Unasur (Union of South American Nations) wants to closely accompany the democratic restoration process in Paraguay and is not after the reinstatement of removed president Fernando Lugo, said Peruvian Foreign Affairs minister Rafael Roncagliolo. Read full article

Disclaimer & comment rulesWhat a can of garbage the Unasur is......The same it did with Paraguay, it didn´t give time to the new legal authorities to have a defense and suspended it because an alleged crisis which didn´t exist.....Paraguay has a legal Gvt. sucesion as its Constitution demand....
Aug 16th, 2012 - 06:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0Anyway, finally it was a favor to Paraguayans to be suspended from that kid of gnagsters club....I hope Chile would be suspended too or deleted better yet....It´s a disgrace for us, the Chilean citiziens to be mixed with countries like Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, etc ruled by the worst people they can have.....Similar concept about the Mercosur....
is there even a difference between Unasur and Mercosur meanwhile?
Aug 16th, 2012 - 08:59 am - Link - Report abuse 0If yes, this will surely change in a couple of months...
Shame they're not pushing for Lugo to be reinstated, ie the coup to be reversed. Still we are where we are now so its most important that democracy is restored as soon as possible

Aug 16th, 2012 - 02:27 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Get it in to your very thick head that there was no rupture in the democratic process in Paraguay, Lugo was impeached and left office, he was succeded by his vice president, totally democratic!!!!!
So what does Unasur want from Paraguay?
Aug 16th, 2012 - 02:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0A public I'm sorry?
A rewriting of the constitution to make it 'more democratic than the rest of South America'?
A promise to create more 'human rights' than the rest of South America?
So what does Mercosur want from Paraguay?
An ”I'm sorry?
A written agreement that it will never stand in the way of AR, BR and VE?
Yes indeed, Mr Think, strange are the ways of South American 'Democracy'.
Just leave Unasur Paraguay. It does absolutely nothing for you. When dumbasses make comments like
Aug 16th, 2012 - 04:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0“Mr Lerner recalled Unasur commitment to contribute...as well as the strict compliance with democratic standards, human rights leading to clean and transparent elections”
Really!!!!???? What a joke. Evo Morales has imprisioned all of his oposition, CFK is attempting the very same, Rafael Correa has essentially eliminated all opposition media, and then we have good ol' crazy Uncle Hugo, no need to mention his rupture with human rights and democratic standards.
Just leave the useless bloc. Anyone please tell me one, just one single benefit that Paraguay receives from UNASUR.
Let's ask some questions:
Aug 16th, 2012 - 04:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 01. When Paraguay helped found mercosur, did any of the other members point out that its constitution wasn't in accord with their idea of democratic order?
2. When Lugo assumed the office of president, did he rush to change the provision in the constitution regarding impeachment?
3. Is there any provision in the Paraguayan constitution for an impeachment procedure to take place according to a specified time scale or schedule?
4. Is mercosur supposed to be a trade organisation or a political organisation?
5. Did Lugo get a hearing before the National Congress?
6. Did Paraguay get a hearing by mercosur?
7. Did Paraguay get a hearing by unasur?
8. Is there any notable lack of democracy in post-Lugo Paraguay?
Once you've answered these questions honestly, you know all you need to know. And the conclusions are that mercosur is corrupt and unasur is corrupt.
