And the hauliers will pass on the increasing costs to their customers - which is pretty much everyone as there's little alternative for cargo in Argentina.

    Chronic inflation aka Death Spiral.

    “Entourage of Liars” spot on.
25.5% is less than the predicted 34% inflation, vicious circle.

They're not done yet. CFK blinked and the Unions are in control now. There hasn't been a ruler in 70 yrs that wasn't back by the unions. She just lost all of her power.

Well done Cristina for giving a fair deal for the unions. All this “blinked” and “lost power” stuff is rubbish as she's done the right thing, and the thing any neoliberal takeover that Moyano's adventurism risks would certainly not have done, in agreeing to the workers legitimate rights. Moyano seems to be as cynical and corrupt a politician as can be, and old style pure power Peronist adn not a left progressive like Cristina and Nestor, and is now trying to milk this for everything he and HIS coterie of liars can steal. I hope this shameless opportunistic attempt by an old Lopez Vega minion to outflank one of his Dirty War victims to her left is seen by the workers of Argentina for what it is and he gets kicked out on his arse

Not sure if a 25.5% increase staggered over the next 9 months is anything more than a token gesture with current real inflation. Will it actually help the workers?(after all the gesturing, real people will suffer if this goes on, not the government with their off-shore dollar accounts)

If CFK thinks she looks weak, will she over-react? Will the unions use this deal to push for too much? Calling the situation unstable is a bit of an understatement.

Like posters on other threads have pointed out, it just takes one mistake during a demonstration or one over zealous statement on either side and this could get very ugly, very quickly.

Doubt it mate only person out on arse will be your tissue fantasy. Why do you think people are acting like this, let me tell you she is ripping your country off left right and chelsea and someone has grown a pair and challenged her, now she and the rest are falling apart. One union, next two unions then shit hits fan bye bye tissues, she relaxes on beach with millions of US DOLLARS whilst Tinman fetches her drinks and takes Max to the toilet. 30% inflation, no dollars,Farmers up in arms, oil companys, tanker drivers, mines, no military to speak of etc etc need i go on. Hey makes David Cameron sound like an Angel. She has just given in to a Union and they want more can't you see that, end of the road, helicopters rotors are turning.

    if they get a 25.5% increase ,
    and inflation is 30%
is this not a pay drop of 5%

    just a thought

Even worse than that. If inflation is in high twenties now and they only get 12.5% in July, they're 10% down immediately.

Even if they get the full 25.5% by 2013 and inflation is predicted for 34% or above then, still 10% down.

Whatever happens, there are going to be some bad feelings between workers and government. I don't think they can afford even the first rise without stealing.....sorry.......“expropriating” another company to gobble up the cash and their books. Telephonica, maybe. They've already fined them to start the destabilisation.

    9 Briton

Yes it is a pay decrease but it's a pay decrease the economy can't afford.

Could one of the people on here who keeps telling us that the UK's finances are in a bigger mess than Argentina's please explain why inflation is so high? Why is Argentina's credit rating is so low? Why are the unions all striking? Why are the farmers so angry?

I know there are strikes in the UK too so save your breath on that one. Doctors today, train and bus drivers tomorrow, most likely more next week... but we know that and we know that it's because of the economic downturn and the austerity measures the UK has little choice but to implement. All of the pro-Argentine people on here assure us repeatedly though that the Argentine economy is strong and growing and the global downturn hasn't affected the country. So if that's true, why all this mess.

Why did CFK have to change her plans? Unless of course that she was in a huff over the debacle that was her attempt to hijack the G20. Actually, that could be it. She did storm out of another such attempt earlier this year.

Did the tin man really give the forked fingers to someone at the G20? WTF?

    Chuckle chuckle.

She can do what she likes and we'll still be here when she's living in the Caribbean or somewhere else, hiding from the catastrophic events that are about to cause her Government's implosion. Hey! She could come down here. We'd give her a small plot somewhere.

Somewhere up East would suit her.

    No problem.

