Prime Minister David Cameron's approval rating hit its lowest level since he took office, a poll showed, after his Conservative party came under fire for an unpopular budget, cosy ties to rich donors and a botched handling of a looming fuel strike. Read full article

Apr 02nd, 2012 - 09:13 am - Link - Report abuse 0I really, really hope not. about the war, well, you pays your money and you takes your choice, but David Cameron and his co-horts is soemthing that this country could DEFINATELY do without.
Where is Guy Faulkes when you need him?

Apr 02nd, 2012 - 09:29 am - Link - Report abuse 0There was a certain amount of intended irony in the comment - but only a certain amount. Reverting to her tawdry neo-fascist nationalism certainly got Christina K re-elected, but I credit my British cousins with a little more intelligence than to fall for that old chestnut again .. and if there is another war, it certainly wont be one that is started by the British (although I wouldn't risk my own money on betting against the Argentinians being dimwitted enough to try something).

Apr 02nd, 2012 - 10:51 am - Link - Report abuse 0Always bet on stupid.
It has to be said that the VAT on hot pasties is an inspiration as far as PR disasters is concerned though. Given that you when you cook the pasty and take it out of the oven it's hot (and therefore taxable) but if you then allow it to cool then it's not hot (and therefore not taxable), unless you heat it back up again (at which point it becomes taxable again).
If it weren't for the fact it was a government doing it (beware the stupidity of people in large groups) I'd suspect that they'd pre-set some temperature (at a guess, tepid) at which hot becomes cold and cold becomes hot (depending if you're heating or cooling the pastie in question). However, seeing as what is actually in the budget is landed on the tax people with only marginally more notice than the rest of us I'm expecting chaos and confusion in the hot/cold/lukewarm pastie market.
It's just as well that it's only over a tasty snack rather than something important, although I think it might rival the VAT complications of Jaffa Cakes by the time that it is finished...

Apr 02nd, 2012 - 12:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I hate to disappoint you, but the trigger temperature has been enshrined in law since 2004 and is defined as being when the food is above/below the ambient air temperature. In other words, crank the heating up and sell your pasties in a sauna :)

Apr 02nd, 2012 - 05:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The argentine leader has nothing to do with Cameron incompetency to deal with UK trembling economic times.
But, if the UK and you feels offended by the argentine leader actions then the UK has the option to break relations. What the UK is waiting for?
Cameron has demostrated to be unfit to manage with his responsabilities

Apr 02nd, 2012 - 06:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I wish the whole of Europe would break off diplomatic relations with the backward fascist hole they call Argentina. If they did, then that would make me a very proud Norwegian.

Europeans like to visit the best latin country in sudamerica with the best looking latin america women. The sudamerican leader is one of the best, well educated, beautiful brunette argentine citizen. Argentina has the best empanadas, prociutto, salami and peperoni, wine, ravioli, canneloni, spagetti and pizza. What you have to offer beside your madness?
@12 SussieUS
Apr 03rd, 2012 - 12:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Yes you are quite right, Europeans do love to visit the best South American country .. Brazil. Most Europeans however have infinitely more sense than to visit a rank little friendless fascist hole like Argentina.
@SussieUS
Apr 03rd, 2012 - 07:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0you are talking about a country that existed 70 years ago,nowadays it doesnt exist any more,Europeans prefer Brazil,Chile and Uruguay were people are friendly without inferiority complex as in Arg.
The food in Argentina is very expensive and of bad quality,you cant walk alone in the streets of BA after sunset ,the president is a histerical lady who is advised by people who dont understand their bussiness,ahe says she has a lawyer degree but up till now nobody saw the diploma,
regarding the women,they are not different form other South American women,nothing special. and regarding the wine I prefer the Chilean wine.

70 years ago or in 1942 Argentina President was D.Peron. Although I was not born in that year the british people critized him and his wife because of a poor leadership. The Britons made a movie about E.Peron degrading her as a human being. It seems to me that the britons don't like my country yesterday, today and tomorrow. So, you have that choice to keep away from Argentina and its people. Get lost!
Me be an inferior argentine because I was born in Argentina? I can go any where and get anything I want. In Asia, in the Middle East and Europe with my argentine passport I can enter any country I wish including Cuba, Rusia , China and Korea.
The food in Argentina very bad and expensive? Have you read about the food stamps US President Obama having 47 millons US citizens receiving food stamps because of the high food prices? The US 15 trillon debt might send the US back to another 1924 Great Depression. Smart? No. For the last 12 years the US citizens are suffering the consequences of invading Iraq for nothing and the UK supported it.
@15 briton(#)
Better remaining in the US? Hey, for how long?
The US is in worst financial crisis than the UK or Argentina. Don't you read the news about the 15 trillon dollars deficit? The US is borrowing monies from countries such as Bangladesh to keep afloat! Concerned citizens like D.Trump says China is eating our lunch. High unemployment, high cost of healthcare, high gasoline prices, astronomically food prices increasing every day, 26 millons US citizens living below poverty levels.
Fish and chips? I thought you might order lobster and shrimps!
we dont get domestic USA new in the UK unless it is of interest.
