    Prediction:

All the malvinists will start searching for opinion polls on the UK government !!

    @1 - brit abroad.

You're not wrong about that, the usual suspects will be along spouting their usual drivel.

They don't understand that the British government are actually doing something about our problems, and not burying their heads in the sand hoping that all the problems just go away. They are implementing policies that aren't all that popular, but they aren't doing these things to be popular, they are doing them to sort out the economy. Regardless of whether we agree with their methods or not, Britain has retained its AAA rating.

Argentina, whose government refuses to face reality, is finally realising just how bad things are. CFK and her cronies could only distract the people for so long with their antics regarding the Falklands.

The clock is ticking, CFK, your end is nigh. The sooner the better for the people of Argentina.

Okay then should I break the norm and comment the British government. The only reason I would bash our govenment is because I am a Labour supporter.

Now for all you Tory followers.......... you can start ripping into me now. Let's hear it. “Labour caused all the problems we are facing now” crap.

Only joking. You can rip me if you like. Labour have made thier fare share of mistakes. Unlike CFK who has made an unfair share of mistakes. I am not surpirsed by this article one little bit.

    @3 - Bombadier Spoon.

The difference is that the British Goverment (whoever was in power) would've had to implement cuts. The only real argument between the parties was how much and how quickly those cuts happened.

None of them buried their head in the sand (except maybe for Gordon Brown LOL), they knew that problems don't just magically disappear you have to work at solving them.

Let's face it if the British government had acted like the Argentinian government, we would be completely fecked, and bitching to France about Calais, which the French won from us 400yrs or so ago. Of course, we would accuse the evil French Pirates of stealing Calais, and refuse to acknowledge that the people of Calais existed or even had a right to self-determination. Then we would cry to everyone on the world stage, and say that Calais is closer to London than it is to Paris, so that proves its ours.

You see, any country in the world could use Argentinas methods, but we choose to face reality instead.

Maybe one day in the future Argentina will wake up and face reality, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Oh dear. The ordinary folk have finally noticed that the empress is wearing no clothes. Oh that isn't a pleasant thought.

She is a one trick pony and Argentinians are getting fed up with it even if they support the Malvinista claims. She has spent too much time focussing on this issue and people are starting to understand why.

They know it is a lost cause and it's importance is insignificant compared to what is happening to the economy.mshe should be focussing on that.

Yes they are too predictable. Of course itwon't register with them that Call Me Dave's popularity is far less significant in this issue than KFC's. Even if the coalition falls apart tomorrow the UK position will not change. There is cross party consensus on this in the UK, only a few independents would sell the islanders out, like George Galloways mob. If KFCs mob goes to the wall in Argentina, the policy might not change but the approach would. There has to be somebody there who can see that this issue is not important compared to the good governance of their own country.

the most important: the press! clarin and la nacion are only talking bad things about her so called “work”. there is no inflation nor lack of money or corruption. that´s only chatter, idle talk, prattle.

Its only natural that in tough times, like in 2008 before, the government's popularity will slip. But come an election and the posing of alternatives, with the right wing opposition pushing the kind of austerity that has destroyed Greece, I think the Cristinista candidate, hopefully Cristina herself, has the best chance of winning. Before then hopefully the fine tuning will have worked its way through and stabilised the economy and the government, blooded from this latest confrontation, will have further radicalised.

We're already seeing, on this thread, what a disaster it would be if Argentina wentdown, as even these polls are already being used to give support to austerity policies that actually aren't working (even the Economist is now criticising Merkel, its front page this week is a ship, already sunk under the water, and a speech bubble saying “Angela can we put on the engines yet”!)

Btw it would be interesting to see as well as her popularity right now, and in October, what was Cristina's popularity when she nationalised YPF - pretty damn high I'd imagine. More to come I hope =)

#5 What isn't a pleasant thought, Cristina being an empress or having no clothes?! I won't comment on the latter out of respect to her as a political leader and liberated woman, but the thought of Cristina the Great as an empress leaves me weak at the knees =)

#7 If the right take over, I think they'll be much more hostile to the Falklanders, much less focused on dialogue and giving peace a chance; as a Brit I'd rather we settled with Cristina in part for pragmatic reasons

Settled what with Argentina? Maybe £45 million that her country owes the UK.

That would be good, wouldn't it? It may save some people in the UK their jobs that money you know.

Apart from the money Argentina owes us, I can't think of any other outstanding issues between our 2 countries.

However, BK, you need to brace yourself because Cristina's days are numbered. If she doesn't time her escape right she might find herself hanging from one of the lamp posts in the Plaza De Mayo, as the poor downtrodden people revolt against her corrupt and thieving government.

