Mmm, whatever happens, they will be commemorations not celebrations.

what arrogance. don't they have their hands full with Afghanistan, Libya and Iraq?
iraq: shameful intervention with thousands of innocent dead.
libya: complete disregard to the GA resolution which limited the intervention to a “no-fly” zone; and allowing the rebels to perpetrate all sorts of human rights violations whist the government forces are being chased.
afghanistan: thousands of dead people in a war that few people know what they are fighting for.

but hey! lets celebrate a 30 year old war and offend another country in the process.

but as my old poker buddy used to say: what comes around goes around.

    Troneas
If you had won, I'm sure you would still be celebrating in a thousand years, so I don't think you can blame us for “offending” you.

We should invite Queen Botox to the celebrations anyway. Mrs Kirchner and her cronies might make a drop a few more hilarious inaccuracies for the civilised world to laugh at.

Troneas, to understand some blowhards here, you need to live there. They love that patriotic BS because it makes them feel great. If you read SamSalzman, you would think he was involved in that war..(we won..geez..who is we). Of course it's another kid with the title “keyboard warrior”
Yep, rather than concentrating on the real issues (Zombie banks looting the british people by printing more money of thin air), their government takes everything out of their closet (old glory) to make the british in the UK feel like “ Yeah, oh look how great we are today and look at our heroes”...meanwhile in the Falklands: yeah whatever, just make sure you keep protecting us with your tax money.

Financial terrorism in the UK continues: Unemployment rises and hit 2.51 million (and god knows more if you don't manipulate the numbers)

It’s a year away, and already the argie bloggers are running scared,
And the Argentina government will be next, together they will try every trick in the book to look like the injured party, after crying to the OAS-UN-NATO-BRICS-BRAZIL-HUGO-HUMAN RIGHTS-AND THE ABANDON CHILDRENDS FUND, they will then resort to the [we are a peaceful and non violent nation]
And the [British are being nasty for not inviting us, blab la]
But as everyone in the world has told them, [YOU STARTED THE BLOODY THING so stop moaning]
As for the British, umm a royal flypast, with the latest RAF jets,
Ships galore in including the type 45s, an astute sub, the British army, and, The Brigade of Ghurkhas, and to top it all of, bring the re-enactment society,
To re-enact the battles, showing how the British won,
Remind the world how a tiny little island 8,000 miles away, out gunned
out manned, and with only a few planes, kicked out a much bigger force, who aggressively and illegally invaded a tiny unarmed and defenceless little island,
had its backside whacked mmm ??,,

Are you happy being a arsehole Fido, unlike most Dutch people

On the approach to the gate is the “flowers in the wind” memorial. This marks the beautiful annual ceremony where Dutch local children lay flowers on each grave. There are 1,314 UK Army casualties, plus 243 unknowns. There are also 78 RAF and 81 Non Commonwealth Foreign Nationals. Among them are 3 Victoria Cross winners:

I suppose the Argies would also like to critics us for commenerating our victory over a dictator in 1945, considering as they have some reason to hate us for defeating their murderous dictator in 1982. We know you really love us in playing our part in helping you get back in the road to democracy.

Regarding “old glory”, at least we have some, the nearest Argentina have come to such a thing is “old spice”.

And never ever forget that it was because of a bunch of thieving lying bastards from Argentina that thought Britain would roll over that we have one more celebration of commemoration to add to our long list.

    Gentlemen,

Our Argentine contributors may spout all the bile and utter filth they feel the need to. In doing so, they show themselves up for what they really are; bitter and spiteful. You do yourselves no favours by responding in kind.

If the UK and the Falkland Islands wish to conduct a solemn service, to remember the dead of a war of liberation, they are perfectly within their rights to do so. To honour the fallen is not a celebration and the words chosen by this reporter were a poor one.

As in the 25th anniversary, the service will honour the dead on both sides. If Argentina has a problem with that, then again they show themselves up for what they really are. At least we honour our servicemen and women and do not treat them like a shameful secret.

And so gentlemen, this is one subject upon which baiting the usual suspects is not helpful.

Malen, when I lived in BA around the anniversary of your defeat the gov't had grossly exaggerated heroic stories of the invasion, dramatic live plays, TV specials playing 24 hr day on the gov't channels, planted newspaper articles all over a defeat? You should be embarrassed not glorifying it! Don't you know the difference between losing and winning?

