Nothing against catholics, but religion has no place in politics and the fact this guy and the agentine church are in support of argentinas claim regardless of the wishes of the islanders, is exactly why religion need to keep its nose out of politics. Seriously some of these priest still think they can act like they did back in the times of the papal bull, and dictate to people what is good for them and what is not. In fact, i very much doubt the pope supports this priests statements in support of the argentine claim. Priest should stand up for people, regardless of nationality, not toe the line of state policies. After all, all people are gods people, including the islanders so why should the islanders wishes not be respected, whilst the argentinian peoples wishes are respected? Also god gave know land to a few, he gave it to all.

And the ten commandmants apply to nations just as it does to people too, especially these 2 - “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.” and “ thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, *nor any thing that is thy neighbour's*” in other words, thy shall not lie about your neighbours, nor should you try to claim your neighbours land and possessions. Perhaps this priest needs remind of that along with the rest of the argentines that support argentinas claim.

Bit behind the times as usual Ogaga. Since when has Queen Elizabeth ever interceded in politics? I bet you cannot name ONE incident.

Anyway there is no God or Allah or any other 'supreme being' as far as I am concerned.

People like this guy, well intentioned, he may be, are not elected and should STFU when it comes to the Falklands (there are no Malvinas).

    Peace be upon you. :o)

    Question:

How can a church support one nations claim over the sovereignty of another?

What kind of church is the Catholic Church in Argentina? When it acts like an arm of the state.

Maybe they can declare holly war!

Argentine not just a throwback to fascism but a throwback to secularism (the church is the state) and even the Crusades!

O Gara - the fake Irish immigrant to Argentina -

Members of the Royal family can marry Catholics. That law has been changed.

The Queen is a nominal head of the Church of England. Neither the church or the Queen get involved in politics.

You country is an extremely backwards country if your state church is taking an active stance on claiming the sovereignty of another country. It is worse than fascism even, it's a throwback to 1296.

O'gara, thats rich coming from someone that claims to be from a catholic nation, you do remember who catholic church banned contraception (increasing STD, AIDS and unwanted Babies) How the catholic church banned same sex marriages and were homophobic, and where alot of its priests are child abusers. Who do not allow non catholics to marry catholics in the catholic churches without one being a catholic and having express permission to marry a non catholic from their bishop - which is still the case. (And you refer to the royalty not being allowed to marry catholics - when they can), Plus if the non-catholic person is not a christian then the marriage is nuetral and not sacremental and the catholic Church, therefore, discourages them and requires a Catholic who wishes to marry an unbaptized person to receive a special dispensation from his or her bishop.

So o'gara talk about calling the kettle black, you should learn more about your own church and faith before making uninformed comments about the church of england and the royal family. You Hypocrite.

Don't be too hard on Ga Ga. We all know how the Roman Catholic Church abused, and continues to abuse, children, particularly male children. Ga Ga has probably been a bend over c*ck-sucker for years. Maybe CFK is a closet transsexual who “initiates” her supporters.

But I do like the idea of the Evangelic Baptists writing to a Jew to say that they are praying for Britain to be convinced or argie sovereignty over the Falklands. No chance, guys. The Second Coming will occur first.

Especially with all the secret underground British bases in the South Atlantic. Obviously there are the underground bases in the Falklands with sea access for submarines and the missile and warhead caverns storage alongside them. Wonder if argieland knows about the British bases set up in imitation of Corbeta Uruguay illegally set up by argies on Thule Island? Are they on the coast of argieland? How many are there? Where are they? Argieland doesn't even have complete radar coverage for civilian air travel. Not much chance of them noticing a submerged submarine. Britain itself has many underground facilities built without the knowledge of local populations. A little comparison. The UK has a population density of 662 per square mile. Argieland has a density of 38 per square mile. How easy!

    Early efforts—Bishop Hudal

Bishop Alois Hudal was rector of the Pontificio Istituto Teutonico Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome, a seminary for Austrian and German priests, and “Spiritual Director of the German People resident in Italy”.[9] After the end of the war in Italy, Hudal became active in ministering to German-speaking prisoners of war and internees then held in camps throughout Italy. In December 1944 the Vatican Secretariat of State received permission to appoint a representative to “visit the German-speaking civil internees in Italy”, a job assigned to Hudal.

