The controversial Argentine government Olympic spot allegedly in support of the delegation that will competing in the coming London games had everybody on the black: public opinion, the athlete who ignored who really paid for his acting, obviously the Falklands where it was filmed and even the Argentine Olympic Committee. “The Sun” says (and the Turnips parrot):
ARGENTINA sparked outrage last night after running a TV advert showing an Argie Olympian doing step-ups on a British War Memorial to our fallen heroes in the Falklands.

    I say:
The Monument in question is NOT a “British War Memorial to any fallen heroes in the Falklands”

The monument in question is a WWI *VICTORY* monument, as clearly chiseled on its granite:

    “VICTORY”
    It’s written on top……..and then it continues……:

“IN COMMEMORATION OF THE BATTLE OF THE FALKLAND ISLANDS FOUGHT ON THE 8th DAY OF DECEMBER 1914”……

When a British Victory over their German Cousins……….:

“SAVED THIS COLONY FROM CAPTURE BY THE ENEMY”

No mention of no “FALLEN HEROES”................., nowhere.

point is this has harmed relations between The Falkland island government and Argentina government and by extension the British government it self.

The Falkland island Government which already skeptical of Argentina motives are now further offended by this Cheap Shot

if Argentina seek union with the Falkland island why do they continue to drive relations apart? The British government has stated they will Defend the Falkland Islanders right to self determent there own future. That is set in stone. now its up to Argentina to take the next moves. and quite predictably they continue move the wrong way

I feel Argentina need to go down the long route, state they have done wrong and they are willing to change its approach to the Falkland Islands and its Islanders. play nice and keep to it and perhaps one day the islanders will start to see Argentina as a friend not a constant annoyance and a country who is objecting to there rights

in 1982 the British sent a task force 8000 miles to free part of our country from an unwanted occupation, That's how much self determination means to the British government, its people and the World as a whole. They could have left it but that wouldn't have been the right thing to do.

now Argentina has the same choice to make move closer? or move further apart?

you already know the answer, the argentine government, egged on by it's brainless and spineless population of nationalist sheep, will continue to harass and insult the Islanders, until their bitterness over the Islander's oil will grow to the point they try another invasion, and are quickly humiliated once again, likely causing argentina to blame some minority group (im guessing the natives again) and start the whole pathetic cycle all over again, until the pathetic excuse of a country collapses entirely and is absorbed by Chile and Brazil.

Surely the slogan is supposed to be:

Surely then it would have been slightly less cowardly than very very cowardly.

Two important points from this article:

    1) Zylberberg is trying to distance himself from the government propaganda.

    2) The Argentine Olympic committee are trying to distance themselves from the government propaganda.

“We do not comment on this action or on political actions. Our only concern is to abide the Olympic chart and rules from the International Olympic Committee to allow and ensure the participation of all of our athletes in the Olympic Games”.

They must be aware that this kind of politicising could lead to repercussions for the Argentine Olympic team.

It reminds me of that song by Shaggy, “It Wasn't Me”.

Just when you thought the Argentine government couldn't get any lower. Truly shameless. For this abuse of a visa Zylberberg should have his Olympic visa revoked simple as that. With a bit of luck KFC would throw a tantrum and withdraw the whole lot of them. It's not like the Argentine team would be missed by anyone. At the last Olympics they finished behind North Korea, Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

May be if Mohammeds try harder they can move further apart the island to let’s say “Africa” who knows. I would not underestimate them on creativity. After all Motherland Ukistan had managed very well to move apart from western values to a more ethnic ones I guess.

    Seriously Chaps,

Here's the UK Border Agency report immigration violation site:
    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/aboutus/contact/report-crime/

Just remember the names Fernando Zylberberg and the company Y&R that organised/filmed it.

Now here is the BBC complaints site. Remember that Y&R get quite a lot of their work in the UK from the BBC.

    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/aboutus/contact/report-crime/

All you need to do is to get the BBC to explain why your license fee is being indirectly spent on supporting anti-british propaganda and Nazi style lebensraum.

I'm pretty sure both the UK border agency and BBC upon getting enough complaints are forced to investigate any cases and complaints.

It's only fair that they answer to the law really.

If Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was in favour of “give peace a chance”, perhaps a covert team of RG land mine clearance engineers sent to the islands being filmed and presented to Argentine TV viewers would have been the only way to start mending the gaping wound Argentina has opened up in recent years. They might have earned a little respect for laying their lives on the line in order to make the lives of the Falkland community that bit more bearable knowing they can walk on land to which the Islanders have been denied for 30 years. The showing of an Athelete prancing up and down a war memorial is frankly disgusting and if the Athlete in question had any morals he would have known what he was doing (for dirty cash) was wrong, whether he knew who ultimately paid for his stunt or not. I think the Athlete should willingly donate his pay to a Falklands War Charity if he truly cares, along with those other Athletes which took part and the Film Crew and PR company which ever country they came from. The fact it ultimately came from Argentinian Government in my view only adds insult to injury.

Whilst it might be natural for us to want to show the Argentine war dead the same respect we must not sink to their level.

Two directors from New York travelled to make the advert. An Argentine living in Spain travelled and was paid for his acting in this advert. This is a professional activity carried out on tourist visas.