@22 You have to consider the possibility that if Argentina had not put the Islands on the agenda so much recently, as part of CFK's re-election campaign, this planned commemoration may not have happened at all in 2012. (I would be surprised if MT is well enough to attend anything). Argentina has ramped up the issue as every possible opportunity. You cannot be surprised if the UK feel they need to redress the balance a little.

On the other hand, it may be that Mercopress knows that every single article about TFIs will get a lot of hits and that is good for their business. More hits = more advertising revenue. And they are giving their readers more of what they seem to want.

how britain respects those who died for their country, to defend democracy and freedom, all should be rememberd,
but you can gamble on the fact, that argentina will no doubt make a compleat fool of herself, for she to can remember her dead, at the same time in argentina, or be ignored, come 2012 and we will see ,

warship meet up side by side over the wargrave of the Belgrano and hold a joint service to commemorate in 2007. Guess who refused!
We Islanders gather at our Liberation Memorial every 14th June to commemorate and respect those who fell, the preceeding church service specifies the fallen of BOTH sides. We do NOT celebrate there.

Later yes we have a party and celebrate the day our freedom and democracy was restored to us. But this is very different from the commemoration services in Church and at the Memorial.

Maggie Thatcher inherited an even worse economic situation than exists today. Despite this she took difficult decisions that took time to have the desired effect. When she left office, the UK was at its strongest and most influential for decades.
Did the 1982 conflict ensure her re-election?
I simply don't know. Didn't do it any harm but if she had lost the Falkland Islands then she and her party would have been finished.

Anyway while we are sticking the boot into Argentines (well they were put on earth for that very reason) I have another joke about them.

An Englishman, Irishman & Argentinian walk along a road, and kick over a lamp. Out pops a genie and it grants each of them a wish.

Irishman: “I am a fisherman, as are my son and grandson. I want the seas to be full of fish for all time.” His wish was granted.

Argentinian: “I love my country very much but am fed up with the whole world putting us down all the time. I want a wall around my country to keep them out.” His wish was granted.

Englishman: “This wall sounds interesting, tell me about it.”
Genie: “Well, it’s 50 feet thick and 150 feet tall, and nothing can get in or out.”

    Englishman: “Fill it with water.”

I like the image I have of her.

But, the internet being the internet, she may be, as you say, 'a hairy male English retiree'. I assure you she is not my alter ego - though I like the thought of her being Superman to my Clark Kent.

Modesty Blaise perhaps (for those of a certain age) ; so much more 'ambiguous' than a mere tomb raider.

    Or Cat Woman, she also does it for me ;-) ;
a shy, sensitive graphic artist Patience Philips, endowed with the speed, reflexes, and senses of a cat, she walks the thin line between criminal and hero, even as detectives doggedly pursues her, fascinated by her dual personas.

Finish what? Promise what? Calling you a dumb ass, is that what I'm supposed to finish? I've been doing that all day because you won't leave me alone. In fact, you're saying 'laters' all day but you won't go away. And who started what? Looking at this thread you're the one who addressed me first. The same on the other thread. The problem is that when you scalate you go too far since you can't really be anything but vulgar. Don't be too kind on yourself thinking it was me who asked Mercopress to delete your betise. As you said, Mercopress will occasionally do that, and you got picked because, well, you're a lowlife. Anyway, now it is me who'll have to leave. and mind I do have to leave, in contrast to you who'll keep watching this to see if I'll keep posting. Sad, huh? And you're the one who's racist. No doubt you'll be calling me a Brazilian monkey if I provoke you further.

    “Brazilian monkey”?????????????????
Where did that come from? Exactly what planet are you on?
If you twist anymore you'll end up your own backside.
And you have the nerve to call me low life.
Look these are boards to come to and leave as we please.
Mercopress can do as they want but you don't dictate to me or anyone else for that matter.
As for me being vulgar, well perhaps have but then I don't remember you being particularly polite either.

We should send our war vetrans to the islands next year to occupy your airport, this could be used as a pretext for invasion when they are arrested entering Argentine territory by illegal colonial pirates.

We can then remove all the illegal pirates from our islands, one way or another :)