Hudal used this position to aid the escape of wanted Nazi war criminals, including Franz Stangl, commanding officer of Treblinka, Gustav Wagner, commanding officer of Sobibor, Alois Brunner, responsible for the Drancy internment camp near Paris and in charge of deportations in Slovakia to German concentration camps, and Adolf Eichmann[10]— a fact about which he was later unashamedly open. Some of these wanted men were being held in internment camps: generally without identity papers, they would be enrolled in camp registers under false names. Other Nazis were in hiding in Italy, and sought Hudal out as his role in assisting escapes became known on the Nazi grapevine.[11]:289

In his memoirs Hudal said of his actions “I thank God that He [allowed me] to visit and comfort many victims in their prisons and concentration camps and to help them escape with false identity papers.” [12] He explained that in his eyes:

“The Allies' War against Germany was not a crusade, but the rivalry of economic complexes for whose victory they had been fighting. This so-called business ... used catchwords like democracy, race, religious liberty and Christianity as a bait for the masses. All these experiences were the reason why I felt duty bound after 1945 to devote my whole charitable work mainly to former National Socialists and Fascists, especially to so-called 'war criminals'.”

According to Mark Aarons and John Loftu

Can Argentines not see that this is a problem because you school your children in this nationalist nonsense. It bears no relationship to facts or history.

For example - your average 15 year old Argentine could regurgitate many of the Argentine “facts” about the Falkland Islands that “prove” they are a province of Argentina.

Your average 15 year old Brit has probably never heard of the Falklands and certainly couldn't point to them on a map.

This doesn't add any validity to your claim - it just highlights how little interest there is in your claim beyond your borders.

To all people criticizing the Catholic Church, two news for you. In Latin America, the Church always was a top player. Since colony. After independence it lost a lot of weight, but to them to comment and make an opinion in politics is very normal.

And I'm in the belief the Church is with the people. I mean 99.9% of the priests are Argentines. They do the mass in Spanish. They live a rather normal life as Argentines. I would be strange if they didn't support our claim.

    @11

No, we give way a lot of importance to our history. All of it. Not only the Malvinas. We take 1 whole year just to learn 1800-1900. And another for 1900-2000. And that's only the two last years in Highschool where we properly have a subject called Historia Argentina. World history is learnt when we are younger.

You are demonstrating your divorce from reality. To call Britain a secular state is like calling Mars, the Sun. If you really are this stupid I pity you.

On the other hand Argentina is very defiantly a secular country. Any nation which has the majority church engage in supporting territorial expansion against the wishes of the people who live there and in flagrant violation of international law is a secular country.

I just wonder if Argentina can be described as a country, as it has no real national identity, it is made up of colonists principally from Spain, Italy, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Germany. Most of them only arriving in the last century and displacing and murdering the native inhabitants.

no one want to force british illegal aliens into anything and just like the illegal aliens in USA they can get visas to stay in Argentina or go back to UK as UK clearly support the illegal aliens to keep being british, fakland island company trades in UK and all they need to do is move their head office to UK the contry they belong to, otherways we can build a nuclear defence program in Argentina to rid our nation of a 200 year old illegal british occupation.. if 3000 illegal aliens want nothing to do with Argentina, we have at least 30.000.000 Argentine's who want nothing to do with this anarchist and pirates, go home and quit squatting in Islas Malvinas Argentina.

Should really mind hid own businesses,
Anyone who trys to drag religion into this, is without doubt advocating violence’s

To even suggest that god is on the side of Argentina is a disgrace, but then again we have given up on the dirty below the belt tactics from argentine people in authority,

For the fact that he does not exist, in part,, as no one can prove other wise, but clever people know full well how eagerly simple people can be influenced over religious terms such as these,
The Falklands does not belong to Argentina, and you will not get them,

Breaking the silence: the Catholic Church in Argentina and the 'dirty war'
Among the horrors of Argentina's military rule that “disappeared” up to 30,000 citizens from 1976-83, the complicity of senior figures in the Catholic hierarchy is becoming known thanks to the investigations of writer Horacio Verbitsky. openDemocracy publishes an exclusive extract from his new book, The Silence.

Here is a film all the nationalist children of Argentina should watch. It should be compulsory education in Argentine schools to learn about their country recent history, instead of teaching lies about the Falkland Islands (the imaginary Malvinas - which Argentina has NEVER had sovereignty over).

That something like this was allowed to happen is a crime against humanity, 50,000-100,000 raped, tortured, mutilated, murdered and disappeared (Borges). Unborn babies ripped out of their mothers wombs, young children taken from their parents, who were murdered by the heroic Argentine military.

Anyone of you born in the 70's? I hope your lucky enough to know who your real parents are...

The Official Story / La historia official (1985)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7LF5II0wIY

It's a film everyone should watch. Feel shame because the specter of fascism still grips Argentina and as Martino Moreno said “If publishing the truth is forbidden, then lies, ignorance and poverty will follow”.

Argentina's history is still being written by Moreno's assassins.