Using a War Memorial as part of Argentine propoganda? How tasteless. All war memorials commemorate the fallen soldiers. WW1 was a particularly terrible war and we should always respect the fallen soldiers that ensured freedom rather than fascist rule. 'Lest We Forget'.

This has spectacularly back-fired on Argentina.

So your point is that it is ok because it is only disrespecting fallen soldiers from WW1? Why don't you take a trip to Washington DC and try pulling a similar stunt on the DC War Memorial, and making it into a political advert against the US. See where that gets you.

What is remarkable is that planing actually went into this...and nobody thought “releasing a film of an athlete, during the anniversary of a war, to try to support the idea that the war was fought for, featuring the athlete doing step ups on a war memorial of the other side, this may just reflect badly Argentina”. Not the directors, not the athlete, not the PR company, not the foreign ministry, not the president...

I can only speak for myself, but I humbly ask the forgiveness of the Falkland Islanders and the British people for the total disrepect for your countries and the sacred things like the 1914 Fallen Soldiers Monument shown by my Government.

These are the moments that I feel so ashamed of the conduct of this Government.

And ... no, not all argies aproves things in that way, specially those that like me, have 1982 stamped in their minds and souls forever with the invasion of the Falkland Islands by a fascist argentine military regime and approved by the 90% of the population.

I feel very sorry for my country because now, 30 years after, another 90% approved this kind of nazi propaganda, again.

Absolutely right Elaine and very well said. WW1 memorials are used around the country to honour the dead not just for that conflict but those that have followed. The laying of poppies at these Memorials is testament to their continuing significance in the life of the Country and the debt we owe to those that died.

A sad episode that reflects badly on those involved in this foolish stunt and those that support it.

The GreatWar 1914-1918 In Flanders Fields
    by John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
'Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

I see the resident propagandist for the Malvinistas posted a photo to try and claim it wasn't a war memorial. Look again, the poppies are there because it is a war memorial.

The mere fact that you try to quibble about the offence you've caused and further insult the islanders with references to Andy Capp et al, demonstrates more than adequately Argentine waffling about “respect” for the islanders is utter bullshit.

Monuments to commemorate battles and remember those lost in wars to give us the Britain in which we live freely today, when desecrated by people like this outline precisely why the wars were fought in the first place.

Evil is never far from our shores. Freedoms are so easily lost. I guess the directors thought this was 'clever' and the actor thought it was fun. But it just cements the resolve of people's hearts that the hate, tyranny and evil of Argentina should never be allowed to dictate to the free world.

Young & Rubicam are owned by WPP group which purchased them in the year 2000. WPP group is a London based English company. So the English are furious that an English company made a film on the Islands. And as regards the Argentines mixing sport and politics.

Another argentine 'take' on how it works. You are perfectly entitled to boycott the games in protest about the Falklands. However if you do want to particiapate you are not entitled to use it as an opportunity for propaganda. It's clearly stated in IOC rules.

A thought struck me whilst watching the propaganda piece. Why is it that the Argentinians constantly say that the “Malvinas” ARE Argentinian?

Clearly the Falklands ARE currently British: its a fact.

If their position was “The Falklands are British, but by right they should be Argentinian”, they would at least be adopting a coherent, even though totally incorrect, position.

But as it is their position is factually incorrect and thus logically wrong.

Are they simply deluded? Or just incapable of logical, coherent thought?

Important to focus on WPP and Y&R because while nobody expects ethics or morality from CFK's crew, Argie athletes or Arg veterans, Y&R were the MOST unethical in their key role of being hiding facts from key subjects - Falkland Islanders.

Y&R's awareness of its own lack of ethics explains FIG/Hanson's point as to why no Falkland Islanders in video - Y&R knew it would have deepened their lack of ethics and provided further fuel for a pr-industry review committee to yank their chain on this profit-making, duplicitous stunt.

You can see what has happened here. Maximo and chums - high on whatever it is that gives him the munchies - have a brainstorming session on how to please his Mama. They cook up an idea that would only seem clever in a sixth form common room and hire an advertising company to realise their idea. (Advertising companies are hired by clients and their job is to produce a product under the instruction of their client, to meet their client's wishes).

Having duped the athlete to take part (his motivation was purely money), lied to gain entry to The Falklands, worked there illegally and snuck around the island at dawn to produce the product commissioned by the client, they handed it to Maximo and chums.

Maximo runs to Mama with the advert and she who worships him thinks it is all such a grand idea to broadcast. No one with even half a brain thought to consider the implications of disrespecting the war dead, offending the Falkland Islanders, sending a film crew to work illegally in The Falklands, breaking the rules of the Olympic charter or how it would reflect on the people of Argentina. And that there will be consequences.

A stupid idea, thought up by a terminally stupid Mama's boy to please CFKC's enormous ego.

Both Arg and the company has responsability for the ad. (yes the ad agency is responsible too, if they find the ad is disrespectful they could have said no, I dont do it). And the agency has an owner and it is very clear it is a Sir, english Sir. Y&R knows what is doing and the impact it can produce in Arg and in UK, they work on this. @89 You are completely wrong in your assessment. The British government do not own or control the advertising company. The Argentine government hired the company in Buenos Aires, where they have offices, briefed the company on what it wanted and would have been involved every step of the way. The client instructs the agency, it has the right to approve the advertisement and, if necessary, cancel it if it did not exactly meet their instructions.

