    In her letter of resignation, Emma Edwards wrote:

    ”On the issue of the Falklands (Malvinas) we obviously value are ample relation with Argentina but we do not want any issue related to the Falklands dominates our bilateral relations”.added the Foreign Office.
    Unquote

    Quite a lot of grammatical mistakes in a document from the FCO !
    Either somebody has fiddled with that text or Brtiton is working for the FCO :-)

    The British government states
    Anyhow our position on the Falklands is well known, there will be no sovereignty negotiations until the Islanders so wish.
    And went on to state how the British and Argentina can be great friends and trading partners,
    Helping each other after all that’s what friends are for .
    But alas the reply will be vicious insults and envy,
    It really shows how the educated gentlemen, tries to help the indoctrinated ruffian, and gets insulted,
    But as a civilised country we will continue to try to help these poor unfortunate people,

    Even if they are very ungrateful and selfish , and very childish, at the help we try to give,
    An interesting thought .

    Really? Marcos could unmask himself from the paper bag his parents put over his head.

    If your issue is with the use of c rather than s the I suggest you look at the OED. You will see there is nothing wrong with the form of the word I chose to use.

    Pronunciation: Brit. /rᵻˈspɒns/ , U.S. /rəˈspɑns/ , /riˈspɑns/
    Forms: ME respouns, ME respounse, ME–15 respons, ME–16 responce, ME– response;

    so-far. So when you decide to pull someone up on what you believe to be a spelling error you decide to ignore the Oxford English Dictionary and go to some random word related website. I suppose this is acceptable referencing when submitting work towards a degree in an Argentine university?

    This is clear evidence of the poor level of education in your country.

    If the OED says that a spelling is correct then it is correct. You disagree?

    Again, another Argie who is incapable of doing his own research, or one who cannot admit that he is wrong. Looks like Marcos and so_far are related. He he.

    Beef, right again. Appears to be a bit of a theme on here.

    A special person? Don't know about that but I know how to refer to the Oxford English Dictionary and clearly you don't. It is not that hard, so perhaps the one with intellectual challenges isn't me?

    Not special but simply correct. Are you not man enough to admit that the OED is correct and you are wrong? Pathetic.

    As Mr. Beef surely knows, the Oxford English Dictionary is a paying site…………………
    But her are some equally valid free access ones:

    http://dictionary.cambridge.org/spellcheck/british/?q=responce

    http://dictionary.cambridge.org/spellcheck/british/?q=responce
    (This one is run by Oxford University Press; same company that runs the OED)

    As we all can see; response is spelled with an “S” ; not with a “C”…………..

    Sorry Mr. Beef……. You are wrong.... Again.

    Mr “special” Beef, check yourself in OED on line site if your “responce” word is correct or not.

    Please.....

    Think - go to the OED yourself and write response/responce into the search section. You will see that the result is as I posted earlier (@14), which indicates there is more than one accepted way to spell the word. This is free as you only pay for enhanced access.

    I can do it again for you if you wish? It will simply indicate you have chose the wrong side of the argument Think.

    She knows that the Falklands sovereignty is not negotiable, she will keep barking at the moon for four years. If you ask the people that voted Cristina why they did it, they will tell you because she imprisoned Videla, because she gave them netbooks, because she is fighting to recover the Malvinas, because she gives them money as long as they keep making babies, because she cries everytime she remembers him(aka Néstor Kirchner).

    Thanks for the information…..Just a short comment about it:

    1) It doesn’t inform anything about Mount Pleasant Airport.

    2) It doesn’t inform anything about the importance of the 2,000 troops + 600 civilian personal for the economy of Malvinas.

    3) About the hospital……:

    A) It was the British Government that constructed that fine hospital, at a very high cost, after you Islanders burnt the old one in one of your famous drinking berserk runs. You Islanders have not and are not amortizating that “Expense” = Subsidy.

    B) The MOD “reimburses” you 1.2 million £ a year. As I understand, the FIG(leaf) has a reciprocity agreement with the NHS by which you Islanders don’t pay for treatment in the UK. But British soldiers have to pay you? = Subsidy

    C) As I understand, until recently, 2 GP’s, 1 Anesthetist and an undisclosed number of nurses where paid directly by the MOD = Subsidy.

    Oct 25th, 2011 - 06:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0
  • Monty69

    No, Think, British 'soldiers' don't pay anything.

