If Argentina was not the “republiketa” that it is, it would be as great as Australia.... Thanks to this crap I have friends and some relatives who reside in Argentina asking me to bring them some dollars next month when I come down there....because my mother was born in Argentina I had the pleasure of living between Buenos Aires and Louisiana. When I live there twy had this show called “ La Argentina de Tato ” I never understood the show well because I was then a little kid and the show was more about then president Menem s picture being found by Argentiniologists after the country went missing. Now I think to myself oh my how right that man was.
I have not returned to Argentina more than 3 times in the past 12 years and I have not seen any improvements .. They still have sewer water running on the streets and villas. Hope the best for them.

3 times visited Argentina and have not seen any improvements?
“villas” are growing, sewer waters now use to be like streams, Our “loved” president is richer, our economy is running so well that in a few months we will need no more banks (nobody will have money to save), and we don't use american dollar anymore (the government don't let us to buy).
And, be sure, in a few years will be more improvements like these!!!!

I hope everyone likes going to MDP next summer! Go swim in the cold brown water on the windy wet beach. Doesn't that sound fun!
CFk is turning back the clocks to isolate the RGs so they don't know what they are missing. It will be like 1978 again when they 1st saw color TV! The mass is easier to control when they are uneducated and don't know what they are missing.
BTW any more building collapse today?

    Tato was right I meant.
As far as the water I am referring to water draining on the side of the curb coming from inside the houses and many times gathering on intersections. Go to Lanus and check. I asked not so long ago an I was told they were still running.

All 4 of those nations have democratic elected governments, which at times is more that can be said about your own country. Fair enough you disagree with their ideology, but they obviously disagrees with yours. Doesn't mean you have the right to invade, finance a coup, meddle or kill your opponents.
That's democracy for you, sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. Work harder for what you believe in, within the democratic process, and if you succeed, you will see the people will follow your lead.

We can invade, finance, meddle or kill anyone we want. I think the only reason that those gov't heads are still running around is that none of the countries have anything we want or need. Venezuela already gives us most of their oil so why would we have to spend extra $ trying to run it and/or rebuild it.
If you think democracy is alive and well in those countries ( maybe Bolivia because Evo is weak) you are delusional. I will give you a hint in civilized countries we don't get a $50 to vote for the gov't.

That is fine as long as they country can withstand the retaliation. I think the USSC will rule the BCRA reserves are attachable. It is pretty hard to run a country without reserves, don't you think? That will make the precedent for Venezuela and all the other rogue nations. The courts take a long time and both CFK and Chavez have been counting on that to survive. But it is all coming to a head now.

    Checked the debt clock?

Your country will be destroyed by meddling and killing in other countries, whether you like it or not. I know it, you know it.

The terrorists mount a 200k attack and you spend 1 trillion in treasury in return. And that's just what is accounted through war.

I can't even imagine the trillions in internal security from airports to gov buildings to intelligence, plus the private sector effect on the same sector plus dampening travel, fear, etc.

As it is the USA is losing billions on people bypassing the USA to travel to other countries when connecting flights. That is small but perpicuous example, and like those imagine the many more that cannot be accounted for.

All for an attack that cost 200k (or was it 2 million). Anyway... the point is you are going down, because you can't win the war you are fighting.

One succesful terror attack tomorrow and the last 12 years were for not. How does that feel yankeeboy?

Germany would have never attacked Argentina, we were neutral. In fact the USA came closer to attacking Argentina (with Brazil), because their ego was hurt when we didn't join the war when the USA was attacked, being the only Latin American country to refuse to declare war to satisfy their ehtereal conceit.

I've only heard of Pocahontas, maybe the Buffalo dude... was he the Dances with Wolves theme? I think most chiefs in North American tribes are called Bull or Buffalo.

Argentina did not invent the bus. That one is a local myth. I don't think anyone in particular did. There were other local inventions that are very important yet most people don't know about, from the science of dactilography, to many of the surgical tools in OPs around the world, to animation, to a working helicopter and blood banks.