The UK had nothing whatsoever to do with producing this advertisement. If you think that you are very confused. But, more importantly, you clearly think the advertisement is offensive and distasteful otherwise you would not be trying so very hard to pass the responsibility to someone other than the Argentine government.

To reiterate, the Argentine government commissioned and paid for this advertisement. They hired a company to make the advertisemnt to their specific instructions. They approved it and broadcast it.

#86: One can only assume that Conqueror meant a country that has a purely-metric measurement system like Argentina, unlike UK, Australia, Canada and others that have saved themselves from brain-dead necrophilia by each having their own weird amalgam of Imperial + Metric. Wikis on metrification anomalies for our countries is rather funny actually.

In Canada as in Australia, we've moved to kms/litres for road speeds/gasoline, but most Canadians still measure body height in feet/inches, some measure their weight in pounds, and food is in both pounds/kgs.

Of course, there is also the little matter of driving direction, and Canada (since that black day in 1922) has gone to the “right side” - a la Argentina. However, its interesting in that video, Zylberberg's run on a road is right smack on the middle line, neither left nor right - and the rest of his running is on sidewalks or cross-country.

Dumped in PATAGONIA: ARGENTINA’s toxic waste
Children exposed to poisonous material in defiance of international law
Green Society News By Cahal Milmo
    Wednesday, 1 May 2012

Tonnes of toxic waste collected from Argentina municipal dumps is being sent illegally to Patagonia in flagrant breach of this country’s obligation to ensure its rapidly growing mountain of defunct televisions, computers and gadgets are disposed of safely.
Hundreds of thousands of discarded items, which under Argentina law must be dismantled or recycled by specialist contractors, are being packaged into cargo containers and shipped to provinces such as Chubut and Santa Cruz, where they are stripped of their raw metals by young men and children working on poisoned waste dumps.
In a joint investigation by The Independent, Sky News, and Greenpeace, Toxic waste was tracked that was shipped illegally. Under environmental protection laws the waste was classified as hazardous and should never have been shipped.
The toxic waste, fitted with a satellite tracking device, was bought by a Buenos Aires-based dealer, one of dozens of operators buying up a significant proportion of the estimated 940,000 tonnes of domestic electronic waste, or e-waste, produced in South America each year and sending it for disposal.
At least a third of the waste is transferred to dumps where waste pickers scavenge amid a cocktail of burning heavy metals and dioxins
A spokesman for Consumers International, which is campaigning for tightened e-waste controls, said: “The sight of Argentinean children scavenging toxic wastelands overflowing with the nation’s unwanted computers and televisions makes a mockery of international bans to prevent the dumping of e-waste. Argentina has shown little desire to deal with the root cause of this problem.”

ARGENTINE FISHERMEN ARE 'DINING ON DOLPHINS' CAUGHT ILLEGALLY IN THE FALKLANDS ISLANDS WATERS

Animals being 'hauled on board trawlers after becoming trapped in nets in Falklands Islands waters' -Wildlife experts believe fisherman are slicing fillets before throwing bodies back into the sea
    By: AFP
    PUBLISHED: 4 May 2012 |

Callous Argentine fishermen are eating steaks carved from dolphins which have been illegally caught in the South Atlantic Channel, conservationists claim.
Experts believe the animals are being hauled on board trawlers after becoming trapped in nets off the Falklands Islands waters.
Fillets of flesh are then sliced off to be eaten before the bodies of the highly intelligent mammals are callously tossed back into the water.

Threat: Common dolphins seen off the Falklands coats. Wildlife experts have accused Argentine fisherman of eating the animals
Since the beginning of January, Falklands Wildlife Trust's Marine Strandings Network has examined and recorded 50 dead dolphins and porpoises. Just under half, 23, showed distinct signs of having died in fishing gear.

A common dolphin, examined on the beach at in early April, one of five discovered in the same week, showed scars typical of a large trawler net from which it presumably tried to escape. A spokesman for South Atlantic Wildlife Trust said: 'A large fillet of flesh had been removed from the back - presumably for eating. 'This is a known practice on Argentine boats and Argentine pair trawlers were working close to the Islands waters at the time. 'The dolphin's tail had been cut off in the course of cutting the animal free from a winch strop which was used to lift it over the side of the boat

This is a global advertising company that has offices in different countries to understand local markets and service the clients there. They will use local staff to better understand the market. Do you think each branch refers back to the parent company regarding every client and every account? Of course not.

Stop trying to shift blame elsewhere. The Argentine government hired an advertising company (an advertising company has no political leaning) to make an highly offensive advertisement for political reasons. They are solely responsible.

I think a political ad, of this characteristics, of a very conflictive issue, like a territory in dispute, with such high profile of governmental and diplomatic and interest on play, is not being annalized, took into account the impact it can generate. This in fact is not a local advertisement. Silly if the company thought it was so. In a global society, and for the subject it treats, nobody can think so. They should refer back to its main land company, it matters them indirectly.

Remember, the hockey player had no idea it was a propaganda advert he was involved in. I wonder now if the advertising agency were not aware of the true nature either.

@110 I am home in the UK for another two weeks........

