Never in the annuals, of history, has a great country been self harmed and gutted, by its very own gutless incompetent corrupt, selfish government MPs and the like,
Than the British self retched politicians
They should be ashamed, careless bunch of no hopers,
At this bloody rate, they will be asking our enemies
    -
To give us at least six weeks notice of any action,,
But their fxck ups will again have to be sorted out by British men and women
Willing to give their lives, for someone’s freedom,
    Whilst the politicians say [sorry]
Perhaps if those same politicians were the first to be sent to the bloody Front of any action,
Then perhaps our brave countrymen would have the ships planes troops and the right equipment to do the bloody job properly,
    Just a angry thought.

I've always believed that you should be required to serve in order to land any defence-related job.

It was defence cuts leading up to 1770 that very nearly got us into a war with Spain over the Falklands.

It was defence cuts in the early 1980's that gave Argentina the bottle to try a second invasion of the Falklands.

So, who will it be this time, that fancies their chances ??

Well, he made a good point. UK fought two campaigns very well last year (libya and afganistan). The problem with most developed countries is that their populations are decreasing. Just as many of you correctly point out that Argentina has to end with populisim, corruption, and bad economic policies in order to becamoe a country with less uncertanty, I believe that the UK must pay attention to the population problem. One solution could be the promotion of inmigration.

    uk is finished,

With triple AAA rating I don’t think so,
    What rating is Argentina?

Even with the defence cuts, Argentina would have trouble getting of the starting blocks,
Only one way to find out, [next]

Oh if only that was true,
But alas the British military makes Argentina look like a kinder garden,
You need the rowing boats, ours have out board motors,
As for Britons will be slaves==we have been their and got the badge,
Now we are free, and in the British Falklands .

    #7 Briton
As you have correctly said in the recent past, even with the cuts the UK will still be able to deal with the rowing boats of the Argie navy.

The Typhoons on the Falklands (there are no Malvinas) will be more than a match for the fatigued airframes of the Mirage 3s & 5s.

But I agree with your #1 post. I am just sad to see the UK have this spineless bunch in charge. They are almost down to the level of competence of Argentinas govt. - well, nobody could be that bad.

    8 ChrisR thanks]

We could be so much better, with competent politicians
According to information the UK exported nearly 143 billion to the EU in 2000,
Compared with 121 billion,, to the rest of the world,= that’s 26 countries, against 163 out side of the EU,
The Americans get 37 billion of exports from us [alone]
China , Canada Hong Kong- Japan India, UAE , Russia Singapore Australia, all under 5 billion,
So we can easily increase our exports to the rest of the world,
we are by fact, a maritime nation, we need to import and export, and we can once again become richer and more powerful, if we left the EUROPEAN UNION, despite what some say,, then we could give out military back the [men][ships][planes[ and pride and respect that previous governments have taken from them,

If we can’t defend our very own borders, what chance do we have of defending others?
But for the book, the astute subs and type 45, can deal with anything little Argentina can throw at it,
They seem to forget the thing called [re-armament] this will happen if we get attacked or any trouble from Argentina, or the rest of south America,
    .