    And your 'reciprocity' argument is complete bx. If there were 6o million islanders staying in the UK at any time, doubling the call for emergency surgical care, you might have a point, but actually, you don't. Anything that the UK government pays to FIG is to make sure the hospital has enough capacity for their contingency planning. And if that means that some of the hospital staff are less than busy some of the time, then that's up to them.So no, not a subsidy.
    If you find out that the MOD are paying for midwives and dentists, I might start listening. They don't pay for GPs as they have their own, and and 'undisclosed number of nurses'?? if it's undisclosed, where did you get that from? They have to have some of their own medical and paramedic staff for search and rescue.

    In the meantime, why don't you remind us all what precisely this has to do with you.

    Ah Think, what lovely theories you have come up with. It is funny that they are a watered down version of what you were peddling before. I accept that as a minor victory on my part. Before you said MOD funded 75% of the Hospital, but now only £1.2m, and that is for services provided to the MOD by the hospital. How can the hospital give away it precious services and expertise to an organisation for free!?

    Also, look on page 148 of the document I provided you, or what Adobe calls page 153, and you will see a payment by FIG to MOD labelled Air Terminal....

    The document I provided you is the FIG budget, with actual revenues and expenditures from the previous year, it is how FIG funds itself and its departments. If you want an economic viewpoint on the influence of the MOD in the Falklands economy, I suggest you ask someone in the FIG Policy Unit. But from my recollection of their work, MOD's contribution to local businesses isn’t that much...The Globe may live off of it, but other than that, not much. If you have actually visited the Falklands, you will see that the military only really venture into Stanley on the weekends, and their only contribution is in the pubs, where they usually cost more (damage to property) than they actually pay for, as their food and accommodation is provided by the military. And they don’t come in every weekend. But that is what I call local knowledge, which trumps your assumptions based on what you hope is reality hundreds of miles away.

    The crap about the nurses etc. being paid by the MOD, rubbish! Don’t always listen to rumours Think ;-) You try and portray yourself as smarter than that, but it is good to see you clutching at straws.

    The UK did provide a lot of funding after the war for infrastructure, this is what made us self-sufficient, after years of neglect that led to the aggressive invasion of Argentine forces. Now with Fisheries and Tourism, and in the future hopefully Oil, we are self-sufficient.

    Again like think
    You are so wrong,
    The countries you mention, were given their independence, were they not, so they are now and forever out of the equation,
    Those that are left, were offered their independence, and by their own free will have decided to remain British, that is not empire, that is freedom of choice,
    The Falklands and Belize, as an example, want independence, but their very greedy and aggressive neighbours keep on attacking or threatening them, so British forces have to remain to protect them,
    Until such time as they grow up and stop acting like spoilt children and let them live in peace,

    Does it really matter if Britain subsidises people or places, does it really matter,
    Who does Argentina subsidise, what about your illegal colony in the Antarctica, does not Argentina pay for things for them,

    @59 so_far,
    Thats it, comrade. Mess with us & you'll walk the plank. Got it?
    A matter of time, eh? You don't have that time. Probably Brazil will invade Argentina long, long before you ever can invade us again.
    @57 Marcos,
    ln your dreams señor. The Falklands belong to the Falklanders, next in line would be the British. No-one else is on the list.

    @61...

    You have listed a group of nations that all gained independence....they got what they wanted, just like the people of the Falklands have and will always have.

    Tell me...how am I here by force? I was born here, as was my father and his father, and his father, and his father and his father and his father. How many generations do you go back in Argentina?

    The arrogance of Argentines is something that always confuses me. Argentina as a country has never accomplished anything. A country with a murky past that involves dictatorships, assisting war criminals, assisting the Nazis, economic incompetence, exterminating its own people, murdering its own people, never winning a war, spreading lies across the world, celebrates terrorism, invading and imposing itself on a small island community, and trying to ensure 3000 people do not have human rights to achieve their imperialist ambitions, partnering up with currently the most dangerous states in the world, and the gullibility and naivety of a child. Yes, what a proud and mighty nation you are. You claim to be a democracy…laughable. Yes, your Plastic President trying to change the laws to allow successive stints in charge, that will change to needing an election every decade or so. Argentina will takeover Chavez’s mantle as the rogue and oppressive nation in South America.

    you said...“Is all matter of time dear kid...Malvinas Argentinas, understand that once for all, you´re there ONLY by force....international comunnity knows perfectly that.”