The statement released by Y and R regarding their office in Buenos Aires,

“It has come to our attention that our agency in Argentina created an ad for the Argentine government that has deeply offended many people in the UK around the world.

”We strongly condemn this work and have asked the Argentine government to pull the spot.

“While we don't believe it was ever the intention of the ad's creators to desecrate a war memorial, they behaved in a manner that is unacceptable to our company.

”Furthermore it is against our policy to be involved in anything that is politically motivated. In addition, this spot was also offensive to the Olympics spirit.

“Whatever it was the creators set out to highlight, what they produced is contrary to everything that we as a company stand for.

”We are deeply regretful for the pain this ad has caused and apologise to the many who have been rightly disturbed by it, as have we. ”

This stupid little video just sums up the whole problem right there - a conniving Argentina deceives a little community in order to make big political hay. Such immorality seems to have infected CFK on this whole issue and continues to trap Argentina in an endless cycle of bad policies around the Falklands.

This really seems to return us to 1982, when Military Junta destroyed the previous attempts to a negotiated approach in dealing with their Falklands problem. Now, CFK chooses to exploit the 30th anniversary of that terrible invasion to relaunch her initiatives. Such poor timing!!

Why not just have a respectful commemoration of the dead this year, wait a year and then seek to get trust of Falkland Islanders and of Britain and get back to a pre-1982 approach? Forget this school-boy one-up-manship that CFK seems to crave now. That video is an embarrassment that just seems to typify the whole Argie approach. Just gets hackles up and won't be so productive (and certainly not justified) as a calm, careful, respectful approach. Its like CFK is only seeking short-term political brownie-points and doesn't really care that even Maximo's grand children will be no closer to grabbing the Falklands.

@116 As others have said, one of the theories is that Turkeyneck has no intention of ever coming to a rational productive agreement with the UK over the Falklands. If the issue was ever settled, the Argie governments would lose their biggest weapon for whipping the braindead nationalist sheep up into a frenzy any time they need to be distracted from scummy corruption or incompetence (which is pretty frequent there as we've seen).

As a thought experiment: imagine how shocking it would be for foreign government to make a video of one of their athletes training for an event to be held in the USA, showing that athlete doing step ups or otherwise jumping around on a memorial for the fallen in the National Mall, using the video to try to make a cheap political point against the USA, and then releasing the video during the anniversary of a war of aggression that foreign nation had launched against the USA.

It doesn't matter what you think of the rights and wrongs of any diplomatic dispute between the UK and Argentina, for the Argentine administration to try to score points by releasing a video of an Argentine athlete training for London 2012 doing step-ups on the British war memorial in Port Stanley during the 30th anniversary of the Falklands Conflict is at best utterly incompetent, at worst a deliberate attempt to insult

This Argentine athlete abused the Islanders' hospitality, pranced about on the war memorial, and politicized an international sporting event to make a propaganda film claiming ownership over his neighbors, who not that long ago were victims of Argentine aggression.

It's shameful. His invitation to the London Olympics should be rescinded

I'm affraid that you have allowed yourself to be indoctrinated by Propaganda and not historical facts.

The facts regarding the Falkland Islands are:

During the 1600-1800 period the Falkland Islands changed hands many times between Britain, Spain and France until France gave up and Spain and Britain signed a truce. When Spain was thrown out of South America from various wars of independence, Britain was left with the last standing legal claim. However, the early Argentine Republic decided it wanted the Falkland Islands but instead of claiming it, it attempted to subdue the private/penal colony of one Loius Vernet who had already gone to the British for permission to be there and he had recognised the British ownership of tyhe Islands. Later realizing that Vernet was in league with the Argentinians the British sent a ship to take direct control of the settlement and eject the garrison but allowed the settlers to stay on. While this irritated Argentina, by 1850 Argentina had forgotten about the Islands and legally dropped its claim in a treaty with the UK.

It was only as late as the 1950's that Peron distorted historical facts with rhetoric and propoganda.

Another Argentine not understanding that the advert was made by a subsidiary of a British company. The New York head office of the subsidiary has made the Buenos Aires office issue a full and unreserved apology.

    I hate negative advertising...

Next time you choose a red wine from the southern hemisphere at Tesco think about the following:

The Killing Fields of Argentina–The Annual South Atlantic Baby Seal Hunt
    EFE Jose Duignano - May 4, 2012

The annual Argentinean baby seal hunt is again scheduled for November. Although little known, the the target is the infant of the species. For six to eight weeks each spring, the ice floes of the South Atlantic waters turn bloody, as some 300,000 harp seal pups, virtually all between 2 and 12 weeks old, are beaten to death—their skulls crushed with a heavy club called a hakapik—or shot. They are then skinned on the ice or in nearby hunting vessels after being dragged to the ships with boat hooks. The skinned carcasses are usually left on the ice or tossed in the ocean.
Thousands of other wounded pups (estimates range from 15,000 to 150,000 per year) manage to escape the hunters but die later of their injuries or drown after falling off the ice (pups younger than about 5 weeks cannot swim). The seals are hunted chiefly for their pelts, which are exported to China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Turkey, Russia, and other countries, where they are used to make expensive designer-label coats and accessories. Among the major vendors of these products are the Italian fashion-wear companies Gucci, Prada, and Versace.
The Argentinean seal hunt has provoked worldwide outrage and intense protest by animal-rights, environmental, and scientific groups, by national governments, and by some international governmental institutions, such as the European Union, all of which have objected that it is viciously cruel and, in its typical size, a serious threat to the long-term survival of the harp seal species. Both charges have been vehemently rejected by Argentina’s Department of Fisheries and claims that the hunt provides an important source of revenue for Patagonia’s economy and that seal hunting in Argentina is an economically viable.

