Alejandro. You can cancel the stop in Rio Gallegos, but you can't stop LAN flying direct from Pta Arenas to the Falklands. Anyway, the only people who will lose out are Argentines, because tied into the same agreement is access to the Falklands for Argentine passport holders.

What Argentine 'goodwill' Alejomartinez? Lan Chile operate the flight and the inhabitants (Islanders, Chileans & Argentines who live there) pay for the seats, so where is the Argentine 'goodwill' in that? Argentina typically bullied Lan into not resuming the flights in 1999 unless Argentine passport holders were allowed to visit the Islands. This happened. So if Argentina again bullies Lan Chile into stopping the flights then the only people who will be disadvantaged will be the Argentine war veterans, next-of-kin and journalists who take the flight from Rio Gallegos once a month. The 1999 Agreement will be revoked. The Islanders can fly directly to England TWICE a week with another airline so who needs the link to South America? It will be yet another 'own goal' by Argentina. Those Argentine passengers who visit the Islands on cruise ships will be mad as hell at Mrs Kirchner when they find they cannot get off the ship when it reaches the Falklands, because of her stupidity.

Argentina's goodwill comes in the form of trying to enforce an economic blockade on the Falklands, trying to deny the islanders human rights, trying to destroy fish stocks in the south Atlantic to damage the Falklands economy, banning continental charter flights to the Falklands, threatening international container ship companies from partnering with the Falklands private sector, and of course, invading the islands.

How? the flight would would have to fly south over Chilean Tierra de Fuego and then east around Cape Horn well outside of Argentine air-space. This would increase the flight time to nearly three hours and the cost of the flight per passenger would more than double.
No more shopping trips in Punta or Santiago for you chey!

I hope CFK does attempt to halt the weekly flight. (Although she did not actually say she would, just hinted at it in that rambling speech she made). If she does she will move any support there is away from the Argentine government as it really is the most petty-minded move. Maybe that is why we have heard no more about it, she reflected on the negative reaction she would get outside of Argentina. And it somewhat undermines her 'victim' stance.

Argentina is a flourishing economy and an established democracy and has the courage to laugh in the faces of the kleptocrats that have imprisoned the British in a deadly web of debt and control your politicians.
If the islanders come over the South America they will be be to retain their british citizenship, they will have strong links to the mainland which will be subsidised and will give them outstanding opportunities for business development. Their oil industry will benefit from the support and protection of Argentina so they will be able to fully develop their oil industry in which every islander will have some form of investment which will secure their financial future.
Times have changed Elaine. This is not the age of galtieri and the Juntas - it is the age of opportunity and wealth and the Islanders could be right in the middle of it if they want.

If you believe the UK is a spent economic power you must live in a hermetically sealed bubble of misinformation. Argentina was bankrupt 10 short years ago and is struggling to make debt repayments without plundering the resources of private institutions. And the problem CFK faces is that she has run out of other people's money to spend.
To put it in simplistic terms, an Argentine calling the UK broke is like the clinically obese kid in the playground taunting a kid carrying a couple of extra pounds. Look in the mirror.
But even if Argentina were the great economic force for the future, why would the Falkland Islanders want to work with a country that insults them and takes punitive action against them? It only serves to galvanise the population against you.
A Chilean Consulate in Stanley is needed more than ever- as in the past.

The UK has a higher proportion of its population in relative low income than most other EU countries: of the 27 EU countries, only 4 have a higher rate than the UK. The proportion of people living in relative low income in the UK is twice that of the Netherlands and one-and-a-half times that of France.
Successive UK governments have almost erased Britain capacity to manufacture so you cannot earn your way of of the coming depression - a depression that will exceed that of 1929 in its affect upon the common man.

I would not put too much store in some of the other figures you quote, without giving sources.
The fact is, whatever state the UK is in, it does not strengthen Argentina's baseless claim to the Falklands one iota.
I thought the point was rather obvious Sr. Roberts - Britain is failing and within five years it will be in no position to continue paying the $150,000,000 a year it presently pays to maintain the defence of the Falklands and certainly in no position to repeat its performance in 1982 so I am simply suggesting that the islanders take the opportunity to secure their future and their wealth by taking advantage of all the opportunities South America - which is the world's fastest growing economic sector- is offering.

I have seen the 1999 agreement, and when referring to LAN it states an airline from a third-party nation. At no point does it state or claim that Chile or LAN recognises Argentine sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.
Lets please stick to the facts Argentines.
It seems that Chile, particularly Puntas Arenas, values the Falkland Islands and Britain more than it does the sick psychos of Argentina.