Toby, War is necessary to our economy. We need to have one every 20-30 yrs to clear out all the old stuff and build new stuff. It gives them a reason to order more. The bulk of the $ spent goes back to US suppliers so it is not like it is totally lost. There have been some AMAZING Military advancements from these last two wars plus it taught us urban combat. Our forces learned a lot and field testing the new technology is priceless. Do you think the drone capability would be as advanced as it is if we didn't have Pakis and Afganis to blow up? Where are we going to test it Buenos Aires? Hmm maybe....

    @21 tobias......
”Your country (USA) will be destroyed by meddling and killing in other countries, whether you like it or not. I know it, you know it.”
Some economists have forecast the demise of the United States because of its fiscal irresponsibility. I could partially agree with that.... BUT YOUR COMMENT is absolutely ridiculous. The USA could meddle and kill in other countries to their hearts content, it could never lead to the destruction of this mighty nation. The sheer size and power of its military is mind-blowing, eclipsing the entire rest of the world combined.
This includes Argentina's 9 remaining operational A4 Skyhawks (joke).
Even if you took your comment out of the “demise of America equation” there are still many options for this economically errant child. Firstly they print the worlds reserve currency. This fact enables them raise as much funding as they want, by the press of a button. Secondly if they don't want to print dollars they can sell bonds, the rest of the world buys as many as they can issue. You see they are in a privileged position, and if the shit really hit the fan and they were unable to pay their debts they could simply devalue the Dollar and more or less eliminate the debt through devaluation. They have many options open to them, and they will continue to be the worlds ONLY superpower for many many years to come.

Returning to the thread from the ridiculous posts on the fall of the American Empire, it is interesting to note that various constitutional experts in Argentina have shown that the Governments rulings on the buying of foreign currency are anti-constitutional.

I don't think there is any need for another state to attack America to make it fail: they are doing a good job of it on their own.

Immigrants still out of control (like the UK), Islamists making inroads into society to threaten the population (like in the UK), the Fed out of control and headed by an imbicile (like in the UK BoE), the government consistently telling the people lies and reducing civil liberties (like in the UK).

For 50 of my 66 years I not only loved my country, I could see some sense in voting in elections. Now I still love my country, but hate with a vengeance what the stupid politicians have, and still are, doing to it.

    @33

One succesful nuke snuck in to the USA and its all over.

The reason the USA will be destroyed (and I don't mean physically every building being literally comminuted), is because the war they are fighting is assymetrical, to the umpteenth degree.

As I said, the terrorists spend 2-5 million on a succesfull attack, they spend 2 trillion.

Can you honestly tell me that is a winning formula?

The terrorist won in a far more sinister way than anyone even has considered: when the attacks of 2001 ocurred, not only did it force the USA to spend trillions in wars, internal security (both in the private and public sector), and trepidation to the population... it also forced the FED's hand in lowering interest rates to ridiculous levels for 2-3 years.

Result? A massive speculative debt buble centered on real estate.

In fact the 2008 USA economic crisis can in fact be partly attributed to Al Qaeda, which made the interest rate enviroment rife for wild distortions.

Again, one succesful attack and it's back to square one.

And this time where are they going to get another couple trillion to invade Yemen, or whoever the next Afghanistan or Iraq is. Because we all know there will be another.

That is why the destruction will come. Not so much physical or in a battle field, but from within do to its own foundations liquifying.

Why I say the USA THINKS they can get away with invading other countries and changing governments, but that is exactly what led them to the current situation... They will never get it though.

Some people in SA need to stop mixing wine with cocaine...
    Just read the comments
The US of A will remain world power ...
I am not a big country fan but Toby Keith Explains something te world should know about our country:
American girls and American guys, will always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize, when we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.
My daddy served in the army where he lost his right eye,
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love is fallin' under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July.

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue.

Oh, justice will be served and the battle will rage:
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
An' you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A.
'Cos we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way.

Those lyrics are brimming with agitprop.

Though I am not implying agitprop is solely deleterious. It is positive and copasetic that people be patriotic verging on chauvinistic in regards to their country; nevertheless, it is quite simply a song composed by an artist and not a legimitate source from which to draw geopolitical conclusions or predictions.

