The sons and daughters of the Cuban elite have always left the country. They understand the Cuban situation better than anyone else.

They understand it, yet the SA leaders do not and they continue to pontificate about democracy and still partner with cuba whcih is the farthest thing from democracy

    How are you defining'democracy'here poppy

Whiole there is multiple forms of democracy, there are basic tenents of democracy
*The will of the majority of the people to choose their leaders from mulitple politcal parties, as opposed the cuba's one communist party.
    *No tyranny by the majority
*freedom of speech and press (leaves ecuador out)
    * freedon of religion
    *equal treatment of the law
    *rights of the minority
    *A respected constitution
    *separation of powers
*A system of checks and balances to insure a balance of power

These are basic tenents and sytems of a modern democracy. The only one that would ask a definition of democracy is someone that does not practice it or have.
I am still waiting for a definition myself in another article.
A totalitarian government is a centralized government that only allows ONE political party.

    5, Guzz,

Neither ther Iraq war nor Afghanistan´s were about installing democracy in those countries, but about eliminating security threats for the world and the region.

I think it's so cute seeing the south american propaganda machin in work. Next they will be quoting wikipedia as a real source and wealth of information.
If you knew anything about the philosophical political war called the “Cold War”, you might understand Vietnam and Korea, but I find that doubtful.
yulana, who told you we are professing to be liberators? We stopped that with WWII and the concentration camps that your friends, the nazis created. We are looking after our own interests.

No you didn't stop being 'liberators' .afganistan .
Don't think you have a right to defend the yanqui, you don't have that , you merely defend what is done.Look after yourselves wouldn't require what is done.

No one in the USA considers Afghanistan an act of liberation, but an act for 9/11

A coalition of nations entered Afghanistan to get rid of Al Queida terrorist training camps. Maybe you have heard of 9/11 ?
After some initial success culminating with the death of Assama, we are now stuck with Taliban insurgents infiltrating the country and trying to turn the clock back.
As you appear to be a world strategist, what is your solution.
Remember, both the public in the USA and the UK want their troops out.
There is absolutely no material gain to be there.
All your country does on the world stage is carp and whine, Malvinas, Malvinas. Certainly the top priority on the world stage just now.

I know all about 9/11/73 poppy and I know of other 9/11's and as you quite rightly say,Afganistan is a war of terror.Just like France in Algeria .
However, post 11# is memorable.Do you support these sentiments poppy or are you opposed to them?

I knew you would use that response. So, back on point, what about the lack of democracy in Cuba that you support. You would prefer to support a country because they are latin without democracy, then a non latin country with democracy. A fair asseessment based on all article posts from you.

A fair assessment based on your understanding of all article posts that you have read.
Trying looking at the distribution of power and it's relationship to democracy, and how it affects the distribution of wealth(resources not commodities) and perhaps you could look at democracy as something that everyone shares.

Democracy is not about the distribution of wealth, it's about opinion and choice. Capitalism and socialism is about resources.
While I am sure that you do not believe it, if cuba is so great, tell me why they are willing to die to get across that 90 miles of water to Florida? Even castro's daughter escaped from cuba. But she is insane, or retarded or or or

Opinion is opinion and choice is choice.Shall we invent another new word to go with a previous invention, economic colonialist.New word opinice which will mean democracy in practice, rather than as a political concept.
Again you are of the opinion that every person should value a political system equally irrespective of their position in the system. You probably consider yourself lucky to be in the position you are in compared to where other 'American's ' are situated.

“Again you are of the opinion that every person should value a political system equally irrespective of their position in the system.”

you are wrong.....shoe me where I stated that, or did you surmise that?

“You probably consider yourself lucky to be in the position you are in compared to where other 'American's ' are situated.”

I consider myself lucky for a great many of things but my economic status is not one of them Yuleno. You are aware that 316 million people live in the USA and less than 13 million are unemployed. I have been to South America, have you been to the USA Yuleno?

This is sad, I feel for the father, Fidel himself went through the same with a daughter in Miami who became a broadcaster of pro-imperialist gangster filth. I hope it doesn't represent any right wing tendencies on the father's own part or in the reform process, more likely she just wanted to get rich quick in thye states; the personal betrayal is still shocking