This along with some other shocking news is being posted on several blogs.

IBA News Wire: Dog Fighting in Argentina

On May 3, 2012, the SBS TV program called “TV Animal Farm” exposed the horrific reality of dog fighting in Argentina.

The program showed an entrenched dog fighting culture in which people watching dog fighting as a form of national entertainment.
In the dog fights, dogs are not necessarily forced to kill each other. The fighting ends when there is a clear winner. But ultimately, it is still a fight to the death because the losers of dog fights very quickly end up as lasagna meat at Italian restaurants in Buenos Aries.

Dogs that survive fights can sustain serious injuries and are only treated with an antibiotics injection. They do not get proper veterinarian care.
For the training, dogs are forced to run on running machines without a break. Their necks are tied to the machines, preventing any escape and forcing them to run.

Argentinean police ignore the problem, since it appears that there are connections between the police and people in dog-fighting industry. Typically, it is an industry involving gambling and government corruption.

#148 For my dearest friend Joe Bloggs, ”Guzz's alter ego:

    Net News May 3, 2012

Former Argentine President, Néstor Carlos Kirchner, craved cocaine and cars, farted uncontrollably due to his vegetarian diet and was injected with semen from young bulls to keep up with his sexually active wife, Cristina Fernández, according to a rarely seen and historic cache documents discovered at the Casa Rosada and set for public auction next week.

The documents include the original 47-page classified report of President Kirchner, craved cocaine and cars, farted uncontrollably due to his vegetarian diet and was injected with semen from young bulls to keep up with his sexually active wife, Cristina Fernández, according to a rarely seen and historic cache documents discovered at the Casa Rosada and set for public auction next week.
The documents include the original 47-page classified report of the former president’s health culled from post-mortem interviews with his six chief doctors and that include diaries of what he heard Kirchner said, such as, “Blair and Bush are monkeys.”

The Kirchner cache, which is up for sale May 8-9 at Alexander Historical Auctions, a well-known seller of historical items.

The classified doctor’s report includes several extensive details about his health. Panagopulos said it quotes Kirchner doctor Theodore Morrell confirming that Nestor and Cristina had sex though they slept in separate beds and that he was injected with semen from young bulls to spark his libido. Under the section “Sex Characteristics,” the classified report said:

Panagopulos said the report also notes that Nestor “suffered from uncontrollable flatulence” due to his veggie diet, something the Argentine leader took pills for.

The longer report from Giesing noted Nestor’s cocaine use to clear his sinuses and that the doctor had to cut the dosage because the father of the “Malvinas Solution” craved it because it made him happy.

I agree, the First World War was just a pissing contest. Nothing at all like WWII.

It was not an honorable war by any means. It was just the Brits, French, Germans and Italians fighting for “I got the bigger sack” rights.

Seems they do not want to losse the UK market hihi!

Advertising agency Young & Rubicam apologized for the ad created by its agency in Argentina, saying the spot was deeply offensive to people around the world and to the Olympic spirit.

“We strongly condemn this work and have asked the Argentine government to pull the spot,” it said in a statement Friday, adding that the ad’s creators “behaved in a manner that is unacceptable” to the company.

Its statement did not mention how much Young & Rubicam was paid for the commercial, or if it plans to return the money. :-):-)

No, malen, the WPP owners of the advertising agency are livid. Even if the government had not instigated it, The Black Widow purchased it and with the help of your national(s) broadcasters, transmitted with a 'Ha ha ha aren't we clever' and a 'but its for our fallen soldiers' so it's all great. ”And they gave him (Pedro Giachino) a fucking medal, not any old medal, but the highest argie award :-))))))”

    I say:
    Yes…..., “THEY” did.
    Who are “THEY”?
“THEY” are the military bastards which Britain and America favored during the seventies.
“THEY” are the military bastards to whom Britain sold arms that killed British soldiers.
“THEY” are the military bastards that WE have put in jail for their crimes.

”A number of witnesses' statements surfaced in 2011, accusing Giachino of being the commander of the illegal repression of militants in the area of Zárate-Campana, in northern Buenos Aires Province, between 1976 and 1977, during the dirty war. Circumstancial evidence also mentions him as being in charge of the external security of Mar del Plata's naval base, at a time when a part of the military facilities was used as a detention and interrogation center. His death prevents any further legal investigation, but the pressure of Human Rights groups compelled the City Council of Mar del Plata to remove his portrait from the chamber, where both the fallen soldiers from Mar del Plata and the local victims of the Argentine dictatorship are honoured.[4]

Oh think, think!! You've really f**ked yourslf now haven't you? and in public too, have you no shame? Before you started on the “British double moral” you should have listen to what your countrymen said shouldn't you? I suppose you know of Colonal Manual Dorrego? oh well...