But since you're a self confessed socialist, BK, I'm sure you'll be cheering on the revolutionaries as they string her and other members of her government up.

Yet another example of government corruption. She is now using the presidential yet (which of course is funded by tax payers money) to fly her son (King in waiting Maximo) to hospital in Bs As after knee pain. Are there not any hospitals in Santa Cruz?

We have seen the protests over the past week in Bs As and these have a histrorical habit in Argentina of marking the start of the pverthrowing of a government. This Government has got to get to grips with its finacial situation soon or they will go into recision (already predicted by economists) with huge inflation and a weak currency.

@BK the financial situation is quite simple, you cannot spend more than you earn (through taxation, export duties etc) if you have no way of borrowing from the international market (which Argentina does not) in simple terms spending more than you have is called bankcrupcy, I dont care if your a sociallist or a capatalist economics are economics and in this case and brutally simple.

@9 You forgot to mention that argieland's “constitution” limits the old slag to two terms. That's where the “grand plan” went wrong. It was supposed to be CFK then Nestor, then CFK then Nestor. Unfortunately, she killed him. Probably by letting him see her without clothes! And you're weak at the knees? It's spreading! You're already weak between the ears. Assuming that you have ears where human beings have them.
@14 Look, I'm not going to respond to your “comment”. I just want to know a simple thing, BK. Do we get fries with you?
@15 Question for all Falkland Islanders: How are your savings? When yankeeboy's predictions come true, and he seems to have a good track record, do you have the money to actually BUY argieland? Could be a solution! Just think what fun it would be to reprint all those maps, erasing “argentina” and replacing those horrible letters with “FALK LAND”. Or would you call it something different?

Where did you get the idea that there is a right-wing opposition in Argentina? There ain't no such animal. All the opposition parties are left wing, with the exception of Macri's PRO which is centre-right and has no projection in the provinces. The main opposition party is Binner's FAP which is really left-wing and opposes Kretina BECAUSE SHE IS RIGHT WING.

Kretina is in power to make money for herself and her familly, when the time comes she will escape to VEnezuela or Angola to live comfortably on her ill gotten gains. If anyone believes any different, they are idiots.

I wonder if CFK will use Maximos 'knee' pain as an excuse to send Timidman to the C24 instead of her?

But then again, this trip to the USA is her escape plan. Maybe she'll bring Maximo with her to receive 'treatment' in the USA, and then they'll both leg it with suitcases bursting at the seams full of greenbacks.

Can you imagine any other counties leader leaving their country when things are so dire to address a minor committee at the UN, which has no binding powers, and therefore of no actual use to anyone?

In my opion there is no such thing as left and right wing politics in Argentina Peronism has developed to be neither left or right wing, it has developed to encompases the entire politcal spectrum. this is what makes it higher dangerous as in Argentina (im not sure if you have ever visited or actualy lived here) to challenge the peronists is seen by many as a direct challenge on the country, you only need to look at the way the Peronist government controls the press (typical a facist policy). Let me make this very clear the peronist government is not intrested in helping the poor of Argetnina it is intrested in keeping them continually relient on government handouts so that they can secure a powerfull pool of voters who do not dare vote against peronism for the fear of losing what little they have, ( a fera installed in them by peronists). If you dont believe me look at the relashionship between Facism in Europe (Nazi Germany, Mousallinas (appologise for the spelling) Italy and Francos Spain and Juan Domingo Peron. Peros himself was a supporter of one single strong leader and clamped down on anyone who opposed him (i believe this is the deffintion of facismum). I would suggest you go back a little further in history to truelly understand what Peronisms actually is and how it was and is now a dangerous concept using smoke and mirrors to distract the population while it helps itself to the nations money (it is not a coincidence that the gold reserve was depleted by Juan and Eva Peron).

@25 What's wrong with CFK leaving the country? Historically, in various places, occasions when the “leader” is out of the country is one of the best times for a revolution or coup d'etat. Of course, there may be neither the intelligence, wit nor will to do this in argieland. Possibly supporting the view that the majority of argies, on certain subjects, have been reduced to the level of Pavlov's dogs. Unless you have hard evidence to the contrary, I suggest that the majority of the argie population have already been brainwashed into the same state as the Volkssturm and the Hitler Jugend in the last months of WW2. Whether the argies are salvageable is open to question. They may have to be viewed as subject to “collateral damage”. Consider how many “ordinary” Germans had to die protecting the nazis! Simon may be able to tell us the percentages of the guilty and the innocent. I would view anybody who does not actively resist CFK and her lackeys to be part of the guilty!

