Argentina's economic activity remained flat in June compared to a year ago, according to the latest release from the country’s questioned stats office, Indec. The EMAE economic activity index, a close proxy for GDP published on Friday showed a 1.1% expansion in June versus May and 2.5% in the first half of the year. Read full article

Latin americans all agree our economy is healthy and slowly but surely growing, the conflicts made in UK, USA, IMF and WTO are specifically designed to make Latin America dependent on them and their currency to collect yearly interest on All of Latin American products, this is the reason we see more British and US citizens so involved in south American politics and economics when in USA and UK their people have no idea about neither, maybe they should fix the log in their eye to better see the speck in ours.

#14 It's a common theme of all these immigrants both legally and illegally to bad mouth the USA because we don't give them enough. Now bleeding heart BO wants to give them amnesty for elluding capture and deportation.
I do agree with you that she definitely has issues. She always claims to have travelled the world, something few people that work for an income can do. But I have no idea why she decided to settle in my country and bitch about it. She seems to think that Argentina is better poised for good times than the USA or Europe. In fact most of SA feels that way now that China is their now bed mate. Little do they realize is that China's growth is based on European and American businesses manufacturing there because of the lax laws and labor regs, then selling to the USA and Europe. We both are coming to see the tainted and poisonous products coming out of China. Eventually they will implement more controls and laws in which the cost of doing business will not be so cheap. SA does not have a long period of prosperity if at all.

“Can a child be born a Muslim?”

    Regrettably, yes.

If Diana had given birth from the Fayed relationship, the fact that the father is a Muslim means the child is automatically a Muslim. No ifs, no buts.

And of course once a Muslim, always a Muslim. If you try to leave (even if YOU think you have left) you can legally under Sharia Law be killed. In fact it is the responsibility of any 'righteous' Muslim to ensure that happens.

This is what is haunting OBarmy. His father was a Muslim and in the eyes of all ‘true’ Muslims that makes him a Muslim also. Having the middle name of Hussein is of course sealing the matter as far as they are concerned.

As an atheist I used to be ambivalent towards Muslims, but no longer. They are the most despotic religion you can imagine and have the goal of 'converting everyone to the true faith' OR murdering them as they would be infidels and these cannot be allowed to live.

If you doubt the domination thing, please see the link.

#19 “As an atheist I used to be ambivalent towards Muslims, but no longer”

Of course not, you've followed the scapegoating propaganda of the right to the letter! If blacks, gays or Jews became the new whipping boy for the ruling class you'd of course “discover” a lot of bad things about them wouldn't you?!

Btw on the original question, you can't be born a Muslim, you have to make the confession of faith, ie “there is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his Prophet” to become one; no-one who simply had a Muslim biological father (or grandfather, Obama's dad was a complete apostate and, surprisingly in your worldview perhaps, avoided exection!) and was raised by Christians and secularists and later became a Christian like Obama, could be seen as a Muslim. I don't like Obama, I think he's been a dissapointment domestically and a Bushite in foreign policy, but these Tea Party lies about him are poison, and really old hat now...

You really do believe all this leftie nonsense about conspiracies and the gays, Jews and Muslims, don't you?

Perhaps it is you who needs to understand Sharia. Did you look at the video? Do you want to be part of the Muslim Faith and ruled by Sharia?

You are confusing JOINING the faith as an adult, like the deluded British converts in Bedford, Bradford and Leeds who go on to commit terrorists acts in the UK, when you claim ALL have to make the confession of faith.

Obarmy's father was born of a Muslim father, so he was automatically a Muslim, as of course is Obarmy. It does not matter whether they were practising Muslims or not: that would / does not alter anything in the eyes of a 'true' Muslim.

And I don't need a lecture from the likes of a traitorous bastard like you when I have taken the time to do my research and know very well what I am posting is fact.

#22 The Muslim belief, which I'm sure you won't agree with but its their belief, is that every child is born naturally Muslim. Thats why they call converts “reverts”. If a child is brought up Muslim they don't need to “revert” to Islam (though I thought they still make the confession of faith, like confirmation in the church) but Obama, with an atheist, and absent, father as his only link to an entirely biological association with Islam, would definately have to. Which he won't, of course!!! Its telling how you see the entirely ideological position of Islam as biological, kinda shows your racism!

