Well done Greenpeace.... you mention oil exploration and fisheries in the Falklands - however Argentina have been exploiting their resources for a number of years.

The Argentine Fisheries opened their ilex season early, while squid were still in spawn just to spite the Falklands.

Argentine Greenpeace... so much for not being part of a “GLOBAL SOCIETY”

We're still clearing the tens of thousands of landmines from the Falkland Islands left by the Argentinian invaders in 1982. Argentina cares about the environment? Sorry CFK but you are not fooling anyone.

    So opening Illex Fisheries http://en.mercopress.com/2011/12/13/argentina-s-attempt-to-advance-the-squid-season-seems-condemned-to-failure

EXPLOITATION - or just plain stupid....

    http://en.mercopress.com/2011/12/13/argentina-s-attempt-to-advance-the-squid-season-seems-condemned-to-failure

    EXPLOITATION

So is it only exploitation if the Falkland Islanders wish to take advantage of what is on offer...

Currently it is suny in the Falklands - exploitation of the sun which only shines from the a** of the Argentine Government....

    Kipling

You got the first bit right; “Ignorant, Argentina”

What do you say about opening the Illex fisheries early? Is exploitation of the fishery okay when it is really playing dirty tricks on the Falklands? The dirty tricks that your president said Argentina are being falsely accused of.

Why did your country land mine it's owns islands if that's what they are? I guess your answer or the answer from one of your co-losers will be that you had nothing to do with the junta and they were bad boys. Not like all of your morally outstanding leaders now.

    Let's organize another climbing party!

I’m more than certain that the Argentinean authorities will be much more lenient (if not supportive) than the Danish/Greenlandic ones.

And, If you should get detained by the Brits, I’m positive that Islander1, Monty96, WestisBest, Isolde and the rest of the squatter bunch will take extra-good care of you…..

You're a regular amongst your fellow co-losers on Mercopress. Perhaps you can explain the early Argentine Illex opening (in an attempt to hurt the Falklands fishery) vs. your president's comments that Argentina are not the ones playing dirty tricks and are in fact the victims.

    Kipling

    I'm in the UK already.

What's your explanation for your president's claim that she is not playing dirty tricks while at the same time the Argentine Illex fishery has been opened early in an attempt to hurt the Falklands fishery?

This is either a dirty trick or the vandalism of the Illex stock or both.

What's your explanation? Is your president a hypocrit or a liar or both?

Also, what is she going to do with LAN Airlines now in light of her comments? Is she going to make herself a bigger hypocrit or allow the flight to continue? Maybe her intelligence (not her own intellegince) is not too bad. Maybe she realised that there is an alternative ready to go and that her own Argentina would be cut off from the islands if she stopped the fight.

You need to get a new hobby. This one won't work out for you.

Can anyone from the pro-Argentina side of these discussions reconcile your president's actions in connection with her comments suggesting she will not play dirty tricks and that Argentina is actually the victim in all of this? At the same time she said this the Argentine Illex fishery is deliberately being wiped out in an attempt to hurt the Falklands fishing industry.

Also, is your president still going to call LAN Airlines to stop its weekly flight to the Falklands? Is she such a hypocrit to do that?

No dirty tricks going on huh? I guess it's all relative and she means no dirty tricks by Argentine standards.

  • The Falklands are British

So it doesn't sound like any of you thin-skinned easily-insulted pro-Argentine losers can explain why your president is such a hypocrit. Stop destroying the fishery stocks! In an effort to ruin it for the Falklands, it is also being ruined for Argentina. Not so much a dirty trick as a desperate trick.

This “we are the victims here” stance will only last until she realises it didn't work and then the threats will start up again.

It seems that a lot of the Argentines aren't happy with Mercopress. Do you mean they are not reporting a balanced view or do you mean that for a South American organisation they are not enough on your side? Maybe they are one of the 1000's of British companies flocking to South America to set up business.

I am usually on the Argentinian Government's side on my comments in here.

This time I have to say that it is TRUE that CFK hasn't done much to protect natural resources like extraction of minerals by foreign huge companies. This is ALSO the GRABBING OF NATURAL RESOURCES, and it is neo-colonialism, just like the presence and activities of british people at the Malvinas (well, that is a bit old-fashioned, but still it has some new features like self-determination mascarade that was created not so long ago so we could call it a “not-so-traditional” colonialism).

However, CFK's speech was so SMART and GREAT when she named enviromental ONGs (because she was not reffering to GreeenPeace, she reffered to all of them, argentinian ones and foreign).

There is SOMETHING MISSING in this article: she said “I haven't heard any ONG criticize the United kingdom for what they are doing at the Malvinas”. And this is is so TRUE... It demonstrates that even if Greenpeace or any other can be against petrol companies operating at the Malvinas, they didn't made their position so CLEAR, I also haven't heard about it.

Has anybody seen any campaign about it?? I think it was just written in a paper that they didn't publish anywhere...

So where is the ‘ill-advised’ thing in this speech?

It is great because it makes ONGs compromise politically. It shows their ideologies, it makes them responsible in a way they do not like to be responsible and they may not like it, but it is the way it should be.

I am a Malvinist, but for those who claim “long live the falklands” also. Shouldn't we know what important ONGs think about activities at the Malvinas?? Whether they support Argentinian or British position or none...

PD: very soon PETROL will have been just a two centuries parenthesis at Human History, how are we going to live then? Petrol is already very expensive. Final Count has started...

    “and it is neo-colonialism”

    Learn what terms mean.

”Neocolonialism is the practice of using capitalism, globalization, and cultural forces to control a country (usually former European colonies in Africa or Asia) in lieu of direct military or political control. “

The UK uses direct military and political control, With the peoples wishes.

”self-determination mascarade that was created not so long ago so we could call it a “not-so-traditional” colonialism”

Decolonisation is only around today because of Self Determination. This seems to be something most Argentinians seem to fail to understand.

The whole reason decolonisation was implemented was because it is no longer seen as right for a government to control a population that does not wish it to do so.

No matter how you feel about it, Argentina is a foreign government who wants to control the islands and the population with it, the population does not wish to have an Argentinian government.

You might not agree that the islanders should be there. But Argentina's goals are colonial in nature. This is a fact.