    I say, the international community doesnt suport you, you tag on your claim to unrelated agreements and organisation which other nations have no choice but to accept. How is this support? None of these countries have actually done anything of substance to support your claim.

    So it is only a matter of time for Argentina to colonise the Falklands? If that happens we will just become independent with the use of self-determination, as afforded to all people by the UN.

    The only part that make sense and deserve an answer....

    “So it is only a matter of time for Argentina to colonise the Falklands? If that happens we will just become independent with the use of self-determination, as afforded to all people by the UN.”

    Yes boy, you right there, you could become independient anytime you wish BUT....from Argentina the real and legal owner of Malvinas, its.up to you people make the things properly. Now in the eyes of international community you lot are only SQUATTERS and a vil tool from UK for keep this madness in an stable and pacefully region.

    None of your reply deserves a response because it is riddled with lies and factual inaccuracies.

    The real owners of the Falkland Islands are the people who were born there and the people who live there and make the Falklands what is it. Not some arrogant Argentine who lives hundreds of miles away, who has no intention ever visiting the place in question or any desire to live there. Your attitude sickens me and your arrogance is laughable.

    Argentina are the only ones threatening peace in South America, we are just trying to live our lives the best we can. Argentina is the only country trying to disrupt things. Britain has nothing to do with it. They only protect us because you disrupted the peace 29 years ago. Argentina is the only country in this region that has a history of disrupting the peace.

    You consider the real owners of the Falklands squatters, and I call you imperialists. The only important factor is that the people of the Falklands has the right to choose, provided by the UN.

    Also, you didnt explain how I am forced to live here?

    We should get rid of all the immigrants, too many Paraguayans, Peruvians and Bolivians, etc they are criminals. But most importantly we need to cleanse the country of anglos. There are too many anglos pose as Argentine. They will never be, they are traitors all of them colonials, they are all agents of the crown of England.

    I do not care for the rights of any immigrants, including the pirates on las malvinas. Their history is no valid, we have created a new history.

    It is proud loyal patriots to their nation like Think and James Peck we must look to, to show the way for all other national patriots. The people of las Malvinas can be reborn Argentine like James Peck whose father was a traitor to Argentina and a war hero of the British. He should have been hung for his crimes, if we had won he would have been disapeared but lucky his son has come right and now is a central to our propaganda war.

    Go home pieates

    @78 Artillero601,
    Pom or Pommy. Originally from Australia & means Englishman.
    Can be an insult & can be a term of affection. lt just depends on the context & tone of voice.
    Some English don't like it but a lot don't care or find it funny.
    l have been called a Pom by experts, so what Think says doesn't worry me. He is a Swedish amateur. Only teasing, he says that he is not Swedish.
    There are arguements as to its original meaning.
    1) As you said, prisoner of his/her majesty. POHM
    2)Prisoner of Mother England, POME
    3)Rhymes with Emigrant, Pomegranate(the fruit), shortened to POM.
    No doubt others.
    @77 Think,
    Your keyboard stuck too, Cher Think? You'll have to stop buying those cheap Chinese computers as will malen & malvinero1.
    Don't you like the Swedes either, Cher Think? l've only met about half a dozen of them & l liked the ones l met.

    Artillero601:

    Been to Australia a few times. It's mostly a nice nickname they have for us. The Aussies have very much the same sense of humor we do unlike the Americans to be honest. It's a very insulty-jokey relationship. Quite like in the UK.

    But yeah. It means a British person. I was told it's because of the accent the posh British people speak in. Plumb in mouth and all that.

    On the basis of the British invasion of Río de la Plata I have been able to establish that Argentina is in fact owned by Great Britain.

    I have been tabling a series of motions at the UN in order to officially establish this claim to Argentina. There is historical president for this, on the basis of an almost 200 year invasion of the Falkland Islands by a German and some British ex patriots, Argentina claims the Falkland Islands.

    I can establish as historical fact that Río de la Plata was invaded by Britain and that this claim was never renounced, there is over 200 years of continued British claim to Argentina.

    This makes all Argentines suject to British law and taxation. I am planning to get Buenos Aires renamed Port of Britain. Argentina will be called Bairdland, after the leader of British forces in the first occupation of Río de la Plata.

    It is important to state that this did not happen just once - as in the Argentine claim to the Falklands....... but twice!