In general, I do not know how you can break the cycle of nationalism/ repression. Whereas most countries that embraced such policies have evolved (usually by economic development), Argentina seems stuck in a time-warp. The fact that the masses are inculcated from a very early age makes it even harder. Keep the majority poor, dependent, under-educated and isolated. Then add a little false hope and you have a recipe for never-ending power. Unless you turn the economic heat up too high.

I would say that there are probably 32% of the voting population who are independents, the famous 54.11% which theoretically voted for Kretina is really much nearer to 36% the great majority of whom were paid, in some form or another, for their votes.
This becomes difficult, can you blame people who have no income and no hope for taking the money for their votes and for accepting the government hand-outs that keep them alive. I don't feel that it is right to speak of guilty and innocent, my feeling is that the guilty are those that corrupt the indigent population with demagoguery and state money, in other words Kretina and her troupe of sycophants.
Until Argentina outgrows its peronist past it will never progress, it will go from one crisis to the next, and due to having vast potential wealth it will go on having it bi-polar ups and downs, just like Kretina.

Look, I heard about that story yesterday, but decided not to post it here.

However, it is one of the most bizarre stories I have ever heard. First who take their 8 year old to a pub? That in itself would be big story, but to forget your progeny?? That is outright outré. And to top it off... what about the detail entourage which I'm sure a PM would have? They also seem to have screwed up. So that is another big story. So there's three different aspects which make that news story utterly incredulous.

Add to that the FT report the UK may want to wipe out 210 billion pounds off their bonds by twicking the inflation index, the fact the UK sporting authorities played the Apartheid anthem for South Africa in an Olympic tune up event, and now the fact the French are tying them 1-1, and its been a rough week.

@43 Many families take the 8 year olds to a pub in the UK. Many pubs in the UK are more akin to family resturants and not the bars you are thinking of in Argetnina or the US.
With the bonds the difference is the UK can actualy raise bonds in its economy and therefore can make these decisons were as the Argentine economy cannot raise any money from the international credit market. As for national support I was at the Pumas game vs italy in San Juan over the weekend and a stadium of 35,000 was only 1/2 full.

Therefore if he wants to improve his presidency he needs to create jobs. the easiest method will never be passed in the US which is for US taxiation to rise especially for the extremily rich, however Republicans are against any form of taxiation, the only alternative is to drastical cut public spending which will hurt the poor hard. However, the US still has a strong economoy the dollar is still desirable and inflation is low, the debt clock is importent but the economy will not fail if a concensos is not reached. This is partly the problem of a 2 party system in which it is ahrder to gain a concensus. But this is going a little off topic now, how exacly did my comment in 41 lead to this?

As a Argetnine tax payer I have just been refused to buy a single dollar to send home in order to cover the cost of my UK bills. This government is going downhill fast, the mood here will explode very soon if this stupid ban on buying dollars is not lifted soon. We are being stopped so high ranking government officials can hoard the dollers for themselves, this is corruption at its very worst.

@63 What has So called British colonisalism of the South Atlantic got to do with this story on the sliding popularity of CFK? I havnt made any comments on this topic on Colonisalism only of the inefectivness of the current government and the dangers of Peronism. If you want to rant on about the Falklands please do it on a topic related to the dispute. I would also like the current government is stop using the Falklands as smoke and mirrors for its dangerous economic policies which are about to go into meltdown as they have absoutly no idea what they are doing. The single most importent issue in Argentina is not the return of a wind swept set of rugged islands in the South Atlantic but the need to reduce the inflation of the pesos which is about to cause a massive devaluation and a second economic collapse of the central bank and country.

If the Argentine economoy collapse it will effect 40 million. You are rather odd priorties if you believe the story about the PM is as importent but each to their own.

I know of many Brits resicent in Argentina who support the Malvinista viewpoint, do you approve of them? If so why? Firstly I am not Simon. If you believe me or not is irrelevant.

Secondly I did not call you an extremist fundamentalist in post 84. Stop putting words into my post. In fact by the very nature of your reply in post 90 you appear to consider yourself an extremist fundamentalist by accociation.

Thirdly you said “My last comment for Simon68 @57 was answered for you @84 ”

Post 84 was mine and it says:

“Point is Marcos that Argentina will one day wake up and find itself at the bottom of a very deep hole that has been dug by extremists and fundamentalists. Only those in the middle of the road with a progressive forward thinking attitude will be able to dig you out.”

Are you mind f*cking again or are you confused because you think that Simon and I are one and the same person?. The problem with a web of lies is that sooner or later you lose track of them and get trapped by them.

Is that online or are you saying I actually have to turn up, or otherwise trust you; a bit hard, as I'm not Floridan_Kirchnerist! Could it be you're just making things up?

126 British_Kirchnerist. If you live in Argentina then you know exactly where the school is, and yes turn up and ask for the records. My suspicion is that you don't even live in this country.
