We will have the type of government that we want.
lf we want to be a kingdom, then we will be a kingdom.
lf we want to be a republic, then we will be a republic.
lf we want to be a British Overseas Territory, then we will be a B.O.T.
lf we want to be a colony, then we will be a colony.
lt is OUR business & absolutely NOTHING to do with Argentina.
    Get lost, Argentina.

Of course they want to be a B.O.T. because their are BRITISH.

In Malvinas they are a implanted population illegally in an Argentinian territory. They have rights, but Argentina too.

    1) Its not Mavinas - its The Falkland Islands
    2) Not implanted
    3) Not illegal
    4) Not Argentinian territory and never has been.
    5) Argentina has no rights over British Territory.

Apart from that we are in full agreement. Now go boil your head.

'Be serius' You an me are not diferent. We both have ours positions.
    1) Is not Falklands, is Malvinas.
    2) Was implanted in 1833, when the argentinian was expelled.
    3) Because 2) was illegal.
    4) Argentinian terrytory since 1810, reafirmed in 1829.
    5) British has not rights over argentinian terrotory.

    @ Danniel

So which Argentinian was expelled? You mean the German Luis Vernet and his British ex pats, who were there under terms agreed with the British?

Or is it Juan Esteban Francisco Mestivier who was murdered by his own men, who then raped his wife?

As hard as I search for this Argentine you speak of I can find him. Maybe you mean Matthew Brisbane the British man who deputised for Vernet?

Or could it be William Dickinson his other British deputy?

Please also let me know, when did the Falkland Islands change their name? Sorry I've searched long and hard. Just a bunch of childish numpties in Argentina who insist on calling it some silly name no one else knows about.

@8 Have you been reading those comic strips your government publishes for the schoolkids?

    1) I guess you can call them Malvinas if you like. You could also call a giraffe a camel but it wouldn't change what it is. By the way, the United Nations recognises the United Kingdom as the administering authority for the Falkland Islands. So we'll call them what we want.
    2) No British were implanted in 1833. No Argentines were expelled. There was an illegal garrison of troops from the United Provinces who were sent on their way. But no Argentines.
    3) Britain took possession of the Falkland Islands in 1690. Even Spain had nothing there until the French sold them their bit. Later on Spain tried to force Britain to leave. Britain asked Spain if they'd like a war. Spain gave in.
    4) Argentina didn't exist in 1810. No country can inherit territory from another. You need a treaty. Where's your treaty with Spain?
    5) Britain doesn't want any rights over Argentine territory.

    Got it straight now?

William Hague, will do what is needed, it has been noted, [abet ]
That the possibility was looked at, to stage a royal navy out station either,
on the Falklands or , St Helena, to ensure replenishment and re-enforcement when required,
but yet to be discussed as a possibility if needed, to fully support and protect the oil companies assets, and the flow of future oil,
    [just a thought ,]

When the ratings fall and the rioters see through the “Malvinas nirvana b******” where will Old Plastic Face’s private jet head? Perhaps she will hole up in Patagonia ‘Gadaffi-esque’, with the requisite rantings of a mentally-ill despot? Perhaps safe passage might be found in the Falklands (whose inhabitants, in direct contrast to the Argentines are indeed the native inhabitants of the land on which they live) where one does not need to worry about being ‘disappeared’, as she might be if some US-sponsored junta wrests control (for fear that anyone to the left of Thatcher might be considered “Socialist”). At least several thousand people in South America have something bearing some sort of resemblance to Western democracy and the rule of law. Thank the Lord for the Falklands. We hope and pray the New World colonies grow up and learn how to relate to the international community. Bush has gone and one day Plastic Face and, with her, vile madame Clinton will go. Let us please engage with someone from the Americas who actually has a brain for once. Europe is so vastly superior to you and the rest of the world that we laugh at you and cry at your third world and North American ghetto mindset. Perhaps develop some sort of language of your own? Or some sort of culture? Animals.

In times of perturbation, such as the world is urrently experiencing, lots of little snappy countries try to win advantage whilst the big beasts try to get the world back on track.

Time, in this case, for the UK to be unambiguous and public in its defence of the positions of the BOTs & BAT.

Snappy countries only do snappy things when they belive that the big beast has taken his eye off the ball and because it has a lot on its plate.

(Don't you just love mixing metaphors)

    Hi XBox,

yes, indeed, England was one of those snappy little countries when Spain ruled the Spanish Main and most of South America - and England wanted 'a piece of the action'.