    @23 Blind_Scottie_Kirchnerist

I am not a racist or even being racist, how can a 'faith' that encompasses all races be racist?

What I am very concerned about is the whole of society, except those who have been born a Muslim (as Obarmy) and those who have embraced it, just sleep walking toward a Muslim world. Make no mistake, that is what Muslims want and they will eradicate the infidel to achieve it. Not in my lifetime but probably in the lifetime of my sons.

There is no simple answer. Argentina for once has attempted to do the right thing and ban anyone who is a Muslim from becoming President (racism?). Even they fell afoul of the overarching doctrine that allows 'faith soldiers' to lie, commit crimes including murder, when they pursue Islamist beliefs and goals. One President, when he died was buried in a Muslim graveyard!

You really do need to open your eyes to the real facts of the matter and not continue with this blinded 'racism' claim you keep making throughout your posts, no matter what the topic.

    @Chris / BK
You should check this guy out, Pat Condell:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/patcondell

I think Chris will like him a lot more than BK, but I think even BK would concede that he makes some good points, especially about the barbaric treatment of women in the name of Islam.

I find it grossly ironic that BK, who supports strong women in politics, is also an apologist for a religion that is overtly medieval in its treatment of women – and BK that is not “scapegoating propaganda”. The very same human rights groups that fight for the rights of prisoners in Guantanamo will tell you that much.

I have met enough decent Muslims to know that it is not all bad, but I do share Chris’s unease about the malign nature of the Islam spread by force. I see it as very similar to the way Christianity was forced on South America, but Christian societies have mostly evolved and become secular societies. With the notable exception of Turkey, largely Islamic countries struggle to act secularly and respect other religions. For me, at the end of the day that is the “proof in the pudding” that Islam doesn’t sit easily in a free and democratic society.

#24 “how can a 'faith' that encompasses all races be racist?”

Its not. Its the scapegoating of the faiths followers by EDL types that, along with anti-gypsy bigotry, is the last acceptable form of racism. Btw do you think that the deranged views that some Islamist fanatics MIGHT have in claiming Obama as “born into the faith” should affect his suitability to be President?

”Argentina for once has attempted to do the right thing and ban anyone who is a Muslim from becoming President (racism?)“

Certainly prejudice. Or do you think the Muslim Brotherhood are right to try to ban Christians from running for President of Egypt? When was this passed btw, was it because of Menem's ancestry?

”One President, when he died was buried in a Muslim graveyard!“

Who? Menem is still alive right, and as people always say on here the rest are all white Europeans, right?

#25 ”the barbaric treatment of women in the name of Islam“

A lot of bad things are done ”in the name of” a lot of ideologies. Condell is basically an atheist fundamentalist, like Dawkins but cruder(!) What he says about the Guardian is particularly ridiculous in light of this http://electronicintifada.net/blogs/ali-abunimah/new-guardian-team-member-openly-incited-israel-murder-alice-walker-and-others

“I find it grossly ironic that BK, who supports strong women in politics, is also an apologist for a religion that is overtly medieval in its treatment of women”

Or you could take it the other way, that I'm clearly not medieval in my views on women and thus my views on Muslims are therefore really based on opposition to ALL opression. Btw there are strong Muslim women in politics too, like Briatin's Salma Yaqoob

“that is the “proof in the pudding” that Islam doesn’t sit easily in a free and democratic society”

    BK,
“there are strong Muslim women in politics too, like Briatin's Salma Yaqoob”
Yes, exactly. Living in a western secular democracy, not a medieval Islamic nightmare. Send her to Saudi to see how she gets on. Oh that’s right, they are so poor that she wouldn’t even be able to drive there. Poor, poor Saudi. Nasty westerners stole their wealth and made them treat women as second class.

“Or you could take it the other way, that I'm clearly not medieval in my views on women and thus my views on Muslims are therefore really based on opposition to ALL opression.”

