on. If these are sincere words it's good to know that the only goal is to keep improving South America's defence from external forces (clearly stronger nowadays).

It seems like a utopia, it seems repetitive, but it is very important work of these years of Nestor and Cristina Kirchner to gamble as a state policy of disarmament and non-violence and opt for dialogue and peace among peoples, the implementation of resolution 2065 UN in the sense of sitting at the negotiating table with Argentina in the Falklands conflict. This is its main strength and the fact is that Argentina has decreased significantly reducing their military spending to the essentials only. This contrasts with the aggressive arms of Great Britain to support a military base that threatens Latin America and Brazil is part of Latin America and the UNASUR is aware of this threat from Britain. Yet still the humanitarian bombing civilians in Libya along with NATO. This has fallen badly in world public opinion as this organization (NATO) is obsolete, since it was created to fight the former USSR, has become an instrument of colonialism and foreign intervention by the United States, Britain and Europe using the concept of preventive war, when they seek the face of global economic crisis is the exploitation of natural resources like oil in Libya, the Falklands and Iraq.
Britain's proposal is violence and the threat of covert military base, a policy to intimidate South America (UNASUR). Brazil with Argentina have realized this and that is why betting on Latin American integration based on dialogue and nonviolence, and with Uruguay are the only countries that can ensure this in the South Atlantic.

You have to give Argentina credit. A country and an administration so wedded to the 'big lie' for its own population that it thinks the rest of the world will believe it. Argentina, a country that destroyed its own economy to such an extent that it couldn't even afford sparklers. And now it would like the world to believe that it is set on a course of reducing military expenditure. Whilst working toward nuclear-powered submarines, missiles enhanced with Brazilian technology, so-called space launch vehicles convertible, with minor programming changes, to a ballistic missile and a space program aimed at “security” in space.

Meantime the administration continues to threaten a tiny, by comparison, territory that is peaceful and offers no security threat. And regularly lies to support its attempted theft.

But I'm glad someone's brought up the matter of Britain's covert military base. We thought we'd fooled everyone. Have you actually identified the headlands that slide to one side to allow the entrance and exit of warships, submarines and so forth? There's also the sections of mountain that slide down into the ground so that the underground hangars can be accessed. Certain areas, of course, have the camouflaged entry areas for the armoured divisions. I wonder if you've taken account of our nuclear-propelled and armed icebergs. Notice that all the oil drilling platforms are secret bases for Apache and Merlin attack helicopters. The platforms open like flowers. Then there's the undersea base. It's where Britain's troops and forces are kept until they are loaded on to the amphibious transport submarines.

Covert military base, Raul? What sort of fantasy pulp fiction do you read? Britain has overt military bases on the Falklands. Necessitated by a belligerent and psychotic neighbour. Oh, who's attacked whom recently? Bottom line, sonny, is that you don't have a clue. We know you're just mouthing what you've been told to. Do you get paid? Or get your ass shagged?

I am not normally rude, crude or overly aggressive or offensive on MercoPress. But if you believe the British military base in the Falkland Islands threatens peace in South America, you are truly stupid. You are beyond reason or mental therapy. You are so entrenched in Argentine propaganda you are not an individual of independent thought, you are a zombie, a shell of a human being, a waste of skin.

All the evidence I need to refute the belief that Mount Pleasant threatens the peace in South America, you only have to go back 29 years and see who the aggressor is. That British base is there to defend the Falklands people and ensure the Falkland Islands remain democratic and free.

Raul, I have pity for you. Truly.

Its truly incredible how the empire can brainwash its pawns. How any of these morons can criticize Argentona for attacking a so called peaceful island when there empire has spent the best part of 800 years savageing native peoples all over the planet.Raul as they get every year a little weaker its going to be difficult for them to cope.Of course they recognize their demise is imminent but as in one of Borges stories they imagine everything remains the same.Just as they try and paint Argentina as a wicked nation when the likes of Hitler was merely a moderate student of their centuries old brutality which brakes out every so often on their island

I appreciate your sincerity, I agree with you, I'm not normally rude, crude or overly aggressive or offensive.
Return the criteria of another forumer of this blog: Malen
Thinking differently is the most normal thing in democracy and freedom. And to express my view and yours with you. Vehemently, vehemently and front itself. I find it interesting to hear that probably will not write the story that their voices are heard and that they are weaker. They are saying something important to be heard and not being heard. As Evita Perón said: ”Whoever wants to hear, listen, if history is written by those who win wars massacring innocent, that means there is another story, the real story, who wants to hear, listen.

