Uruguay and Argentina agreed to exchange tax data in a deal that gives Argentine inspectors the power to dig up information on savers with bank accounts in the neighbouring country, officials said on Tuesday. Read full article
Yeah great, I suppose most of Britain's other non-self-governing territories are tax havens already so why shouldn't the Falklands join the noble ranks of the Cayman Islands, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and so on? Of course it would only strengthen the Argentine case as far as most of the world would be concerned...

Bit of a mistake here by Uruguay.
Not really, evasion investigation by Uruguay only applies where Tax agents will only be able to share information in specific cases where there is evidence of evasion.
Do you really think that super wealthy Argentinians are going to be caught out by this? They have been evading the clutches of their thieving government officials for years (think of the Mad Bitch, FatBoy and SlimGirl).
And it means that Uruguayos will only pay one tax. If any country is going to loose out it will be Argentina.
best part was last sentence: This however has fuelled more foreign-exchange transactions on Argentina's black market.
Another typical failure of PlasticPopulast's policies.
Tax evasion is not a sport where you get a gold medal for winning. It is stealing and criminal behaviour. If your government is corrupt and misusing public funds, it is better to get rid of them and look for honest people. Tax havens are created by the rich, used by the rich and defended by the rich. While all on a common salary has to comply with IRS and facing fines if not making correct declarations.
And the rest of the world is suffering from the instability caused by the financial gambling of the caretakers of illegitimate fortunes!