LAN Airlines has the aircraft to fly between Puntas Arenas and the Falklands without ever crossing Argentine territory. Even if the Stone Age Argentine radar could detect an aircraft. As a matter of interest, the current estimated UK defence expenditure on the Falkland Islands is £365 million or US$657 million. This is 0.03% of British GDP. So much for your quoted US$150 million. And we can keep this up for 10 thousand years!
Face it, Argies. Britain is so far beyond you that you don't have a hope in a thousand years. Why? Because the UK's GDP is around a thousand times yours. Yours talks in billions. Our talks in trillions.

Magellan Strait airspace is under chilean sovereignity, up to the Atlantic Ocean. How could the flight be legally stopped by Argentina?

I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Mtller here and it was a nice visit......We talk about differents issues related to the P. arenas - Stanley links.

I´m sure that local farmersas well as the agricultural students have learnt a lot from his experience and so will do the students that will stay at Falklands next summer.....I don´t know personally Mr. Andy Pollard but by e-mail and he was very kind to answer me about turnip growing for cattle feed....
The links between F.I. and P. Arenas has been very successful from long ago and will continue so....
BTW, next Saturday will have an interesting article ( the third) over this issue in La Prensa Austral newspaper as part of a complete report on Falklands Islands way of life.
Mr. Pollard and Mr. Miller, I hope you have had a a very nice week here....enjoy it.
We hope the commercial, technical and cultural links will grow up successfuly, despite the threats and badwillings.

The Falklands garrison costs less than 1% of the entire UK defence budget. I think we can comfortably keep that up for a very long time. And when the oil flows, the Falkland Island Government have already said they will pay for their defence or as much of it as they can afford.

Incorrect. The UK learned lessons from 1982 and is in a much better position than then. What's more, Argentina is in a far worse position than it was in 1982. I doubt the Argentine military could pull the skin off a custard, let alone mount an invasion of the Falklands, even one on the same scale as 1982.
The Falklands don't need Argentina to take advantage of any opportunities, and if there was such a great advantage to being part of Argentina I'm sure they would have done it by now... Oh, and they are well positioned, if the oil flows, to get incredibly wealthy anyway...

I've lost the bookmark but this information came right from the governments website and had figures for every year dating back to 1981.
I have a kukri. Can anyone produce Filippo? Although I have no problem using my kukri to remove Filippo's head, I think I should remove his genitals, legs and arms first. I think chopping his genitals into small pieces before his eyes and shoving them down his throat would also be a good idea. Does anybody have alternatives? Tim is currently swimming back, Andrew requested asylum in Argentina, he couldn't swim back due to his weight. He crossed the border wearing a jacket with the Argentinean colors(picture above) and saying that he lives in Malvinas Argentinas.

Think, the third one was offside by little margin (its the only goal the argentine television does not show the typical offside-freeze-proof, and thats for a gooood reason), but it doesn't matter. This is not an excuse for the really catastrophic gameplay of Chile yesterday, the worst presentation I have seen since about 5 years of our national team. You deserved the win, and in some cases Argentina could also have increased the score. The Chilean players had moral totally down, possible the reason they didn't care for the offside goal anymore...

Let’s say that, if it was off side, it was by a pelo de vicuña….., impossible for the referees to judge.

Not a good move the change Bielsa for el guaton parrillero, great guy though but his defense look like a colador as his past Boca jr. defense.
Our defense is not doing much better...
Think, on that angle of the video you have given it simple cannot be seen, as it is not a parallel recording. But maybe Marco can give you the link, where it was proven it was offside.

I don't blame the referee, he didn't do a bad job, I have seen really bad referees in other matches, so this was ok. The general rule says:
“in case of doubt due to minimal margin, judge in favour of the attack!”
No bad feelings about that (only about OUR horrible performance).
Anyway, you should be aware we have not been a real test on this day, you shouldn't believe that everythings fine now, you will probably have trouble with other teams, like Uruguay, which I see much more stable.
And yes Marco, most people in Chile were against Bielsa's departure, he was the most popular national coach we ever had, but the soccer mafia won, like always...typically Fifa struture. Unfortunately... Bichi is a good guy, but bad professional (as coach)
there is a plan in the European union that when Argentina stops the flights to the Falklands,the European union will stpo the flightas of aerolineas to European cities ,and probaby Obama will join this
