While Paraguay could prosper outside of Mercosur they are landlocked and reliant on these other states.

Mercosur taking the opportunity to make Venezuela a full member was a disgrace and a mistake. However it could turn out for the best as it will probably cause the collapse of this corrupt political union that was designed to be an economic union.

Wouldn't it be fun if OAS responded? Something on the lines of “The OAS noted the statements of Mercosur and Unasur and decided that, rather than follow their example, it would act democratically.”

OAS will certainly act more rationally than mercosur or unasur.

Interesting though that Brazil still won’t let this go, aspects of this we have yet to learn, I think.

Patriota has to protect his political position and his job.
His Presidenta is not pleased with him, and so here he tows her party line.

So what is her reasoning for this stance?

Is this just because they don’t like the idea a Presidente can be got rid of so easily?

    Or something else driving it!

Patriota´s absent of diplomatic skills are obvious. Both Insulza, OAS Secretary and Jacobson, US official, have said that ”there is no reason to suspend Paraguay from OAS”, they never suggested Mercosur or Unasur to reconsider Paraguay´s suspension from those organizations, why? because they are respectful and recognize the boundaries of their diplomatic offices, something Patriota doesn´t seem to understand.

But his words come to show how irrelevant Unasur and Mercosur´s opinions are for the rest of the nations in the AOS.

If the triumvant of Brasil, Uruguay and the despotic Argentina had not rushed to damn, Paraguay would not have rushed their vote.

This has been stated by the government of Paraguay right from the beginning.

Your Comment#4 But which of them “really” supported getting tough on the coup and which of them “actually” didn't? We've had articles saying both on here!

I am Brazilian, and this man does not speak for me. Many, many people here (i.e., in Brazil) see him as nothing but a pompous clown. He looks very small in that ministry. “Lord of the flies” immediately comes to mind.

Which is first & bigger ...??
Unasur & Mercosur involve just some OAS members...and they must have respect for the opinion of the others out of those bluff gangsters blocks....They have showed that they are stupid & arrogants being more illegal than that sued country.

They should have impeached CFK instead. She has done more damage to her country than all others before her. That turkey necked vulture belongs in prison with all her accomplices, including the vice president, Hebe and the Schocklender's, Imagine them being released on 40 thousand pesos bail? Cry for Argentina, for this time the citizens are just as guilty as the administration, because they have their heads up their asses.

Don't waste your breath: South Americans have ALL learned lessons from the socio-economic mess which is now sucking the U.S. and its NATO“Partners” into a hole, where possibly in the future real internal domestic problems could propitiate a “roll-back” of the persistent “partnership” of the U.S. and its NATO“Partners” by means of its “native” de facto political agents in South America. Notice the flawless relationship today between Chavez-Venezuela and Santos-Colombia (which Uribe as U.S. agents tries to sabotage). This is the result of Nestor Kirchner's and Lulas “talking” to both the Venezuelans and Colombians: They both will remain neighbours forever, while the U.S. and its
“NATO”Partners may not have the stamina (economic and socio-political) to maintain their still functioning control over South America, as the events in Paraguay just have indicated, which according to Samuel Pinheiro Guimaraes were welcomed by the U.S., Spain, Vatican, Germany. Germany is omnipresent with political agents throughout South America as the proxy “Trojan horse” of the U.S. - South Americans are always wary of the “Anglos” and still have to be alerted to “cuidado con los alemanes”!!! (You read it here first!)

What type of medication are you on as it clearly isn't helping?

I won't even bother to respond to this drivel.

No wonder many of the countries in South America are as fcuked up as they are, if you are typical of the majority.
