Someone should tell the IMF it will not work, you will still not get your money back. Nice try though.

Seems to be that MercoPress is not going to report the bad news about the British Pirate Oil Adventure in Malvinas…....... How very strange!!!

    Anyhow:

Rockhopper’s CPR (Competent Persons Report) from yesterday says:
    ”225 MMbbls”

Think said on the 01/03/12 :
    ”My uneducated guess:
    CPR: ≤ 235 mmbbl”
    http://en.mercopress.com/2012/03/01/argentina-escalates-trade-brawl-with-uk-suggests-eu-unasur-analyze-malvinas-dispute (15) Think

Not a bad “Guess” from an old brainwashed Argie geezer from the Andes …. Huhhhhh?

As I read the news today; Rockhopper’s “Oil Discovery” is NOT commercial.

The market seems to agree with me….:
Rockhopper down -7.80% on negative CPR news today.

Seems to be that the future of the British Pirate Oil Adventure in Malvinas very much depends from the forthcoming results of the current Borders & Southern drilling….

    My next uneducated guess?....:
    1) The last 3 days of BOR share price craze have been a typical ”pump & dump” operation.
    2) The BOR well is a Duster…………………

    PS:
Some simple math’s about Rockhopper’s Oil Commerciality using the Company’s own optimistic TENTATIVE data AND the friendly British Investment Press analysis:

    1) Rockhopper unveiled a new CPR (Competent Persons Report) that values its Malvinas oil discoveries at US$ 4.1 billion.

    2) The CPR estimates that it would require life-of-field development costs of around US$4.8 billion.

    http://en.mercopress.com/2012/03/01/argentina-escalates-trade-brawl-with-uk-suggests-eu-unasur-analyze-malvinas-dispute

Or, in plain English (for the Turnips)…..:

    1) Value of Malvinas oil discoveries…...: US$ 4.1 billion.
    2) Life-of-field Development Costs….…..: US$ 4.8 billion.
    3) Result…………………………...........….….: US$ -0,7 billion.

    Quite Un-Commercial …………....……. Don’t you “Think”?
As they say: IMHO..... DYOR.... Etc... etc.. etc.

@6. The Argentinean government is not refusing to pay anyone. You will find many brainwashed, simple minded posters here RC who are quick to shoot at anything Argentina does just because.

The purchase of YPF hasn't been approved by Congress yet, so right now Argentina has issued a decree which lasts for 30 days to takeover the administration of YPF. They can't pay anyone because - although unlikely - the congress might not approve this purchase so it would be pointless. Besides, a commission has been established to audit and determine the value of YPF should this deal go through.

Bottom line is that Spain is starving, with 25% unemployment and they were basically looting all of YPF's monetary reserves and profits in detriment of Argentina's growing energy bill.

That is why they are pissed off, that is why they scream and shout.

@7 From Goldman Sachs whose swift and negative assessment was probably, partly at least, responsible for the share price fall “Total gross contingent resources are at 386mn bls – still more than enough to be comfortably commercial but again, lower than our expectations”.

Anyway, the tide, so to speak, is flowing the Anglo way at the moment so I'm very happy to let the (other paid) analysts go to work on this over the weekend and see what Monday has to offer and I look forward to the next initiative designed to create abnormality.

Truth is your country is very close to economic collapse...nobody will invest in RG land.
I wonder what the real true RG citizens think on the matter, would be nice to hear views from them and not the paid Trolls on this site.
Trolls - turn to page 5 of script for response.
I am really enjoying seeing RG land shoot itself in the foot and make yet more enemies. Good luck trying to borrow money to prop your economy up

There is no doubt that Argentina can nationalize whatever company it wants to.

What it cannot do is to stop the rammifications of that theft. And it is theft because we all know that Repsol will not get the money for the business that they should do. Poisoning the press as the Mad Bitch did in order to collapse the share price was so obvious as is the threat by the Old Git and the Homo Commie Kid (now 'in charge of YPF- what a fcuking laugh) to extort even more money from the so called 'environmental damage' they have caused.

It is obvious that this pair of twats have never seen the terrible pollution of the waterways around BA, OR they are LYING BASTARDS. Mmmm, I wonder what the answer is.

Complete economic collapse of the country is the only thing to come out of this fiasco.

I imagine the Mad Bitch has doubled the personal security deatail around her just lately - but there are always ways to cook an Old Turkey.

To be fair reality check, many here do not tell you the whole truth. Shock, shock, the anti-argy side uses propaganda too.

Argentina has not settled with about 8% of the bond holders from the 2001 default. That's because that group of bondholders refused to participate in two swaps.

The reason people here blast Argentina is because those two swaps were extremely favorable to Argentina and the country refused to negotiate with the bondholders. It simply made an offer take-it-or-leave-it style.

So to this day Argentina is technically not out of default since it has not settled with that small group. Argentina has not payed the Paris Club yet either. It could, but because of the Argentina-EU/USA/UK/Latin American tensions, it won't happen at least in the near term.

Horror and utter dismay is what the ordinary Argentines think about this whole ghastly mess. Mrs. Kirchner is taking this wonderful country into a miasma of lies and corruption that has never been seen before even in the times of J. D. Perón and Menem.

To recuperate the reputation of Argentina will probably take 30 to 40 years of doing the right thing, but I don't beleive that we have a single politician with the stature to make this happen.

Perhaps our only hope is that China buys us from the K regime.

I figure china, india or pakistan will take up where spain left, but brazil will step up to the dish, someone here said something about 40 years to recover trust and even Uruguay will step up to the dish. People give Argentina very little credit and we always seem to surprise everyone. IMF already lost their grip and it's a little to late for a honeymoon.

@14. Not sure who those investors are. Probably shareholders of YPF who still keep their shares (only Repsol was affected, not other private investors); or maybe shareholders of Repsol, which in such case have been indirectly affected.

Huge Oil Find, well done Borders and Southern.

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/4271600/British-oil-strike-off-the-Falkland-Islands.html

CFK's attack on YPF is because she knows full well she has no claim to the Falklands and so is trying to divert attention away from the islands - this YPF story will be used to take away from Falklands news.

Billions of barrels of oil will be discovered in the South Falklands this year by Borders and Southern (BOR.L) and Falklands Oil and Gas (FOGL.L) both of which are listed on the London FTSE market.

CFK, rather than moaning about it, should be buying shares in BOR and FOGL and getting exposure to oil success that way. Argentina can buy both companies if they wish and have access to all the oil.

“Argentina can buy both companies if they wish and have access to all the oil.”

With what? Promissory notes, freshly printed useless ARG Pesos?

They have no USD to spare and the Mad Bitch is about to rob the Central Bank of whatever is left in the vaults.

And they would have to pay for the oil at the going rate in any event.

The ONLY way this bunch of crooks can get hold of the oil is to invade the Falklands (there are no Malvinas) AND that is not going to happen.

Even the Mad Bitch knows that is impossible.
