Carter Centre absent as observer from Venezuelan October presidential election

The Atlanta based Carter Centre said this week that it declined an invitation from Venezuela's National Electoral Council to have a team at the country's Oct. 7 presidential election. The Centre said it received the invitation too late ”to evaluate it and organize the necessary experts and financing”. Read full article

    I think the record of Venezuelan elections is so spotless, verified by the Carter Centre and others in the past, it doesn't really need observers. America, on the other hand, could have used some in 2000!

    I hope the Falklands have requested Jimmy's group or some kind of external auditors to attend. Nowt like independent observers to help sanctify proceedings.
