I am not sure how this got onto the FI page as FI are not mentioned but I am sure that the latest Argentine moves against UK/FI flagged vessels will square the circle.

“the perception that Chile is a serious country, a country in which they can rely”.

This just about sums it up for me. Although Chile do no bare the cross that Argentina does.

no doubt Argentinas cruise industry will shrink 30% due to a bad case of “cutting ones nose off to spite the face” , theres more than one port in the sea!

    @2

And that's where you miscalculate your knowledge. Argentina's cruise industry will not shrink, UK operated cruise business will shrink.

    Why?

People that come to South America for cruises, which is a minority of the business compared to European and Caribbean cruises, don't exactly expect their cruise lines to “skip” Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Puerto Madryn and the Valdez Peninsula, Ushuaia, because the UK government has problems with Argentina.

They expect the cruise to lower the British flag, put up a French flag, or German, or Spanish flag, get on with it and give them what they paid for. Not to mention most people that travel to South America tend to be world savvy and not jingoist blownhorns spewing talking points, so they generally won't side with the UK 100% (though they may agree, they won't hold the belligerent and hateful views of most of you here).

In short, if cruise ships did ever skip Argentina and only did Brazil and Chile, you would see massive drops in people booking such packages. They will seek other ways to see whatever they want to see.

So what is there to see in BA....?
La Boca.... watch you don't get robbed getting there or away...
    A cementery.... wow...
One fancy shopping arcade with a mural on the roof..... good oh...
and of course one can visit the Maldives memorial..... take care no-one sticks a knife in you....
OK TiT over to you... what else does BA have to offer??

Punters on the cruise liners down there are looking to see the Falklands, South Georgia, Chilean Antarctica and the Chilean channels......

    suck it down sunshine....

3 You're trying to second guess what we like and failing miserably. I have no idea whether Chile or Brazil will continue to take Argentina's cruise business but I know that visiting, what is presumably your top attraction “Buenos Aires” isn't considered that important.

As an American I disagree with most all of the Argentines in this blog. But really, there is nothing in BA to see? The architecture, museums, opera house....even the old theater converted in a bookstore on Santa Fe. The stores in Puerto Madero are cool. I've been to La Boca, Carminito ST.....the shops are great. I'll give you that I will pass going there at night, but then again I would not walk around in Harlem at night in NYC. If you don't know what to do in BA it's because:
1- You have never been there
2-you are a pub crawler seeking a Guiness
3-You lack culture, because it is there in BA
    4-All of the above
I love it everytime I am in BA. I have issues....most are cultural so I learn to adapt. The natural course of event will lead to change in Argentina in due time.

I don't think catering to the top 10% wealthiest travelers could be more lucrative then fishing Antartica. With Chinas consumer demand growing and the war against hunger being lost in many nations. It is a sure thing to bid on fishing over tourism. 90% of the population has to eat while not even 10% gets to travel on a ship. You guys are the brains here why doesn't anyone do the math.
#8 this is why you shouldn't go to Argentina or Islas Malvinas, if what you stated is true hopefully the illlegal aliens in Islas Malvinas Argentina will go home to UK soon, but somehow I know 3000 british that love Argentina beyond their mother land, unfortunately they have no say because they are illegal aliens occupying foreign land.

I go to Argentina twice a year. If they are illegal, do something. If it's your island .....do something more than whine. If it's your island....take it back. It isn't wealthy people that take cruises unless your definition of wealthy is quite low. 96% earn less then 100k and thats far from wealthy.

Check your numbers again turism is a seasonal market and it caters to the 10% of the world population who make more then 10.000 a year. While fishing is an all year activity feeding 90% of the world population who make at least 1$ a day. Or how else do you think the british illegal aliens can afford to theft our oil in Malvinas Argentina. Illegal fishing and theft of resources.

We're still in the Falklands, we're about to hold a referendum to confirm to the world our desire, our economy is booming, there's a little over 3,000 of us but Argentina has 0 options to do a single thing about it. All your government can do is try some lame embargoes and try to spread propaganda around the place. You need to get rid of CFK and her cronies before she destroys what little credibility you have left.

