Emirates Airlines will fly on a daily basis between Dubai and Buenos Aires, with a call at Rio do Janeiro, as of next January 3, it was announced in the Argentine capital by Richard Vaughan Senior Vice-president for Commercial Operations.
Flights will be covered with Boeing 777/300s which will offer eight private suites in First Class, 42 seat-beds in Business and 304 regular seats in Economy.
All passengers will have access with no additional cost, to the ‘Ice’ entertainment system which has 1.200 channels of television and music.
The link “will become an artery for trade and tourism” between South America and the Arab world said Vaughan, during the announcement in Buenos Aires.
This isEmirates second link with South America after having opened in 2007 direct flights between Dubai and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
Vaughan said that one of the many reasons for closer links with South America is the fact that Brazil will be hosting the World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Olympics in Rio do Janeiro, and Emirates is one of the sponsors of the FIFA competition.
Emirates Sales Vice-president Thierry Antinori said that the new link will provide “an extra boost to the vibrant Brazilian economy”, since it will stimulate tourism and will confirm “Rio do Janeiro as an important business hub, particularly for the oil and gas industries”.
The daily flight is scheduled to leave Dubai and 07:05 local time and arrives at Rio do Janeiro 15:37 and to Ezeiza, Buenos Aires, 19:30 hours.
The return flight takes off from Ezeiza at 21:30 local time, calls in Rio do Janeiro at 01:20 and the following day reached Dubai, 22:53 local time.
Emirates will also be able to pick up passengers in the Rio-Buenos Aires leg.
“Our clients in South America can experiment the quality and services of the Dubai airline with no need to abandon the continent”, said Vaughan.
Regarding fares Vaughan said that Emirates is not a ‘low cost’ airline, on the contrary a top quality service carrier.
With Rio do Janeiro and Buenos Aires, Emirates expands to 117 destinations in the world.
