Britain waited only a few minutes for Argentina to finish detailing a barrage of legal and administrative threats against anybody and everybody involved in the Falklands oil industry, and firmly stated its full support to the Islanders development of their hydrocarbons resources. Read full article

Mar 15th, 2012 - 10:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Timmidman back at what he does worst: diplomacy, Argentina style.
Now Argentina is threatening EVERYBODY AND ALL CORPORATIONS, BANKS, ETC who get involved with the Falklands (there are no Malvinas) oil exploration.
Of course, when they try that (and they will be stupid enough to try it) they will soon find out what big money will do: abandon Argentina.
Ha, Ha, another Timmidman own goal. I chuckle everytime I see his stupid face.

Argentina doesn't have the U$ to pay the attorney fees so it is another empty threat. I am not an attorney but they would have to prove they have legal jurisdiction, the owner of the property and the damage amount. I would think that would be hard to do anywhere but in RG (LALA) land
Mar 15th, 2012 - 10:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@5 I still cannot think of a company or bank that operates in Marmierda that would be worthy of the Marmierdans chasing on this issue.

more and more this is looking like an internal political game being played by Argentina rather than any serious threat externally.
I really dont see very much support coming for their stance from anyone stable and of any substance (Venezuela and Cuba doesnt count - i said stable). I think that the whole world is now a bit embarrassed by their words. Its a bit cringeworthy.
Pygmy politics at work from the professionals in that arena - Argentina, the home of the mentally unstable government.

”Dear Press,
The peoples of Marmierda (Argentina) don't seem to understand history, they don't admit that they don't listen to the ICJ, they don't listen to the UN Security council, and they are basically a new revision of 1930s Nazism, including the aggressive expansionism.
We tried to negotiate with them, but they either turned the negotiations into a military conflict, which they lost, or they just walked out of negotiations like a child. They unilaterally reneged on everything they've signed up to, with a constant threat of ending the remaining agreements.
They say they're peaceful, but there is no definition of peace that describes their behaviour, from economic blockades, prevention of shipping and attempts to disrupt the breeding cycles of squid.

In 1982 we have a much more macho government than today, we had a man in charge and no ordinary man, he was a General, from Italy, same country my grandparents came from, fleeing from British and American Imperialists after WW2 (it would take several generations and Berlusconi to put right what they did to Italy).
General Galtieri did not take no for an answer, he sent a great military force with special forces under command of our counter terrorist officers like Captain Alfredo Astiz, who is now in prison and should be freed!
These were the men who removed 50,000 left wing terrorists from our streets and delivered them into the Atlantic. We are proud that they had the guts to do what was necessary.
But today I listen to the BBC and it seems there are more left wing in our nation. I am in The Bahamas at the moment working in hotel so out of touch with my country. It seems all the strong people leave and only weak left remain.
But still there are veterans prepared to attack the police for medals for Malvinas War as they protected Patagonia from a British invasion, they deserve these medals, Police should not keep them from them.
Pirates and Anglos i hate all of you. Even here in the Bahama, have to put up with your Royal family, Prince Harry and the descendants of your Caribbean pirates some of which now Mullatos but others prefer stay white. I myself do not like. Or the children of British colonial pirates!

@72 Don't be daft, Isolde. Of course we can fight the whole world. And win! It's what we do. Remember that, in the 1800s, no-one thought Britain could defeat Napoleon. But we did! In 1939-45, no-one thought we could defeat Hitler and Mussolini. But we did! In 1982, the U.S. Navy said that re-taking the Falkland Islands was impossible. But we did it! Major difference between the troops of other countries and our troops (and I include the RAF, the RN and the Royal Marines in that phrase), our troops are BRITISH! Think through your history. Take the American Revolutionary War. Did the Americans win? Britain was fighting TWO wars on both sides of the Atlantic. The Americans got a draw, because stabilising Europe was seen as more important. Did the Russians win the Crimean War? They did not. Another stalemate. Did China win in the Boxer Rebellion? Not unless you count having to pay £67 million in indemnities as winning! Try to remember that the ordinary British squaddie is amongst the best in the world. British special and elite forces are THE best!

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner the current disaster president of Argentina
Mar 19th, 2012 - 11:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0and the other Argentina crooks are her vice-president, Amado Boudou, he is actually an owner of the company that prints money for the government in Argentina, a major conflict of interest, but he denies it, he owns the company in the names of other friends and associates. He is being investigated and surely will end up in jail where he belongs. Cristinas 2 VERY UGLY children, Maximo and Florencia Kirchner, are also very corrupt. Maximo owns all kinds of hotels and properties adn Florencia is a film student in New York and lives in a luxury Park Avenue apartment and is known for major cocaine use. Some of us who know her in New York remember how she always used to tell us how her parents have a bank account drawn on the Nation of Argentina and for her family money is no object. These 2 corrupt children of Cristina Kirchner are self proclaimed “militants”, they belong to 2 internal terrorist groups which Cristina Kirchner finances, “La Cámpora” and “Quebracho”. “La Cámpora” goes around to the poor shantytowns around the cities in Argentina and gives the poor people a bag of groceries, a sausage sandwich called “choripan” and $20 pesos to buy their votes. These people have no choice but to accept this as they are extremely poor and have no other hope. “Quebracho” is a terrorist group which Cristina Kirchner pays to protect her, they disguise their faces and go around shaking down businesses to get money and give back to the president. They are also responsible for drug dealing, robberies and murders.

Mar 19th, 2012 - 08:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0None of those were invasions by any stretch of the imagination.
They were no more than operations very small scale at that.
Even the British did not win every engagement they ever fought.
@80 Pugol-H,
Mar 19th, 2012 - 10:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0They've got to have some victories to make them feel good!
You win some, you lose some.
Just as long as you win the last one.
Like we did in 1982.
AND if there's to be another one or more against Argentina, well, we'll win those too.♥

Timidman is at it again, see the BA Herald which has this:
Mar 22nd, 2012 - 07:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina has asked British and US market regulators to probe whether oil companies that have explored off the disputed Malvinas Islands have told investors about the risks of their illicit drilling, the Foreign Ministry said.
Thus, the government has triggered a series of measures against oil companies conducting drillings in Malvinas Islands as announced a week ago by Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman.
In a communiqué, the Foreign Ministry revealed that last Monday both the New York Stock Exchange Executive Director, and the head of the London Stock Exchange were warned about the “illegal” activities being carried out by five oil companies.
The sovereignty dispute between Britain and Argentina over the South Atlantic archipelago has reignited in recent months as the 30-year anniversary of the Malvinas war nears and as findings by British exploration firms raise hopes of a potential tax windfall and boon to the islands' economy.
Argentina's foreign ministry said it sent letters to the London and New York stock exchanges this week, asking that the five companies that have searched for oil off the Malvinas be forced to advise investors that Argentina deems their activities illegal.
The letters, which were signed by Timerman and point out that “companies Argos Resources Limited, Borders & Southern Petroleum PLC, Desire Petroleum PLC, Falkland Oil and Gas Limited, and Rockhopper Exploration PLC, are illegitimately carrying out hydrocarbons exploration on the Argentine continental shelf, exposing themselves to administrative, civil and criminal sanctions.
We have solicited ... that they be required to make these illicit activities known and quantify the risks involved. In this way, the stock exchange will be able to evaluate if the firms can continue to list their shares or whether they must provide more information to the market.”
The companies trade in London but Argentina also advised New York regulators