It's crappy, they say we'll give you a raise........oh, by the way, it will take 9 months to get up to it, we're just telling you the whole amount now to try and placate you cause we don't really give a sh*te about you and just wan you to shut up. Just another thing, we probably can't afford it anyway, so what the hell, you can have a Ferrari to go with that..........as long as you export goods of similar price first.

You can guarantee one thing, the way the CFK government handle anything important. And that is BADLY.

For those that follow the Peso Leak rate is $6.70!! My guess it will be 8 by eom July. There is no way the gov't can maintain the variable between the real (leak) rate and the gov't mandated rate.
These poor saps are getting poorer by the day, the rest of the world is getting farther and farther away.
Imports are going to skyrocket in Peso pricing!! What do you do when syringes aren't made in the country or cancer, diabetes, HIV medicine...rut ro oh and the biggy nat gas...brr

Gentelmen, our problems are peanuts compared to your problems.

“The credit ratings agency Moody's has downgraded 15 banks and financial institutions”

UK banks downgraded include Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays and HSBC.

In the US, Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan are among those marked down.

Marcos - epic fail by you trying to change subject there. They are still rated higher that any Argie institution. Such a downgrade has minimal effect on these banks as the large financial houses still have to put their money somewhere and they are certainly not going to put it in Argentina.

I dare say that fuel shortages and civil disorder across all sections of your society are bigger problems than three letters that have no effect on the capital or liquidity of a banks assets.

#11 “Unless of course that she was in a huff over the debacle that was her attempt to hijack the G20”

What debacle at the G20, I've just checked and theres actually no article on here about her contribution at the G20. Will have to google it but I doubt it was a debacle, maybe she told some home truths that embarrased the pro-austerity leaders. And yes, DOCTORS are on strike in the UK, and being attacked by the right wing press like any other group on strike would be, isn't that a sign of how bad things have got for Cameron?

#20 But those 3 letters, that you now say don't matter, were Cameron's justification for the cuts!

BK - Where did i say they don't matter? I said they had no effect on capital or liquidity of the banks involved. Learn to read before vomiting a half cocked retort.

I think you just answered why she left in a huff yourself. As you say “theres actually no article on here about her contribution at the G20”.

If things are so bad for Cameron but so good for your plastic queen, why such a huge difference in indicators like inflation and credit rating?

    Impotent Argentina.

@9 I don't think you can call it a pay “drop” if they haven't got it yet. The question in my mind is: will it actually be 25.5%? For example, if it's cumulative it could be more like 27.5%.
@15 You've got no chance of her coming there as an individual. Don't you know she's been checking out suitable palaces for years?
@19 Thing is, it's your COUNTRY that gets downgraded. Not just a few financial institutions. Go on, for once in your life, admit you're in the sh*te and you don't know how to get out. But I reckon that if you start by removing all the export taxes, you might start to get somewhere. After all, the export taxes are just CFK's piggy bank!
@21 As I have pointed out, argieland doesn't get to go to G20 because it meets the criteria and because its a top economy. It gets to go because it doesn't meet the criteria and isn't a top economy. Unlike Britain. The idea was to have one of the shmucks there to get an idea of how G20 plans and decisions might affect the lower orders. So she probably had to just sit there while the big boys talked and it went straight over her head. Difficult to have a debacle if she keeps here stupid trap shut. Although her obvious intentions with Cameron, and what actually happened, must count as a debacle. Basically, she got treated like an under-achieving and slightly stupid schoolgirl. And our DOCTORS? Well, no society is perfect and it appears that all of 8% didn't go to work. Now, what percentage of your teamsters went on strike? What percentage of your dock workers went on strike? What percentage of your farmers went on strike?

Now don't you worry. The house of cards is crumbling around your ears, but everything will be OK. CFK says so, doesn't she? Of course, she's got a lot more of your money than you have. And she still looks like an over-the-hill tart!

One: the wage increase has been given by the Cargo Transport Federation, not by Kretina.
Two: Less than a year ago Kretina was lauding Moyano as a progressive union leader, Moyano hasn't changed his stance since then, Kretina has.
Three: Moyano was never a Lopez Rega follower.

I certainly don't support Moyano and his familly, they are as corrupt as your “queen”, but he has kept faith with the workers which Kretina has definetly not done.