Then Argentina became a snappy little country when it snapped up lots of land and little countries in the Southern Cone.
Now it has become a Snappy Big Country, I think it would like to keep on snapping, but people won't let it.

That's why we have things called the UN and the ICJ - to stop too much snapping.

I can’t believe that you actually believe all this rubbish,
But even if it was true,
Then their would be only two reasons they would deactivate nuclear
    Weapons
1, they want peace, and plan to visit us very soon.
    Or
2, they are friends of Argentina, and are telling us to leave you alone,
And that you have powerful friends,
    Both options are possible,
1, as we all know that aliens are there somewhere ??
    And
2, you have GEO working on secret deals with them .???

This is what International and Multilateral Institutions like the UN were created to avoid. This lack of coexistence effort, this lack of peaceful attitudes, this childish and selfish attitudes that become a real TERROR when they come not from a person but from a conservative and warrior government.

It is really a pity that the british good people, the ones who want a more democratic world, those who want clear rules for global coexistence, are represented today by this conservative government that ESCAPES from dialogue at the UN.

Installing imperial discipline around the world will not make it safer.

Even when the ONU structure is unfair for its Security Council, even when Great Britain's conservative government keeps on making this world UNSAFER in stead of making it more peaceful, even then Argentina keeps claiming with transparency and diplomacy, the International Community is recognizing this more and more.

Great Britain's story is not the story of a power that goes around the world protecting small group of europeans out of europe in the name of the WORLD PEACE and JUSTICE. Let's put things as they are.

    @31fermin,
So what would you have us do, fermin? Give our country on a plate to Argentina simply because they are a“peaceful”(trying not to laugh!)country and we supposedly use force to keep OUR lslands.
lts not your land, never has been & never will be.
lts ours & we will do what we like here & you can cry, scream & moan as much as you like.
You & your country are so full of it.
lf you had the courage of your convictions, you would either take the case to court or would go to war.
But you'll do neither because you know deep down in your soul that you are wrong.
lt is none of your business what we do.

It is a drip, drip approach to tacking over the Falkland Islands and you know it.

Discussions about what? There should be closer ties between Argentina and the Falklands, but sovereignty is non-negotiable and that is the end game. Your country does not even recongise the Falkland Islands, until it does and accepts that the Falklands has absolute right over its own sovereignty, there is nothing to negotiate.

Could you imagine the UK threatening Iceland and claiming on the grounds of proximity, it belongs to the UK? Do you think the Icelantic people would be willing to negotiate sovereignty? Do you think they would be won over by threats and intimidation? Do you think they would be impressed by ultra nationalists, waving the flag and jumping up and down over every government move to attack that islands sovereignty? Claiming they have no rights?

What Argentina is doing now is disgusting and it's time right thinking Argentines stood up and told their government they will not allow the Falklands to be used as a political tool of distraction. That Argentine policy is wrong. That the links between the people of the Falklands and the history of Patagonia is strong and that shared history in blood and culture should be embraced and built on but the Argentine government - made up largely of second and third generation European immigrants - has no right to be using a one dimensional propagandised version of Argentine history in which to whip up the masses into racial anger and national zeal against the people of the Falklands, everything from their history to what they wish to call themselves. It's a disgusting abuse, from a disgusting government, the Kirchner's links to past massacres and their dynasty almost a carbon copy of another Argentine dynasty (again fascist) they have modeled themselves on Peron's. Using the exact same tactics on the Falklands to distract people from their failures, holding on to power by any means possible.

#5 Danniel “Of course they want to be a B.O.T. because their are BRITISH.

In Malvinas they are a implanted population illegally in an Argentinian territory. They have rights, but Argentina too. ”

They are no more implanted than you are. They are the first settlers on the Falkland Islanders ever. Some have ancestry which goes back before Argentina even existed, and they were there before Argentina's failed attempts to colonise the Falkland Islands in 1832 and 1833. Others are not British at all but have, among others, Chile, Russia, France, and yes, Argentina as their origin. Some Argentines have settled in the Falkland Islands since the 1982 occupation and accept British sovereignty there.
Furthermore, if they are implanted, then what are you? You are all Spaniards (or Fleeing Nazis) who came over there to colonise South America. At least in the Falklands there were no native people to throw out, whereas you stole the natives' land and posessions, often in the most brutal of ways. So don't come to us talking about illegal populations.