Because he knew a thing or two, He thought he knew it all......

This is what he had to say about the minefields your countrymen so thoughtfully left on the Falklands and YES!! there is no such place as Islas Malvinas:-

There is no reason, in my judgement, why today England should have left minefields that have not been cleared on the Islands. If I were a 'kelper', I would make a demand, not on those who left them, but on England, to clear the mines, which would give them the peace of mind they need. The cost would signify absolutely nothing to England, if this brings peace of mind to the village that is there.

If I were a 'kelper' I would have liked not to be invaded in the first place and seems how there was nothing I could do about that, I would have liked the Argentinian scum not to have left their mines in our country. What do you say “Think”?

A clear case of Argentinian double standards I “Think”, Don't you?

@86 Until you do something publicly that merits attention from others, only you, and possibly your close family, can determine what you are.
@98 You're making the horrible mistake of thinking of argies as people. They aren't. Well, maybe half-a-dozen.
@103 Innocents? You went there, did you? Asked them?
@127 Of course you don't understand. That's because you're a thick, ignorant, lying argie. Could you do the world a favour by jumping in front of a train? Assuming you have one that works!
@190 Our missiles and arms are there for a simple purpose. To protect and defend the Falkland Islanders and THEIR home. A good tip would be for you and any of your cretinous pals to avoid upsetting us. You know how those things can just “go off”.
@192 Of course you lie. You're an argie. You wouldn't know how to do anything else.
@203 Read your link. And how stupid are you? Is it because it's in a proper language that you can't understand it? Can you see the contradictions? Do you want to start with the title of the article that includes “NATO Occupation”? Do you recall all those news videos showing U.S., British and French forces storming ashore? What about all the videos of their camps and of their armoured forces fanning out across the country?
@205 Glad you mentioned that. Did you happen to notice that Buenos Aires was “legally” Spanish at the time? Did you also happen to notice that Britain and Spain were at war? In 1807 the British Slave Trade Act made the slave trade illegal throughout the British Empire. Not a lot of point in “try to sell them to slavery”.
@211 None so blind as those who do not want to see. I had a look at his “NATO defeated in Libya”. Typical Russian/Communist propaganda. The other article is just as funny. The reference to “indiscriminate........shelling by NATO” is highly amusing since NATO never put any artillery on the ground. How easy it is to con the already brain-washed!

Spain evacuated Buenos Aires precisely to keep it out of the fighting. Thus there were not SPanish troops there.

Which is why the residents of Buenos Aires had to for militias. I know adding 1 + 1 can be difficult...

Furthermore, you can't have it both ways. You can't say “The Falklanders have been there for over 200 years, longer than argie as a country”, and then deny the same rights to citizens of Buenos Aires. Many could trace their lines back to the 1500s, meaning they had lived in BA for 300 years. Never been to Spain or any relation to that country. Mestizo and mulatto... It was them that defeated the British not the Spanish. Within 36 months they were officially argentines... do you think the change happened in those 36 months or perhaps it was long before established that they did not think of themselves as SPanish?

    @226

To the British, whether they were colonial or mainland Spanish, they were still Spanish.

They may have thought of themselves as Criollo rather than Peninsular, but they did not become officially Argentine until 1831.

Although 1810 does seem to be the point in Argentine history at which the descendants of European settlers in Argentina, magically transformed into indigenous people, with the right to call Islanders illegal settlers, ect ect.

The fact remains that in 1806 and 1807 they were occupants of a Spanish POSSESSION. They weren't argies. They were just Spanish, etc. settlers engaged in genocide of the native population. Incidentally, the “leaders” of the militias were French. Not surprising. Spaniards and argies have always been cowards. Remember no argie “rebellion” until 1810!

Ironic and rather sad that a previous Argentine-made, Falklands-sited “mockumentary”, called “Fuckland” (2000) also depended on subterfuge, lies and an insulting misogynist theme: that Argentina would get back the Falklands by secretly impregnating enough Falklands women that their children would be Argentine.

Labeled as a “comedy-drama”, Fuckland - and now the recent Y&R spot would seem to be a metaphor on how cunning the Argentine film-makers are - and how trusting the Falklanders. How low the Argentine film-makers will stoop - and be wildly applauded for their exploits by their compatriots.

the British want Argentina to apologize for the advertising spot. I wonder if the British will be asked once apologized for sending nuclear warheads aboard the HMS Coventry and Sheffield. Islanders fill their mouths talking about “the invasion of Argentina's 82” while quietly recognize and to acknowledge the war as their situation changes completely, I have heard from their own mouths, they are very basic!. Fill their mouths talking about “self-determination”, when the government is sent from England and recently living in the Falklands. Independence malvinas looking on is nothing more than a “disguise” so that Argentina can no longer bother just that. That self-determination talking about? if the islanders were stooges of Britain love to be. for example, located a utopia, if britain morning saying “the islands remain under the sovereignty of Argentina” you have no choice but q obey what they say, I remember a statement by an islander on the situation in 1980 that from the UK said, “if they invade, we are not going to go and rescue, Stick to the consequences” which means that more than fill your mouth is talking about “self-determination” (status quo armed by england also the same as used for gibraltar), the boss of you is England, know this. course in 1982 the situation changed, because Thatcher realized that going to war would mean a win political will and therefore “went to their rescue”.