Yes, I could have taken it that way, but I think that by your reply - implying that stoning women to death is a result of poverty – I was right not to give you that much credit.

Chile was in the 3rd world when I was born and women have always been respected in our matriarchal society. No stoning them, no portable tents, no denying them education. In fact in tough times we try harder to protect our women from hardship. The barbarism that you see in many Muslim countries does not come from poverty, it comes directly from the example set by Mohammad. Problem is, as you well know, if a public figure says that, they will need 24/7 protection and a panic room in their house.

You have sunk to new depths on this. You are so blinkered that you even lay the blame for Islam’s treatment of women and infidels at the feet of the West, even though you must know that such practices go back to well before the rise of Europe. Numpty of the highest order.

If you mean a Scots Nat I'm certainly not, I support the Union though I admit I'd prefer a United Republic. I don't take a position on Argentina's claim to the Falklands, and I've never spoken anything but ill of the likes of Galtieri on here, I just think it would be better for everyone except for a handful of oilmen who thanks to their adventures in Iraq, Saudi etc I have no real sympathy for, if the Falklands were to have a better relationship with the rest of the continent in which it is a village sized community. Cristina's focus on talks is the perfect opportunity for Britain to do this without having to a priori accept anything of the Argentine claim

#32 “Send her to Saudi to see how she gets on. Oh that’s right, they are so poor that she wouldn’t even be able to drive there. Poor, poor Saudi. Nasty westerners stole their wealth and made them treat women as second class”

I hope you're only saying “send her to Saudi” metaphorically. Some might say it literally! Look, I really hate the Saudi regime. They are a bunch of medieval minded barbarians, and just as bad, complete hypocrites. And you're right they didn't need the west to make them so; I was short of characters at the end of a long post so had to simplify. But the truth is the west and especially its oil companies, the same ones the anti-Argies on here are so enthusiastic about, are the very ones propping up this least democratic country in the entire world, this birthplace of the al-Qaeda ideology, while creating the underdevelopment and sense of grievance across the rest of the Muslim world, as across the wider post-colonial world, that makes a move towards a more liberal society so much less likely. And of course any attempt to bring liberalism by tanks as they said they would in Iraq will only discredit its appeal further. Peace is a better environment for progree than war!

Thanks for the reply. The Condorito rating agency has downgraded you from “Numpty of the highest order” (ie AAA Numpty) to AA Numpty with a positive outlook, principally because you have surprised to the upside by recognising that Saudis are a “bunch of medieval minded barbarians”.

I could have downgraded you immediately to “A Numpty” if you hadn’t continued with “the truth is the west and especially its oil companies”. Why excuse them (the Saudis)?

If they are anti-democratic medieval minded barbarians, then lay the blame at their door, not the oil companies’. It is very patronising to us 3rd worlders, that you won’t even let us take credit for our own mess.

If it is an Anglo country doing bad it is their fault, right? If it is an African or South American country doing bad, it is never our fault, it is always because of the CIA, the oil companies, Yankee imperialism, Spanish colonial legacy, the slave trade, etc.

It is like you are saying (this is general, not specifically related to Saudis) we are not even capable of messing things up, we are just passive players who are either victims of the bad Anglos or rescued by the good Anglos. It is a kind of perverse patronising racism/cultural superiority complex – although I genuinely understand that you are well meaning and don’t mean it that way.

Absolutely, it is so often the case that extremists come from wealth families. Looking for a cause, an invented injustice because they have had life too easy. Allende, Che Guevara, Bin Laden, Abimael Guzman...Tony Ben =)

#36 I'm not making any excuses for al Qaeda though am I, I've always seen them as part of the problem! The question is why does a nutter like binLaden even get an audience in the wider society (thankfully, not as big a one actually as the mainstream media would hae you think). Thats where the hatred created by western policies across the middle east comes in. As for his own wealth, Osama not only came from a rich family but also received funding from the USA to fight the Russians in the 80s...

