The costly project is a rare triumph for national science and has excited scientists around the world with its potential for discoveries of new forms of life and revelations about millions of years of the Earth's history.
They should have saved their money. Only the stupid ones were excited. Nearly all the major league players at this around the world had decided NOT to breach the water due to the possible contamination that would occur.
But hey, what else can Putin do to impress his people? Everything else he has tried does not seem to have had the results he thought it would.
The people themselves shouting that the elections were rigged AND that's supposed to be news in Russia?
Probably, the majority of it, but do not forget that modern combustion processses 'release' water in the form of vapor all the time.

Exactly, but when has 'bright thing' ever been attributed to the old KGB dynosaur who is Putin? And yes, the resistant bacteria could prove ideal for his next biological warfare programme.