Raul, I have pity for you. Indeed

Me too, I have hurt you, not a reactionary response, at least you is not expressed with insults.
With all due respect, you take the pill on CNN, BBC, NBC's speech multimedia Anglo-Saxon West.
With all humility, be critical of the media view and listen to other versions and news agencies. I can be wrong, but I try to listen and verify the accuracy of all sources of public opinion.
Although I have much to learn, it is worth fighting for peace as did Amnesty International, Mahatma Gandhi, Luther King, John Lennon, Pérez Esquivel, Carlos Saavedra Lamas, and so on.

you cant really convince us you are going to be peacefull, if you are intent on nuclear submarines,
brazil and argentina, has no logicle reason to have them, you have no natual enemies except other south american countries,
    .
but the existence of nuclear weapons by either of you, will almost certainly cause an upsergence in military build up,
[between other south american countries] who ironicly will fear you,
remember that argentina does not have a very good record with other south american countries,

Brazil and Argentina, the puppy in all this, will be sully responsible, if other s.a. countries start to build up their defences,
brazil and Argentina are not that broke, or that stupid, as well you know, and considering the UK government is reducing our ability at this moment in time, both brazil and Argentina , are not that undefended, or unarmed as they make out,
The future of the south is your problem, don’t use great Britain as an excuse to increase your ability to attack others far weaker than your selves .

Briton, seriously, why are you concerned about nations in the South Atlantic? the future in your country looks far more problematic than in South America. If I were you, I would concentrate more on that because you live there, it's your future there not here in the Americas.

Given we hold sovereingty of the falkland islands and have a very close bond and relationship with the islanders themselves (I.e. would defend them with our blood and lifes, and vice versa), and given the fact old Plastic face and you argentinas like to mouth off about getting the islands sovereingty, with no regards to the wishes our rights of the islanders rights to self determination, then britian and all other english men, women and children have every right to be concerned with what is happening in South America.

Also our problems are nothing compared to what argentina is facing, you are on a course for self economic implosion, i.e. you country can not substain its self, your inflation will be your downwall and right now its looking like its two late for you to do anything about it, so in 5 years time your country will implode under its own wieght. Mark my words fido and don't say we didn't warn you old brain washed fools.

“a peace zone, free of nuclear weapons”-- is that because you haven't got any nuclear weapons(but would like to have them)?

what about your “nuclear” sub, argentina? what are you going to do with the spent fuel?- try to make weapons?
what hypocrites! Argentina, a “peaceful nation”!

Its no where near bleak over here as it is over in argentina. Your inflation is at 25% set to rise to 30% within the year, your constant devaluation of your currency and (near empty national reserves), which only increases the rise of inflation, Whats next you ask - Well how does Argentina becoming another zimbawe sound, because thats where your governments currenty economic policies will take you.

Yes devaulation of the peso helps your exporters export goods in the short term, but the increasing inflation means the costs of producing such goods will increase and end up pricing your exporters out of the export market.

Conqueror (#7), re. Raul #3, etc,

Virgil Tracy: “Thunderbird Two to Thunderbird One, do you read me?”
    [Thunderbird One does not answer]
John Tracy: “He's got to have made it, he's GOT to.”
Virgil Tracy: “Thunderbird Two to Thunderbird One, do you read me?”
    [static]
    Scott Tracy: “Loud and clear.”

Seems like our Argentinian, the space-missiles-and-nukes-man Minister of Defense (“Ta, Rah!!!”) has move from his Video diet of 'Thunderbirds' to his newer second-hand Video-tape, the all-singing-and-dancing 'Space 1999':

Prof. Victor Bergman: [last message before evacuating Alpha]
“We are Mankind. We came from planet Earth, and we built this base, called Alpha, to learn more about space. But human error blasted this Moon out of the Earth's orbit.
And so, we have traveled the Universe searching for a place to live. Now, we can no longer live here, and we go to face an uncertain future on the planet that has nearly destroyed us.
You, whoever you are, who find this empty vessel of Alpha, come and seek us out, if we still exist.
Come and teach us all you know.
Because, we have learned many things, but most of all, we have learned we still have much to learn. ”

NB. Raul: Thunderbirds = International Rescue, and both it and Space 1999 were, like Startrek , parables on the folly of war and the better track to peace.
Much can be learned from the messages of simple puppet toys on TV.

This involves committing to many human social values, political sovereignty, economic independence and social justice.
It's about privilege and honor the life, the culture of death. Here in Argentina we have several examples:

If you're really honest and critical assessment, see the following link and discuss it without prejudice and insults:

    Hi Raul, etc,
you will see from my various postings that I am generally 'on the side of the angels'.

Wrt declaring the S Atlantic a nuclear free zone, it is important to speak to the Americans, the Russians, the British, the French, the Chinese, and all the other countries that maintain a marine nuclear capacity. Most will move covertly between the Atlantic and the Pacific, though few will bother to linger along the South American coastline, there is no need.

A declaration of this sort needs the capacity to enforce it; Unasur is perhaps a century away from being able to do this.

    They threaten the islanders,
    They ignore the islanders
    They refuse to acknowledge them,
The refuse them their fundamental rights,
    The blockade them,
YEP Argentina sure is a peaceful country that respects others,
YEP many examples, but only if your argentine, otherwise we don’t know you,
