Pretty unsure whether an EU-Mercosur will ever happen.
Better to have parallel nation-nation bilateral talks, if the two trading blocs have clauses which allow for this.

    At this moment in time,
The only thing Germany and France are committed to-
Is holding their breath and preying that Greece does not default,
    .

Germany doesn't care about the EU, it doesn't care about the EURO. They know eventually the EURO will blow up and will go back to the strong German mark + a unified Germany (what was paid under the umbrella of the Euro). Think about it. Germany has a strong export market, they had it under a strong german mark, strong euro, weak euro. Germans know how to work efficient and make products what the world wants. Germany is number one manufacturing and innovation base. I do not type this to hype up Germany, but that's is a fact.
now the Euro is being trashed because of the Greek, Portugal, Ireland etc. etc. crises, Germany's economy is doing okay, not great, but okay and sometimes good. Once they step out of the Euro (what will happen) they have a strong Deutsche Mark. the good old one, what won't bother them at all to have free trade agreement with Mercosul/Mercosur, because they already have a foothold in that area, mainly in Brazil where there more German companies than in German itself. Strong currency is Import cheap from there, that won't bother them because they still make Quality products what the rest of the world wants, what is a good position to compete head to head with China.

    Germany NEEDS the Euro.
They price their goods for export in Euros, which are priced at a European Eurozone common denominator - a good deal cheaper that the goods would be if they were German-priced in Deutschmarks.
This has helped Germany to retain a buoyant industrial base at a time when most other nations have exported their production to cheaper countries like China, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc.
So Germany has more resilience; countries with little left in the way of industrial production find themselves more exposed.

    Germany NEEDS the Euro.

Your mother does. No, they don't need the Euro. They've always have done well under the Mark after world war 2.
Cheap Euro is good for their Exports, but not for the people who see their purchasing power fading away and that pisses them off, duhh. Just like you are crying and will cry harder how your pension will fade in value away, slowly (those ugly brits keep printing digital money what isn't worth the paper)

    So Germany has more resilience

yes, because they build stuff that foreigners want/need.
other European countries like greece, spain, portugal, ireland barely produce real stuff to export (except with foreign help) and are more exposed to become nations of peassants, like the UK. Uk was only cool during the financialization boom what is gone. That's all what it had.

, To be honest, at this moment in time, I don’t think anyone needs the euro,
    But some want it,
Germany and a few others do not need the euro,
    But want the euro,
It depends on how you interpret it , ,
France has never trusted Germany, [im not going down that road]
but perhaps by tying and instantiating and coupling Germany and France together, this suits France,, perhaps im wrong, but France has interest far beyond most, she is powerful, but not the power house,,
Germany is the powerhouse, and not powerful, put them together and what do you have, a powerhouse that is very powerful,, this is what France needs to get her ambition, the united states of Europe, or along those lines, they want one union, one flag, ect ect, and wants to drag kicking and screaming, a very reluctant Britain, and they know this,
corruption from the top, the British people want nothing to do with euro gravy train, the government on the other hand, promises promises,.
did you see Cameron in parliament, he wont agree to a referendum, as Britain is not ready, and will order all conservative MPs, to vote against it on Monday ,labour and lib/dems have done the same,
a government, going against its own people, what does that tell you,
Perhaps he is being told from a higher authority,
the euro may be good for some, and not for others, Greece should be allowed to leave, but this will upset French plans, they will sacrifice any amount to stop Greece going under, even Germany herself is getting cold feet, there leader could be pouring billions down the drain, for what,
Once again to save the greedy bankers, and fxuck the rest of you,
    Just my opinion
