”Venezuela to Mercosur! This is really GREAT! A new Venezuela! A new South America! New Geopolitics!”

Be even better when 'Dead Man Walking' looses the 'Walking' bit.

    End of the year!

Inclusion of Venezuela will be ILLEGAL and ILLEGITIMATE. What is the “real” attraction of Venezuela? Chavez has virtually destroyed its economy. CFK is trying to do the same to argieland. Presumably on the basis that peasants (the poor) can't fight back. Mujica is a cypher. A frightened, senile old man. Is Rousseff acting intelligently or being held back by “wiser heads”?

Chavez´s going to invite Dilma and Cristina to join him at his great Aló Presidente shows! They will talk for hours, days and the whole audience will be dressed in red, only red, and they will applaud endlessly.

“We have to be clear that the only potential enemies we may have at present are the USA, Britain, and their possible allies. Taking advantage of the removal of Paraguay for the inclusion of Venezuela - was a master-move!” Col. ret. Gelio Fregapani, until 2008, Brazil's Director of Combined Intelligence in the Amazon-area states. Published in DEFESANET and his own blog ARCO DE FRONTEIRAS. --- Brazil military and nationalist-conservatives do not subscribe to the socio-economic policies of Venezuala's government - but they see an armed and independent Venezuela as the “first line of defense” for a potential problem with the U.S. and NATO - in future times. Brazil former Defense Minister Nelson Jobim (a conservative) to other defense ministers in South America in 2011: “Our subcontinent will be threated over our resources during the next FIFTY years. We need a ”dissuasive“ capacity against threats from outside our sub-continent!” --------------------------------------------------- With other words - the struggle to keep the U.S. and NATO out of South America and out of the South Atlantic - is a generational struggle which will stretch beyond our time. It is possible that the U.S. may have serious domestic problems after 2016 - due to unsolvable socio-economic differences in U.S. society. Remember, on the ship “Aurora” started the revolution by sailors in Russia 1917. Perhaps the “operation” by “Bat-Man” in “Aurora”/Colorado/USA 2012 - will be seen by future historians as signifcant signal that pointed at future events!

@13 That's not nice. My mother died several years ago in a care home that was very expensive. Nor, as a law enforcement officer, was I ever a “sissy”. I'm happy that I managed to put an adequate number of latinos from LatAm behind bars during my career. Do you need to believe that everyone is a motherless, illegitimate, time-wasting s.o.b. such as yourself in order to justify your use of precious oxygen?
@14 Is that supposed to be a serious comment? Did you read that Brazil has a defence agreement with Britain? Let's be quite clear. If the U.S.A. decided to go south, there is nothing in LatAm to stop it. Just for a start, the US armed forces could put 3,522 ground attack and combat aircraft in the air. I'll leave you to go through the armed forces of the LatAm countries and work out how many similar aircraft they could deploy. Helicopters and UAVs are not counted. Want to go on to naval forces? There are currently 11 aircraft carriers, 22 cruisers, 61 destroyers, 29 frigates, 2 littoral combat ships, 9 amphibious assault ships, 2 amphibious command ships, 9 amphibious transport docks, 12 dock landing ships, 53 attack submarines, 14 ballistic missile submarines, 4 guided missile submarines, 14 mine countermeasures ships, 11 patrol boats. The US Army has a total strength of 1,129,283 personnel together with their equipment and then you can add the 240,827 of the US Marines and their equipment. I reckon that, unless it was being “nice”, the US could roll over LatAm without breaking step. And have enough capability left to tell China and Russia to keep their noses out! Add in NATO forces and it could be all over in a week. There is no “struggle” to keep the US and NATO out of South America. For the most part, neither “want” to be in South America. Leave “our” territories alone and we'll leave you alone. And try reality!

    14. Wow lots of words that I think were meant to be serious but come on! You are not a very good study of current events or history for that matter.
I hear we are looking at ramping up our Base in Paraguay. I'm sure with the horrible and illegal treatment by Brazil and Argentina they're looking for a little safety of having a large US Base intheir territory, good for the economy and great for their own defense. Think of how quick we could bomb BA if we wanted. Would that be less than 10min by air? Think CFK could scramble the crop dusters in time?

”Again drunk mate? Surely, as you correct others on grammar, you meant 'drunk again'?

Your facile comment reminds me of a retort given by the famous Churchill, you know, the alcoholic with anxiety syndrome who kicked the shit out of you Kraut predecessors, on being abused by 'Bessie Braddock' a rather grotesque Labour MP in the 1950s in the House of Commons.

She said one evening during a late sitting 'you are drunk', to which Churchill said 'and you, madam, are ugly. But I will be sober in the morning'.

In your case replace 'ugly' with 'stupid', you can leave the madam as I think it fits.

@21 I don't think you really understand. What we really want you to do is die. But being kindly and considerate people who find it difficult to believe that there aren't 5 or 6 argies who might be worth saving. Therefore we proffer our hard-won knowledge and experience. Can't make you take it so we comfort ourselves with the thought that, when you've turned yourself into another Zimbabwe, we can laugh uncontrollably whilst trying to get out the words “Told you so!”
@27 Then you seem to be “home” a lot. How much is your “company” paying you for your one hour working day?
@28 “Modern English, sometimes described as the first global lingua franca, is the dominant language or in some instances even the required international language of communications, science, information technology, business, seafaring, aviation, entertainment, radio and diplomacy.” So, if you have no interest, you are obviously one of the intellectually sub-normal. But then we knew that!
@31 What a pity he's going to Brazil. If he was staying in Venezuela, we could have had some Royal Navy vessels fire an appropriate salute. We could send HMS Diamond, HMS Triumph and HMS Vengeance. Boom, boom, boom!
@32 If you check out events, I think you'll find Uruguay was against it. Unfortunately, when it came to the moment, Pepe the Plonker had to have discussions with the Wicked Witch of the South and Dilma the Guerrilla.

But we should be talking about Chavez and how glad we southamerican are for the integration of Venezuela to mercosur this move was long over due, since it was clear that Paraguay was acting against the unification of mercosur and interfering with the progress of the boock, Paraguay should be allowed back without voting power and as a observer rather then a voting member while we let Venezuela vote to see if Paraguay can ever comeback.
