Ja, Ja, this fat Cameron gives the shame!. Pretend that someone believes that all his pirate fleet sent in 1982 to defend the will of 1800 punks (after 2000 took to the island of Diego Garcia) killing many more of the “famous”-official figure-255 “british ”If there was something else behind?
He says he wants a constructive relationship and conservation of fisheries, where? in the North Sea? because of this side of the world, with our resources, we have nothing to talk to the thieves. Such claims that are idiots.

JoseM - Sorry- 255 british servicemen killed is and was the toal - plus 3 Islanders. What is the evidence of your dispute?
Fisheries - Arg and Falklands had a loint Fisheries Agreement and were working on mutual interests and conservation etc - until your Kirschener Govt walked out and scrappped them, as a result Arg now has a crap fisheries policy and yours is declining!
Ours is doing quite well and is recognized as one of the best managed in the world.

@1 you are an idiot. The falklanders stole nothing, argyland has tried to steal the falklands twice now.

The Kirchners are retards although Nestor had a few slightly more sensible people around him cristina has got rid of those slightly sensible ones and surrounded herself by yes men.

No Corrilito like in 2001? too late there's one by default happening right now. Pesos are rapidly losing value and you can't buy dollars or anything else of value. They are stealing your money now!

Then again you are probably part of the puerto madero ruling class and have your dollars/gold outside the country already.

A great symbol to show Falkland Islands' flag at PM's place. Along with the Falkland Islands 30 logo that appears on this Mercopress story page, where else could the flag and logo be shown to the public?

Pirates give back the Malvinas Islands now!!!!! They belong to Argentina!!!!!!!!! All the world know that the Malvinas Islands were stolen by these british pirates. It is not possible to maintain this colony in the XXI century. Nobody believe in these pirate´s lies. Pirates: Go back to your country with your ridiculous war vessels. UK is the country with the worst antecedents in the world as a consequence of a lot of territories stolen to different countries. Everybody knows that Self determination doesn´t apply in this case because the few people who live in the Islands were implanted by the same country which stole them to Argentina a lot of years ago. In addition UK imposed a very restrictive inmigration policy with the only objetive of maintaining these few people which were implanted which are living there. Everything described before to maintain this false argument of self-determination.

    @5

Whom do you want us to “give the islands back to”?

    1) the original French settlers from Port Louis who left in the 1760s
    2) the original British settlers from Port Egmont who left in the 1770s
    3) the original Spanish settlers who left in 1811
    4) the independent Vernet community who were actively encouraged to stay and all but four did?
    5) the 20-strong Argentine penal colonists who arrived in October 1832, murdered their Captain Esteban Mestevier, raped his wife in front of his children, and were expelled in January 1833?

All “the world knows”, hmmm, but nobody has ever done a thing about it.

Here is some advice John Farrell. Concentrate on your country, leave the islanders to theirs. Be ashamed of your countries past, the genocide of the Amerindians, the harbouring of the Nazis, the throwing of political opponents from aeroplanes, the 1982 invasion...hang your head...

John Farrel? I'm guessing you aren't from the UK, but with a name like that I guess you might have been at least Irish in origin, so where are you living? If it isn't Ireland, you're a transplanted population. Quick, to the boats, lest you be branded an effing hypocrite!!

    Question to all you RG's:

If an indigeanous tribe of Argentina, decided to claim a portion of RGland as an independant country (as your country is a product of colonialism), woudl you agree to it?

Afterall you stole another peoples land, and based on your arguemnets that the UK stole a land from you, you should have no problems giving land to those who rightfully own it.....right??????

I understand that this is unlikely to happen, but would love to hear an RG stance on this!

I loved Cristina's speech, it is very clear that her plastic surgery efforts are affecting her health. Her mental capacity is that of a child.

Can Argentina please lead by example and hand back their country to the indigenous population, oh wait, they that's not possible, they were murdered! How convenient. No wonder Argentina's crime figures are so high!

I'd encourage PM Cameron to truly militarize the islands with more men, equipment, jets, warships and submarines. Sounds like a good excuse to work up around the islands with war games in a demonstration of force.

What you going to do about it SA other than cry like little bitches? Zero because you know you're up against a fighting force willing to bring it and we all know what happened last time when you ran away or surrendered.

    Pussies.

Oh! Poor CaMoron seems he has to change medication.

He is distracting Brit attention to the Malvinas problem as he has a lot of trouble at home.

He would like to send boats and carries like Maggie had done but the problem is that there are any left due to his own cuts. Ha ha

I thought that John Major was the worse PM in UK after Maggie but CaMoron has won all titles of stupidity given in the world.

Meanwhile GB in recession again and with “financial Armageddon” coming from Spain knocking at his door.

Can be any worse? Oh yes sure can be...

