The crimes of a few should not tarnish the reputation of the many serious, responsible US Marine embassy guards on duty all over the world. In countries like Perû when the Shining Path terrorists were regularly and actively attacking US Embassy and its Marine guards, the guards were the ones out front who had to react quickly - and they performed so very well under very threatening circumstances.

@1 I believe, through your caveman English, that you're trying to make a disparaging remark about American Servicemen? How about those Uruguayan “soldiers” raping a Haitian boy. At least American servicemen like women and not young boys. Isn't it amazing that prostitution is such a huge business in Latin America? I wonder what percentage of the GDP prostitution makes up? I guess if you want a hooker, go to Latin America.

    @ zulu99

Your answer is from a child, I go to Bronx and buy some crack and when I’m arrested I declare.
Sorry mates, is not my fault that crack business in US is so huge.

You have to face the fact that American Servicemen had education and conduct problems.

May be they come from the bottom of US society. Because I agree with TipsyThink that this is not a common behaviour on educated middle class people. May be I’m wrong and in US the middle class is not well educated like in the rest of the world.

    Any thought?

What is the big story here? These men were marines, not angels. Are we sguggesting that servicemen, from other nations behave differently. If so, your experience is different from mine. These men abused the hospitality of a host nation and committed a crime, assault, I am not sure of Brazils laws in regard to prostitution. Quite rightly, they were charged in accordance with their military justice system and punished, deservedly so.