The UKGNI (the current formal name of UK as a nation) was not either formally formed until 1927.

“The name “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” was introduced in 1927 by the Royal and Parliamentary Titles Act to reflect the reality that the de facto independence of the Irish Free State, created by the partitioning of Ireland in 1922, left Northern Ireland as the only part of the island of Ireland still within the UK”

If a British athelete did the same on any of your national memorials, you too would be disgusted, and rightly so.

@dannyberger - facepalm yourself or roll your eyes skyward all you like . Your propaganda video achieved precisely the opposite affect of what Argentina intended.

All you have done is show how British the Falklands are- and show yourself to be single minded yobs. The ICO has rightly condemmed your country for politicising the games.

@marcio- I know what - why don't you apologise for making us send warships to the South Atlantic to liberate the Falklands from your unprovoked facsist invasion and occupation - then apolgise for all the war deaths you caused.

@tobias - so what about your analysis - get over it, welcome to the world of realpolitik. Besides we owed Gaddafi for backing the IRA and gunning down people (including WPC Yvonne Fletcher) in the streets of London - and then lets not forget Lockerbie.

Besides - Turkey may yet do something about Syria- that would invoke support from us.

The stunt has irritated the IOC which is now in a long queue behind UK, USA, Spain, EU and many others.

The Argentinian's couldn't even accept it when a binding international awarded the Beagle Islands to Chile and set up a maritime boundary consistent with their claims. Even the Pope came down on the side of Chile.

The country will not accept historical facts and has filled the minds of their children with inaccuracies since the time of Peron. It is evident that reading some of the comments in this blog that these very Argentinian's brought up on a diet of misinformation are writing above. The present Argentine government will not even admit that their inflation is 25% stating that in is only 10/12%. It is this Argentine government that have a British ambassador's like Castro and a foreign ambassador like Timerman - both joke politicians on a world stage. All this is evident by just looking at the fact that Argentina lies in 100th place in the Worldwide Corruption Index alongside Benin, Burkino Faso and Madagascar which shows that the country lacks basic honesty.

2- I don’t really care about the insult, that is not the point.
3- I said “that” to you because you being a “Lady” you are degrading yourself by using such language.

    @276DanyBerger,
Yes l can show you where you insult us,
    1)
You call us, monkeys(affen) & mohameds.
You refer to the UK as Ukistan.
Others too, but l really couldn't be bothered to list them all.
Once or twice is funny, Danyboy, but continually becomes a pain.
lf you are trying to get a stir because of the muslim population in the UK, just remember that there are religeous minorities in most countries of the world.
Dare l say it, gasp! probably even in Argentina.
    Certainly in dear old Deutschland.
    2)
Told you, l'm not a Lady.
Don't think that l am degrading myself.
l've heard a lot worse than that. l can swear in 5 languages if l need to.
l don't swear a lot, but occasionally if the action merits a swearword, l have been known to drop a “magic”.
    Happy now?

#268 “I forgot Malen. He works for Maximo too. You can tell by his lack of girlfriend.”

First as Isolde already pointed out malen is a girl (Isolde I wonder why you think women's posts are more full of vitriolic nastiness, hmmm). And if she worked for Maximo would she really have been discussing him as cuttingly as she did with me a few threads ago, as well as opposing the re-election of the magnificent beautiful Cristina and supporting Binner?!

#277 Isolde the funny thing here is I strongly agree with you and not Danny on the British Muslim issue =)

I think it is really out of order to have a go at Isolde for that name. It's extremely homophobic and welive in 2012. Nowadays, Isolde shouldn't be attacked for loving a Tristan. Love doesn't dicriminate, and we should all accept that. Add this to the fact that sheep doesn't always cut it in Mount Pleasant, thus having a Tristan makes perfectly sense... Like Platons cave...

@275. Had you been there at the time, you'd know that statement isn't true. It wasn't us that shot our own soldiers, it wasn't us that stripped men and staked them out on hillsides in Winter for asking the local population for food but I will admit to being able to name our dead. When was the last time you visited? We certainly didn't shoot our prisoners or walk them into minefields.
You certainly seem a couple of sandwiches short old son. Buying me a pint would be a waste of your time, but as is usual with your sort, you only chose to read some of my script. I still have teeth by the way, and probably still would have after you left.
Anyway, my confused friend, I have to go now. It's been fun reading your histrionic and, dare I say, hysterical, posts here. Toodle-pip!

Argentina is a product of colonialism, conquered by the sword, most of the natives killed and infected by disease, their land taken from them and worked by imported African slaves, oversean by imported European colonials. The African's who made up 50% of the population would themselves completely disapear from Argentina between 1850-1900 in what could have been a chilling fore runner to the disareances of the Dirty War in the 1970's when an estimated 30,000 Argentines were raped, tortured and murdered, many more were held illegally in detention camps and tortured. The true figure for the dead could be as high as 100,000, no one knows because there is little official documentation and most bodies were dumped in the sea.

Argentina took land from its neighbours in numberous wars , civil wars and land grabs - Paraguay, Uraguay, Chile. Today Argentina despite the changed political landscape is still a nation characterised by uber nationalism. The claim to the Falklands was surendered in 1850 but reserected in 1941 by a fascist junta, which inc Peron, they thought their friends the Nazi were going to win the war, the Falklands looked easy picking.