There is hardly any mention of your “Malvinas” problem in the UK press or TV news.
I watched the UK news on TV this morning and madame K's whining at the C24 meeting got about 30 seconds air time.
We do not need to send any more ships down to the Falklands as our one vessel and “possible” nuclear attack sub. can quite easily deal with any threat from your forces.
As to our PM being the title of the stupidist person in the world, I reluctantly have to concede that the Argentine has beaten us to this one .
CFK?, Timmerman - they take the Gold medal for this. Pity there is not a contest for this at the Olympics. Argentina would leave the rest of the world floundering in its wake

Dany, you do realise that this isn't being reported at all in the British press. For us, it's a non-issue. Mercopress is the only english language website where people who are genuinely interested in the Falklands can get more than one or two news stories a month. It's Cristina who's doing all of the sabre rattling and making the whole thing into a massive issue. Oh, and by the way, Britain has 98 ships in its navy, not none. How many does Argentina have? 43, with only 4 of these, the Almirante Brown destroyers being of any real worth in combat. Things will soon swing even further in Britain's favour, as by 2017 we'll have a fully functioning Supercarrier flying the F-35, one of if not the best fighter jet in the world.

    @Martin Woodhead

Oh! Please don’t invade because we are still building carries. Can you wait Argies to 2020?

Martin you don’t have any effective capabilities to expel a new invasion and Argentina doesn’t need carries to trash you RN.

So stop dreaming you are in complete disaster and some subs will not help you.

    @GreekYoghurt

You will fight against Argentina not Iraq and alone.

    @BritishguyfromLondon

“Things will soon swing even further in Britain's favour, as by 2017 we'll have a fully functioning Supercarrier flying the F-35, one of if not the best fighter jet in the world.”

I guess you will not have all your stuff ready for combat until 2020 if you are lucky and that is 9 years to come.

So you are virtually hoping to have something in the future things happens in between.

But at the moment and lets say in 1 or to years you are naked to perform a major military operation on your own.

We are in 2011 and your navy can be sunk from long distance today.

@1 Do you have anything intelligent to say? Because I haven't seen any sign of it in any of your posts yet. Oh, how the standard of argie Haw Haws is coming down! But here's a thought for you. There are actions that you could take that “might” adversely affect BOT citizenry to an extent that would make Britain go to war. And the number of BOT citizens you have to adversely effect in that way is..........ONE! Think about it.
@5 Shove off. These ten words are more than you deserve.
@12 How are you going to feel when HMS Albion, Bulwark and Ocean turn up?
@20 Go on then. There's ONE destroyer there. Send your aircraft. Dauntless can kill the lot without raising a sweat. Every one will be an identified target from the moment it takes off. And they can start exploding 75 miles away. As for the subs, how do you feel about 175 cruise missiles? And the latest torpedos, of course. And the Typhoons and extra troops on their way from Britain. You've heard of our new MRTTs? Each one can carry 380 troops and their equipment AND refuel 4 Typhoons AND reach the Falkland Islands non-stop.

And, by the way, we're in 2012. Still behind the times, I see!

@20 We fought the spread of your Naziism and lack of humanity alone before in 1982, we'll fight it again alone whenever you choose to invade again [and you will, because imbeciles never learn].

Just one request, when you invade again, can you remember to bring back that Alessandro Betts chap so, maybe he can point out all the important people again and then abandon his family, wife and children again.

    Great example of morality there.

@20 Bring it on Dany. I'd hardly call fighting Argentina a 'major military operation' seeing as the Falkland Islands defences are more than enough to stop both your Navy and Air Force. But hey, I think Idlehands is right - things have been pretty dull lately and at the very least the sunken Argentine vessels would provide good diving spots. People will be getting bored of swimming round the Belgrano after all.

20 - Tomahawk cruise missles ...whoosh (fling sound) bang, thats it exploding in BA or any other military base in RG land. Subs will fill the hole in expeditionary forces until our 2 super carriers. Put to sea and the RG fishing fleet navy will be sunk, Aircraft will be shot down by our fighters and superb new destroyer. So nothing to discuss really , monies in place. Dont know about financial armagedon!! think your 25 % inflation, lack of gas to warm your people, and currency fiasco would indicate RG's are foooooked.

I wonder what they promised Quisling aka Betts, to get him to betray his family and neighbours the way he did. Maybe they promised him, governership? something like that. How does a person who has lived among people as a neighbour or friend, betray them to a military junta, he must have known he would be exposing them to abuse, torture or even death. He is up there with the worse of them, Arnold, Quiling, Joyce.

Dany Berger, I see you're advocating a little war with the UK, that would be fun wouldn't it. Now I suppose you will be in the forefront of this invasion, leading from the front like a brave Argentine soldier?

