What a revolting smug grin KFC has. She looks very pleased with herself, the plot to shaft Paraguay and get the clown Chavez into her socialist club worked as planned. I predict that smile won't last long.

“The five-member Mercosur standing tribunal is made up of a member from Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and two from Brazil”

Not very fair in my opinion, outvoted 4 to 1 at the start, Arg, Ur & Br are not exactly going to go against their own decition. Hmmm Latino politics never cease to amaze.

I cannot wait to see der präsident Hugo Chavez joining the MERCOSUR table.
He surely will have a lot of ideas to contribute to the M club.

Ah! Mecosur from Antatica to the Caribbean cost.

    Can someone ask for more?

    I guess not.

I just only wait for jealous Britons falling faster to poverty and stagnation posts. Cri... cri....

    Anybody there?

The whole World knows it was a conspiracy to admit Venezuala!

Mersosur and its credibility is doomed if the tribunal does not rule in Paraguay's favour.

BRAZIL show know better than to be part of this charade!

@3 WE're still here. Still big and bad and nasty. So, it's to be totalitarian dictatorship between two places you can't even spell.

If you were to keep up to date, you would have noticed that Britain's economic situation is starting to improve AGAIN. Although it never had any chance of becoming anywhere near as bad as argieland's. How's the 30% inflation going? Is mummy still paying your bills? How about the fuel shortages? What about the 20% fall in the soy harvest? How about the 20% fall in the amount of wheat that can be planted? Gonna get a little bit cold and hungry in a while. Looking forward to argie slappers slapping themselves and each other in a pitiful attempt, not to stay warm, to stay alive. Would you like some British aid? No problem. WE'll pop by, execute every member of your joke “government” and take control of your pitiful, backward, criminal cuntry. Perhaps, and I only say perhaps, in a hundred years or so, we might be able to teach you to be people instead of two-legged animals. It's true that it's a bit of a long shot. But it's what WE more or less achieved with India. Much like argieland when we got there. A bunch of self-indulgent, power-mad dictators and the servile, untouchable, poverty-stricken majority. But, by the time we'd “finished” even their independence movement was conducted largely democratically. You too could benefit in the same way. OR, if it seems you are beyond help and hope, we could eradicate the lot of you!

Cristina Fernandez said that the region “will fight tooth and nail” in support of peoples’ sovereign decisions when voting in direct reference to the Paraguayan situation.

Excpet for the rights of Venezulas people to a governemnt which respects international human rights. Human rights watch published a report yesterday in which they cite the various tactics used by the Chavez government to cement his control of the country.

    http://www.hrw.org/reports/2012/07/17/tightening-grip-0

In addition the inclusion of Venezula is ilegal under the consituntion of Mercsour. All full members must ratify the inclusion of new nations and regardless of wether they are suspensed or not Paraguay is a full member and this status cannot be removed.

I believe the new government in Paraguay will see how it has been treated by its “Allies” who have shown their contempt for Paraguays consititutional right to impeach a preisdent and will not fully engage with Mercsour in the future. I belive the EU mission is fostering closer ties with Parguay in a hope of securing a new trade partner allied to the European model and therefore secure an ally in SA.

The inclusion of Venuzual will only hurt Mercsocur intrests in North American and Europe and leave it worse off overall. Althought now there will be some state funded jollies to Caracus for the other nations.

The problem with Paraguay is, although it is legal the political judge, you cant give 2 hours a president to make his defence and resolve such an important subject in two hours. If someone steals a chicken here, will have a much more long process.
Lugo also accepted the political resolution so as not to make a fracture in people, so I find it logical a suspension till the elections that are going to be in six months. Its an impasse.

As Chávez said the other day it is now a military pact, not a trading bloc.

@ 16 Simon..that's an interesting observation. With Chavez being prone to making ridiculous threatening statements it will be interesting to observe how KFC's stance on 'demilitarisation of the South Atlantic' may alter if she feels the wind is blowing in the right direction (and there is liable to be plenty of wind if Chavez has anything to do with it!)

@3 DanyBerger - hey now you are being mean - leave it out! You know that the bit of the Antarctic that points in your general direction belongs to us..what with all the things you're saying anyone would think that you don't like us..

What law makes The inclusion of Venezuela “ilegal”, according to you?
Mercosur is a trade bloc that works on agreements, not laws. They agreed on suspending Paraguay and including Venezuela. A llorar al cuartito :)

@18 Your stupidity doesn't surprise me. Most latams are as thick as 15 short planks cut in half and piled on top of each other. You, however, are in the supa-latam class. Can't tell how many planks, but you have reached the “impenetrable”. Possibly the “black hole” of intelligence. Where anything semi-intelligent can be sucked in but nothing comes out. And it is certain that nothing of any moment comes out of you.
The Treaty of Asuncion makes the admission of Venezuela illegitimate. Admission of a new member requires the agreement of all full members. And thus, once again, you prove yourself to be less able in the “brain” department than a louse. Although doubtless there are physical similarities.

    What a liar.
This old man needs to stop dreaming and face the facts.
The UK PM Camoron announced austerity in the UK until 2020.
My USA and Argentina are having bad economic times and is unkown if the argentine leader and “food stamps” US president Obama can handle the bad economic times. Lets wait and see.
Here in the USA the postal services owned by the federal goverment have a deficit of U$S 8 Billons dollars. Who caused such deficit? No one knows.

What happenned in P. was legal but desprolijo or not serious in a democracy. In Arg once we had 5 presidents in a week, very desprolijo. Then we went to elections and all got its democratic way again. P. has not been expelled, thats important.
Venezuela, I dont like Chávez, too much time in power (with democratic elections), but the country is an important one to be part of Mercosur. Much more trade between south america. Much more union between us, its a benefit for all. Look at europe, all united in economy with the EU, on the militarily with NATO, etc. Its important for regions to be more and more united. And been able to take our own decissions, resolve our own problems, less dependant of foreign interventions. Hope Africa can become stronger on that.
Only P. voted against its entrance. But if three countries over one democratically chooses Venezuela incorporation I (a common person, with zero knoledge in politics, laws and so) find it possible and a benefit for us.

Very true. But he has to run the country for his own people NOT the Argentineans.

I had thought, when I first came to Uruguay to live, some 15 months ago now that Pepe was making all the smart moves.

However, I do not know what has changed but things are getting out of hand with Argentina fcuking our economy up almost as much as their own. No surprise that they have reneged on an agreement to accept 4,000 vehicles from Uruguay per year. This breach of agreement has resulted in many hundreds of lay-offs and Chery are contemplating closing their factory.

And Pepe, advised by a 'close friend' of The Mad Bitch Of Argentina, who happens to be the Uruguayo Ambassador to BsAs no less, is being smoozled into following her skirts.

That is why I, and many Uruguayo say he is pussy-whipped.