In 1982 Argentina was under the latest succession of a series of fascism military junta's. Their hold on power was looking precarious, in deperation they sort a war, Chile looked like a good victim, they already claimed lots of land and were ignoring the international tribunals that had ruled in Chile's favor. But then they changed their mind and invaded the Falklands. Today the war is romanticized by a nation ruled by a kind of cross between a Neo-Nazi uber nationalist and a Charvesta Revolutionary uber Marxist. The only thing missing is the land reform. Maybe that's for later? But as few natives remain, maybe they'll just ignore their rights... God knows they always have. An entire culture replaced by a European one. Entire languages destroyed.

Timmerman should take time to read about his country's history.

    Ohhhh…............................. But it is true…..

Hope the Argentinean plan of presenting the evidence internationally goes through.

After 30 patient years, struggling to put most of our dastardly military brass in jail, we have become quite good at digging evidence from the hidden past.

And there is lots of written and verbal evidence in the UK.

Lots of books from Brits that ”Were there at the time”, telling ”unpleasant” stories.

Lots of ”farewell suicide letters” from Brits that ”were there at the time” who didn’t want to cope with it aymore.

Lots of Brit families, tired of hearing dad´s ”unpleasant stories”.

And even the odd veteran that may be willing to talk.

    See you in court, hopefully.............

    @Isolde

1-Mohhamed is not and insult is a very popular name in Britain like in Argentina could be Fabio, Daniel, Mario, Fernando, etc.

Why do you feel it is an insult or something bad?

Are you going now to deny the right to self-determination of the majority of your fellow countrymen to call them-selves as they wish?

You don’t seem to be a lover of S-D, democracy and freedom after all. I hope I’m wrong. Am I?

3- What’s wrong with Ukistan, Londonistan, etc? Everyone use it outside Britain and even your newspapers in UK.

WikiLeaks: Whitehall ignored warnings about 'Londonistan’ danger (Telegraph).

Can you explain me why it is an insult?
Everyone knows that UK looks more than a Middle East country than a Western country.
Are you going to deny that too?

    Some truth there.

The Falklands are a Democratic Dependency, not a nation.

And what relevance has any of that to what I said @227?

Saying things that may be true, but are completely irrelevant, does not make you look clever, quite the reverse.

    @285 DanyBerger
Your kebabaPhobia is getting worse by the day.

    I have to ask this:

As you don’t live here, why does any of it matter to you?

  • DanyBerger

    @Pugol-H

1-Puhol-H I am just only showing your inconsistency and how your twist facts to make your point by using different logic in your arguments. That’s all.

    You say to “tobias” in
#235 “To the British, whether they were colonial or mainland Spanish, they were still Spanish.” Logic 1

But when you refer to the Islands you claim that this are not a colonial enclave belonging to UK otherwise you use the euphemism of “Democratic Dependency”. Here you use logic 2

And what in substance is the difference between with UK “Democratic Dependency” and the Spanish “Democratic Dependency” if also had local authorities, Governor with independence to exercise power, administrate justice, etc.
Can you explain to us the difference? Because as you have proper showed up I’m not so clever and I need some help, be patient with me would you please?

2-“ As you don’t live here, why does any of it matter to you?”

Well you don’t live in Arg. or SA either so why all this matter to you?

I cannot be concerned about what happen with fellow Mohammeds and their future in that little island in NS?
There is any international law against that?

I don’t understand why you guys feel so touchy about the subject, relatives of you perhaps?

    @291 DanyBerger
You are trying to compare situations that happened two centuries apart.

Have no real connection to each other, not least that one event is long over and the other is still in play.

However in this case the logic does remain the same:

Colonial or mainland Spanish = Spanish

British democratic dependency (former colony) or mainland British = British

The difference was Argentina chose to break away from its mother country and de-colonised itself.
The Islanders chose to remain a part of the mother country and de-colonised to become a democratic dependency.
The histories evolved differently, that is all. This does not give Argentina any rights to claim the Islands.

“And what in substance is the difference between with UK “Democratic Dependency” and the Spanish “Democratic Dependency” –
One is democratic, the other was not.

“Well you don’t live in Arg. or SA either so why all this matter to you” – Arg is a threat to three British territories, and as how much of a threat is largely dependant on the government of the day, and economic situation in Argentina, it is of interest to us.

yes you are right , in the uk we do have an exceptionally high muslim population , as do most european countries, as we tend to have (mainly due to interferring german politicians) an increasingly open cross border policy, and when the case arrises that a person of any nationality ,decides to attack us on our soil, it is you germans with your european laws , subvert the laws of the uk, to prevent deportation, it is in fact european policy that we have open borders between eu , allowing people to pass freely. european policy , generally dictated by germans!, and want to know the real issue why you dont have as many mohammeds as you so eloquently put it , is the british nation isnt full of nazi racist bigots like germany, we didnt start two worlds wars, causing the loss of millions of lives, we didnt permit the holocaust of 6 million persons of jewish decent, britain is a land of many peoples , because we are tolerant , germany is , and has been a country of intolerance, my point is made , danyberger f$%! o&*