Think about it for a moment Dany, imagine what it would be like, do you remember the footage of the Welsh Guards at Bluff Cove? Do you remember the burns and the blood, that is what is waiting for you on your landing craft, but not near the shore, on the high seas. Think about it Dany, that would be you and your comrades screaming with fear and pain, and for what? To stand on a piece of land that you think is yours, but isn't. Bit stupid, no?

But lets suppose your landing craft got past the jet fighters from MPA and HMS Dauntless, and the possible submarine. You've made it to the shore, unscathed, to be met by 1000 regular army and/or marine troops, PLUS 250 very angry FIDF troops who are all out to get YOU Dany, they'll all be aiming at YOU as you come out of that cold South Atlantic water. Think about that, Dany, as they open fire on you and those bullets rip into you. And for what, Dany? To stand on a piece of land that you think is yours and isn't. Bit stupid, no?

But guys, you are talking about the infamous Dunni-Burger, the man who (he says) has fired one of your countries fully automatic FALs but never admitted to hitting anything with it! The person who says there are 3 million civilian armed fighters waiting to kill the British troops!

He is obviously a man of complete stupidity. It will NEVER come to troops on Argentina soil: it will be land attack missiles, launched from a submarine or surface ship. Destruction of the Patagonian oilfields, the hydro-electric installations and main civilian services depots such as transport, etc. Loss of life, yes, but not British lives. Complete devastation for BsAs supplies. Complete chaos for the government and civilian population alike.

Carlos Escude warned of this in his masterpiece The Case Of Argentina which SHOULD BE COMPULSORY READING for your children, NOT the fairy tales about the Falklands (there are STILL no Malvinas).

Anyone who follows the Dunni-Burger aggressive line is going to regret it.

We have a Destroyer which is more than capable of taking down your more modern fighters thanks to the SAMPSON radar system. The fighter jets on the ground will run rings around the older fighters from the sixtes. As for the navy, you only have four ships that are of any worth in combat - the Almirante Brown 'destroyers' (your military calls them destroyers but they're smaller than Britain's frigates). The Dauntless should have little trouble with them thanks to its large gun and the Lynx helicopter armed with Sea Skua missiles (Then again, the Type-45's will likely undergo a refit soon to fit-out the anti-ship missile systems which are currently not in use). And if the Dauntless does need help, there's a high probability that there's a Trafalgar-class submarine hanging around in the vicinity armed with Spearfish missiles so fast and quiet that the first thing your vessels will know about it is the large hole in their hulls. What I said Dany, was not ignorance - it was merely a statement of fact.

P.S I never said anything about fighting Brazil - they wouldn't be stupid enough to launch an attack alongside Argentina (Brazil, unlike Argentina, still has a decent international reputation to protect).

@55 Here's a tip, smartass. For a Vanguard SSBN sailing to the east or west of London, Buenos Aires is WITHIN RANGE of a Trident D5 missile. It/they will arrive approximately 30 minutes after firing. The missiles CANNOT be intercepted by any known means due to their terminal velocity and the material from which they are constructed. And don't make the common mistake that Britain cannot fire without United States permission. We “might” consult. But we don't have to ask and we don't need permission. WE don't NEED to SEE. And you won't be able to. Now laugh yourself silly over THAT. You too can be a shadow etched onto a wall.
And BritishguyfromLondon is accurate. HMS Dauntless, by itself, can locate, target and DESTROY more targets than 5 Type 42 destroyers operating together. The targets can be aircraft or missiles. Dauntless can draw a circle around itself 150 miles in diameter in which nothing airborne can live. If there is a Trafalgar class submarine in the area, it carries 30 weapons. Before it sails off to “somewhere” to be reloaded. Those 30 weapons? Well, in your part of the world, it doesn't really need torpedoes. But it “might” carry 5 Spearfish heavyweight 150km/h torpedoes. The rest will be Tomahawk Land Attack cruise missiles. Each missile is a 450 kg warhead plus any unused fuel. There is no record of any Tomahawk missile ever being intercepted. In addition, Typhoon aircraft will arrive equipped with Storm Shadow and Brimstone air to surface and Sidewinder, AMRAAM and ASRAAM air to air missiles. You remember the Sidewinder from 1982, don't you? Our Harriers used them a lot. The AMRAAMs and ASRAAMs are later and better. Watch out for the ones that are “beyond visual range”. Out of consideration for Uruguay, shall we let your war(snigger)ships clear the River Plate before we sink them?

And, like Britishguy, this is not ignorance. These are FACTS.

I read “The case of Argentina” by Carlos Escude by googling it.
It was heavy going but does explain a lot about the Argentine mind set.
    Delusion comes to mind.
As the Jesuits said-“ give me the child and he will be mine for life”

I would like our Argie “friends” to read this in its entirety and comment rationally on its contents without the usual banal Jajaja PIRATS LOSERS ETC.

    I’m so impressed.

I don’t want to embarrass you in a pubic forum but you don’t give me other option mate.