#37 My criticism though is that the west is perpetuating Saudi medievalist barbarism by treating it as such a major diplomatic, military and economic ally. Surely you agree that is wrong?! As for your radicals from wealthy families list, they may have had that one thing in common but I wouldn't in any other way compare the heroic likes of Che, let alone democratic elected politicians like Allende and Benn, with Guzman or least of all binLaden

Che a hero? Maybe a Marxist uprising is a romantic notion when it is not in your backyard. A bullet in the head was more than he deserved. Allende democratic, yeh, so was Hitler remember. Actually, they were both anit-semitic too, and national socialists; while Adolf advocate extermination of gypsies, Allende only wanted them forcefully sterilized (he actually drafted a bill on the subject)...and like Adolf when his chickens came home to roost he put a bullet in his own head. Actually, on reflection I can now see why you might regard Che as heroic.

Did he not fail in the Congo to get the 'freedom fighters' trained and returned to Cuba a failure?

By this time his advice to the two Castro twats to get in bed with Russia had really come up trumps with the economy in a nose dive that would last 50 years! Stunning victory there then.

But, wait for it: his crowning glory in Bolivia when the army, helped by the dastardly yanks, captured him and executed him. Ohh! I bet that crimped his day.

Like Bin Liner, he came from a well to do family in Rosario and was studying medicine when he had his seizure or whatever it was that made his think he could rule the whole of LatAm. What was it with him? Guilt complex? Egotism? Fell out with his dad for being wealthy? Bored? You name it!

I can see anyone wanting to help the 'poor', but you do not do a sustainable job by redistributing everybody else's wealth. That way you bring everybody down to a common level and the clever people leave, then it's all fcuked.

Wealth creation for all by providing industry for work is the way to go. He had failed Cuba again when he was minister for industry!

Castro could have stopped all this failure by shooting the cnut. I agree with Condorito.

    Chris
Che wanted to rule now? Why don't you try opening a book, old man, it's never too late. At least don't expect the rest of us play russian roulette with our comments...

    Condorito
Bolivian army sold him out. USA assassinated him, but he left a legacy that they never could wash away. “I'm more afraid of Che now than I was when he lived” the yanqui in charge said. He never knew how right he was

#43 The Bolivian killer probably doesn't agree with you now, as an old man in poverty his sight was restored by the Cuban-Venezuelan “Operation Miracle”; surely this sublime episode is proof of the morality of socialism?

Where did I say he wanted to rule?

But he was part of the ruling clique in Cuba:
“he was president of the National Bank of Cuba, and then minister of industry. In this position, he travelled the world as an ambassador for Cuba. At home, he carried out plans for land redistribution and the nationalisation of industry” (BBC History Che Guevara (1928 - 1967)).

And what on earth do you mean by “At least don't expect the rest of us play Russian roulette with our comments...”?

And the multiple periods is definitely the trade marking of 'I don't Think' aka The Turnip In Chief; do you really want to become the second biggest liar (after him) on MercoPress. You are better than that.

In conclusion, you are the one that needs to read a SENSIBLE book on Guevara: he failed in Cuba, he failed in the Congo and they executed him in Bolivia! And that's a success?

    @47 ChrisRepulsive
....and what former US President John F. Kennedy did for the USA?
his obsession against Cuba made him to loose his life....,
his obsession against North Vietnam made the USA to loose the longest war...

    BK / Guzz,
Well, was it a Gringo or a Bolivian that killed him?

    BK
“as an old man in poverty his sight was restored by the Cuban-Venezuelan “Operation Miracle”; surely this sublime episode is proof of the morality of socialism?”
No, this means he had a good eye surgeon. There is a team of US doctors who operate to save the sight of 100s of children in SA every year. Is this proof of the morality of capitalism? Nope.

    Guzz
“but he left a legacy that they never could wash away”
Hummmm. He only has a “legacy” (read “T-shirt”) with wealthy students who want to rebel against something but not quite sure what. They soon forget him like the world has.

ChrisR do not allow yourself to digress with these La CXampora trolls. That is what the likes of sussie (really a guy), BK and the likes are for. Haven't you noticed that they all seem to live in other cxountries and APPEAR to make there remarks more credible.
There sole purpose to to disgress conversation away from the articles that chastise Argentina.

I am not in La Campora either, though if I was Argentine, I'd probably apply to join it!
