Uruguay and US will attend Americas’ summit: Cuba and Ecuador absent
Uruguay’s minister of Foreign Affairs Luis Almagro described on Friday as ‘inadmissible” the exclusion of Cuba from the VI Summit of the Americas scheduled for next April 14/15 in Cartagena, Colombia. Read full article

@1 I think the FIG would be very happy to attend. Sadly I think what Almagro means is only countries that are corrupt and speak Spanish... kind of makes you wonder why Guyana, USA and Canada are even bothering to attend.

Far better to let them attend but keep them strictly on the agenda.
The way things are at the moment Cuba can play the injured party card.
And I agree, if it is the Americas, where is the invite for the Falklands (there are no Malvinas)?

Perhaps not. On the other hand, it has been said that the Falklands are in the South Atlantic and not in South America.

If the summit is only for democratic countries, why have the likes of Argentina and Nicaragua been invited? I'm not sure banana republics qualify as democracies. I expected that moron Correa to act like a spoiled child. Ecuador is evidently a Chavez whore state, there to do his bidding. They won't be missed.

The OAS wrote some pretty funny resolutions about the UK during the Falklands war for example the resolution of May 29, 1982. This one was quite fun, and basically suggested that Argentina was fine to militarily invade someone else's property, against the UN charter.