Media propaganda to make you feel better and powerful and advanced nation.

    Do you really believe that?

A micro sat with 20 year old tech like any uni can make for experimental purposes costing 12MP.

Hello XXI century now none needs even to get closer to 200KM to hit your floating stuff from a plane while watching your face on TV screaming WTF was that?

Get real please because on this days floating stuff are not safe anyway they can be sunk from 1000 km away.

So can we talk about something you can really talk about please?

    For example kebabs?

How much are costing them in London now?

    @Conqueror

You are so ignorant and stupid that really don’t worth to answer you.

Write your idea to your MoD and wait for their answer why you cannot do that and what would be the consequences to little poor Britain after doing such move.

    Will you please?

If you don't believe Conqueror you are in for a nasty suprise, as he hasn't mentioned that in addition to our hardware we still have Tornado GR4's.

I know that Argentina will soon be frustrated enough to launch a Super Etendard attack on targets around the Falkland Islands, and they will join the rest of the Argentine air force from 1982 currently decorating the sea bed, or Falkland Islands countryside as tourist attractions. Regardless of whether we have a sub in the S. A. or not the Etendard airbase will be no more in less than three days, plus any airbases within Tornado range from the Falkland Islands.
There is nothing your Latin American buddies can do about it either.
The Argentines were scared of a prince in an unarmed yellow helicopter, so they are going to shit thermselves stupid if we send aircraft that aren't painted yellow.

Meanwhile back on earth, there is no possibility of S America never mind Argentina winning a military confrontation with Britain.

And the rest of S America know this, and with the possible exception Venezuela they are not going to fight the British for you.

For us kebabs are cheap, although for the same amount money you will soon be able to buy a suburb of BA, or a chunk of Patagonia.

@60 Pot, kettle, black. No answer then? There are already MoD plans that embody all the elements I have mentioned. I can't tell you how I know, because then I'd have to have you “eliminated”. By the way, have you checked around you when you're walking down the street? That guy, 50 metres behind you. Is he one of yours, or one of OURS? Do you know what a SAS operator looks like when they aren't in combat gear? Or the SBS? Or the SIS? I mean, you do “know” that YOU and most of your compatriots that come on here have been potential “targets” for some time, don't you? Why do you think we have GCHQ?

@62 Yes, it's called a Chinook. Other modern elevators used= Merlins and the slightly older Puma. Unfortunately not an Apache, Prince Harry flies those. None of them painted yellow.

The Argentines were scared of a prince in an unarmed yellow helicopter, so they are going to shit themselves stupid if we send aircraft that aren't painted yellow. However they will not know they have been until the UK tarmac stripping service has departed.
But hey, you have Super Etendards from the 1980s right? And when KFC gets bored with 'give peace a chance,' her salad dodging son, and Timmerman will persuade her to use the SE's as a last saloon chance in her spaghetti western.

Cue permanent removal of threat to Falkland Islanders.

    @Pugol-H

    Ha ha Pugol Ask Sandy.

“If the Falklands are ever captured by Argentina it will be impossible to win them back, says Woodward. “We could not retake the Falklands. We could not send a task force or even an aircraft carrier. If we had been in this state in 1982, the Falklands would be the Malvinas. We rely on sending reinforcements by air, but that would be impossible if we lost control of the airfield at Mount Pleasant.”

“If the Argentines had held out for another week on land then we would probably have lost it. Our people were in the open. It was snowing. The sheer wear and tear of two months at sea in vile conditions meant our ships were wearing out. The offshore group was on its last gasp. It was as close as that.”

    Admiral Sir John Forster Woodward.

How are you going to take control of Mt.Pleasant airfield?
I presume the UK troops guarding it will roll over and surrender to the heroic Argentinian heroes. Dream on !

The Argentinians did not hold out another week. They caved in and ran for Port Stanley. They then had the sense to surrender, were treated humanely by the British victors, fed clothed and repatriated in luxury vessels back to the Argentine where they were given an ecstatic welcome by your government.

Sorry, but I do not understand your question. Whom do you mean by they

The premise was “if” but it did not happen.

Yes, the Admiral is quite correct in saying that , at present, the UK could not mount the same military campaign as it did in 1982.
So, the alternative is to build a large airfield (done), keep a garrison there to protect the Islands from another attack by Argentina(done) and bring in reinforcements by air. At present, Argentina does not have the military capacity to take and hold Mt. Pleasant airfield. It would be a suicide mission even if they managed to get there.

The UK is at present downsizing the Royal Navy. Ships are being taken out of commission and personnel are being made redundant.
The Admiral is trying to make a case for his service by making hypothetical pronouncements on any possible future actions. In effect he is trying to make a case for the RN to be upgraded and excluded from defence cuts.

Military commanders are nearly always trying to fight any new war on the same basis as the old ones.

As to the rest of the posting, I have no idea what it is about.