The USA will not win their current exigency under the current formula. The terrorist don't want to vanquish your troops, they want to vanquish your country. Whether they achieve on a battlefield or in the halls of Wall Street, that is irrelevant to them. The result is the end.

Marcos: America is nothing like that. We are a mixed society with American born caucasians,African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, all of us make this a good country. If our government makes mistakes it is not entirely the citizens fault.
Read the following lyrics . They describe this place pretty well.

Driving ' down the street today I saw a sign for lemonade
They were the cutest kids I'd ever seen in this front yard
As they handed me my glass, smilin' thinkin' to myself
Man, what a picture-perfect postcard this would make of America

    It's a high school prom, it's a Springsteen song, it's a ride in a Chevrolet
It's a man on the moon and fireflies in June and kids sellin' lemonade
It's cities and farms, it's open arms, one nation under God
    It's America

Later on when I got home, I flipped the TV on
I saw a little town that some big twister tore apart
And people came from miles around just to help their neighbors out
And I was thinkin' to myself I'm so glad that I live in America

    It's a high school prom, it's a Springsteen song, it's a ride in a Chevrolet
It's a man on the moon and fireflies in June and kids sellin' lemonade
It's cities and farms, it's open arms, one nation under God
    It's America!

Now we might not always get it all right
There's no place else I'd rather build my life

    'Cause it's a kid with a chance, it's a rock 'n roll band
    It's a farmer cuttin' hay
It's a big flag flyin' in a summer wind
    Over a fallen hero's grave

    It's a high school prom, it's a Springsteen song
It's a welcome home parade, yeah
It's a man on the moon and fireflies in June and kids sellin' lemonade
It's cities and farms, it's open arms, one nation under God
It's America! It's America! Oh, oh yeah, woo!

Marcos, women like you know nothing of my country. Women like you are the true wannabes. I will be damned if I allow myself to be lured into the cesspool of your world. You are just one angry women and jealous because of what you leaders have done. Come on little girl, bring on some more lame, half witted, poorly contrived insult. And of course the USA is so bad, I mean, we lead the world because we are stupid, the dollar is the international standard because we are poor, everyone wants to life here because it is so nasty, be are trying to stop people from coming into our country because it's so undesirable to live. You remind me of a fart.....stink for a while, then become a funny afterthought, then fade away.

Facts are facts little chica.......something your country distorts to it's people. So by saying “get xome facts correct” you are suggesting that the USA dollar is not the international standard? Also the USA is a PERMANENT member of the UN Security Counsel.....Must be lucky or something. And according to the U.N. database.....the USA still holds the number one largest econcomy in the world......Still.....not not for long....still. ANd no worries chica.....I am not talking to you, I can't get that low.....I am talking at you. My previoius statement holds true, not one untrue fact Senorita Flatulence......go have an empanada.
As for forcing the pound out after WWII, the dollar was the only stable and freely traded monetary unit available for international trade, agreed upon in the 1944 Bretton Wood agreement. Ypou are quite poorly educated and ill informed, but thats expected of hispanic women. No worries

lol you are a bemusement and befuddle yourself in limited thoughts. You should learn to substantiate your statements, but you example of debate is Peronist, whom usually makes as much usefulness as tits on a bull. Once again Little Chica, you know othing but the limited words you feebley attempt to profess. and BTW, I am no Puerto Rican.......100% russian descent and 4th generation American. And yanqui, unless you are indigenous native, you come from europe as well. You really need to see a shrink, such hatred your leaders have developed by stealing from you and repressing......I really do feel much sorrow for you.

blah blah blah.......what a lot of nothing you preach “Capitan Flor”. Everyone knows the Bretton woods system was to benefit....oh....AMERICA.....imagine that!
Or to be exact the money lenders who controlled AMERICA!
So your russian 100% 4th generation? You must be quite inbred by now then. That explains your simplistic childish arguments!

Of course it was to our benefit, the USA had just saved Europe. But I am sure you can argue that didn't happen either. You don't like the USA cut your wrists, I will mail you a rusty razor. Being south america, you may never get it. I've heard better insults from a 5 year old.
You hate America......but I love it, because there is not a fucking thing you little latinos can do about it but insult here.