#27 illegal aliens can deside to be legal or go back home ASAP, british have desided to go back to UK and Argentina supports their right to self determination in UK, in Argentina illegal aliens have no rights but those given by Argentina. Maybe we Argentines have the same rights to move in and stay in UK but UK doesn't recognize our rights to self determination so neither do we accept british illegal aliens in Islas malvinas Argentina. We will not stand for racist and bias international laws. Maybe they can do it to latins, muslims or gypsys but we Argentines will meassure this bastards with the same rod. Islas Malvinas had a governor Luis vernet appointed by Argentina, fakland island holdings is a corporate from UK as coca-cola is a corporation. British illegal aliens had and have no rights in our land unless the UK wants us Argentine's to take property from British owners in Latin America and threaten them with weapons and armed militias taking our land back from foreigners by force as the illegal aliens done in Islas malvinas Argentina over 100 years ago.

I am really seeking a explaination to the claim to the Faklands by Argentina. BTW PH.....it's 179 years years that Argentina was evicted for squating after the British returned after being evicted from the USA.

#32 Argentine's will also like an explanation for UK to claim Islas Malvinas Argentina by a group of british illegal aliens. Fakland holding piracy is at the end of their thieving years. Look at a map and all questions will become, sea mines can end all illegal aliens presence from our land.

PH So then ask a brit, don't ask me. Sea mines.......at least you are not longer going to build a nuclear bomb with pesos......pheeeewww! However, I thank having control of the island for 179 years is pretty strong it is British. 1982 Argentina was slapped around pretty good and not the first in the Falklands history.
So shall I assume by your statement “look at a map” you are implying proximity trumps control? I think it's time the USA tells the Castro twins it's time to move, Cuba belongs to the USA......90 (144km) because.....I mean it's so close. As I continue to apply the proximity rule, Bahamas.....no more country USA. Let me get a map and finish what really belongs to the USA.

Do you mean sea mines or land mines ? Argentina signed the convention to ban land mines in 1997 - it's a pity they didn't take these with them when they scattered them all over the Falkands.
If you remember the Iraq war and the mines the Iraqis laid in Kuwait and the Shatt-el arab waterway, it was the Royal Navy who were tasked to clear this area because of their special expertise.
NOT ONLY CAN WE CLEAR THEM, BUT WE ARE ALSO GOOD AT MAKING THEM AND LAYING THEM !
If I remember correctly Buenos Aires is a large port and there are also many more along your seaboard. Laying mines here should not be too difficult.
Remember the old adage “Sow the wind and reap the whirlwind ”

Buenos Aires has totally lost it's lustre. Years ago, Buenos Aires was an exciting destination, tourists would come to eat the famous beef and buy silver jewelry and leather coats, bags, go to see a Tango show.......fast forward 10 years, the beef is no longer any good or any better than anywhere else in the world as all of the cows are now on feedlot, no more grass fed beef from the open pampas, all of it gets exported. Silver jewelry, and leather goods now cost as much or more than in New York! And at least 2/3 of the Tango shows have shut down, people don't really go much because of the poor quality of the show, the ridiculously high prices, and the bad food and miserable service. Buenos Aires has taken a real nosedive in the past decade, everything is in decline, crime out of control, a basic lunch is around $20 dollars and even the Argentines are fed up with the government. Things have to bottom out here and the government needs to disappear and take their uncontrollable corruption with them to the bottom of the ocean!.......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyPC0SD0PGw

#37 for all the reason you mention I support the right of Argentina to build a nuclear defense program, sea mines are probably a better solution to eliminate the british pirates from fishing our seas. Even a reward for sinking illegal fishing boats will go a long way to eliminate illegal activity in Islas Malvinas Argentina. British can file a complaint in london for not protecting their rights to self determination in UK.

The world powers that be frown on any new nuclear defenses. You missed the ship when that boat was boarding. In the next twelve months.......watch Iran closely, as it is transformed from sand into a glass bowl.
Then......think of Argentina and the nuclear expertise she is thinking of purchasing from China. If you think the USA waivers because China buys our debt, don't kid yourself.

Please read ALL of my post at #37. What kind of mines are you going to lay and how many? You would probably need to lay about 100,000 to effectively deny the S. Atlantic to sea traffic. So how do your ships reach your ports? Remember, mines cannot differentiate between pirates and friendly vessels. Considering how your lot laid the land mines on the Falklands, you would probably have no idea where you put them .
At present, your navy could not launch plastic ducks in a bath !

If you start sinking fishing vessels then you will get a couple of cruise missiles where it hurts.

I can see why you went to Canada. They are friendly and a sympathetic people who tolerate lunatics like you.
