”Of course there are a lot of external factors that may affect these forecasts for the 2011/2012 tourism season, the biggest being how the weather is for the cruise ship landings and the continued uncertainty in the world economy, concluded Paul.“

    Ahhhhhhhhhh........ Ok then.
This ”Paul” is a cheeky little tinker, isn't he.... :-)

Maybe Paul or FITB need to clarify the numbers .........“Almost 8,000 overnight tourists are expected to visit the Islands, spending over £4.6 million”.
That's an average £ 575 per person expenditure (compared with £ 108 pp for all 69,000 visitors), or are these 8,000 somehow different/apart from the overall total.
If the 8,000 super-rich are actually part of the 69,000, then it looks like the other 61,000 ordinary guys are spending £ 48 per head, which is still not bad if all they have time for is a quick visit to the Gift Shop and to have a pie and a pint at the Vic or the Globe!

The difference is due the most overnight passengers must stay there one week between LAN flights with hotel, food and entertainment expenditure, different to the cruise ship´s passenger just for the day expenditure.....

Sergio- Thanks for the point well made.
Maybe I was misled by the same term of 'overnight visitors', but the fly-ins are bound to stay longer.

  • Anti-Fascist

Every time they see a positive story the Argentine nationalist fascists who populate this site jump in with some negative remarks and insults. Interesting that they don't mind being seen for what they are.

I would never dream of doing the same in Spanish (or any other language) on an Argentine website. There is common decency, mutual respect and then there is fascism (characterised by zero respect for any side other than your own), different extremes.

I wonder now, which is the better attitude? I doubt they have the intelligence to figure it out. What it means or where it leads, they probably don't care. They are at the end of the day cowards.
