The Falkland Islands total allowable effort and catch limits for 2013 will be largely the same as in 2012......
I say:
That means that the three thousand (3,000) squatters in Malvinas will, again next year, be responsible for the extraction of nearly half the migrating biomass on the South Atlantic by licensing the catches to Asian fishing fleets…..
“Graciously” leaving the other half of the catch to the forty two million (42,000,000) Argentineans………
Very “efficient” greedy, glutton, pirating Environmental Terrorism by the squatters; I must say.
The spirit of Henry VIII seems to live quite well in them Islands.....
Just remember Friar Peto’s: “Shall dogs lick thy blood…....”
Somewhat irrelevant Think. Blame your own inefficiency. Besides - if you want to start a fish war, you can hardly complain if the David turns out to be better than Goliath.
You'll be telling me that life should be fair next!
Not that there are any squatters in that region. There were, for a few months at the end on 1832, and again in 1982, but they were sent home.
Squatters present Nov 1832-Jan 1833, and April 1982-June 1982.
Both left a mess by murder/rape or shitting in people's bedrooms, leaving the Islands in a worse state than they found it.
Kinda explains why 42,ooo,ooo people with some of the best resources on the planet can't @2 cant make a go of living on the 8th largest country on the planet, and are so greedy they want to steal the resources of 3,000 people, like the would- be pirates they are.

2) What is so “efficient” about those Islanders sitting on their ever growing humongous butts cashing in on Asian fishing licenses…???
Any Turnip can do that….!!!
And that’s exactly what Argentina is doing by “inviting” some Asian fishing fleets to enjoy the hospitality of our harbors and fish as much as they can on the waters beyond our mile 201…..
3) We agree about live not being fair……..... but:

A nice weekend to all of you.
El Think.
The fish belong to them Think - so they can do much as they please. You can try to get the squid first, that's fair - just stay out of Falkland Waters.
As for relevancy, so little that is said on here is relevant. You refer to the Falklanders as 'squatters' knowing full well that Argentina has neither an historical nor legal case. You are into geopolitics. You just 'want' the islands because you recognise the advantages of vastly increasing Argentina's territory.
Well the game is not going well for you Think. Do you really believe that your neighbours will let you get that powerful? Or that Brazil will countenance another big boy on the block? Unlikely. Chile will recognise that if you are not fighting the English then you'll probably turn on them.
Isn't geopolitics great Think .... it should make you think.......... maybe you're getting old :-)
@Think - Argentine caught over 92 thousand tonnes as of the june techincal report
June’s Technical Report 18/12 ended the season in July, when a reported 92.332 tons of squid had been unloaded in Argentine ports both by jiggers and as by-catches of the trawlers.
Thats more than double the limit of what the falklands impost on catches in falklands waters. So how you can say the falklands will be responsible for the extraction of nearly half the migrating biomass on the South Atlantic is beyond me, especially when argentina catches most of its illex squid earlier in the squids migration and are now seeking to extend their fleet by 20 jiggers and the fishing zone upto the 201 mile. That is not only a politically motivated move to strangle the falklands fishing industry, but also a sign that they have over fished current argentine fishing zones and need to extend further out to sea to make up for catch shortages in argentina's tradional fishing zones.
You say:
”You can try to get the squid first, that's fair - just stay out of Falkland waters.”
I say:
Well….. We are in agreement….
Why don’t you tell that to British Squatters Mr. John Barton, Mr. Hamish Wylie or Mrs. Cheryl Roberts whining and crying about “Environmental Terrorism” through their Media Mouthpiece……???
@14
There are several million Argentine squatters on Amerindian land according to your logic. But as they are not as efficient at managing that land as the Falkland Islanders are their's and I doubt the Spanish would want them back.
The British love their fish.
Henry VIII just couldn't get enough fish and chips.
Keep up the good work brave and hardy Falkland Islanders and continue helping to feed the World.

According to a source: 511,087 tons taken in 2002, or 23.3% of the entire squid harvest And how much was taken in 2012? 185,000 tons? More than half by argies! Really must try for some FACTS, Twinky!

My guess woud be that Cristina will want to make a speech to the Assembly on its opening. Probably much the same as the one last year. Will she appear at the 4th ?? Well she went to the sub-sub C24, so the 4th is the only one that she hasn't spoken directly to. Why would she bother? Now that's easy. Argentina hasn't managed a GA Resolution since 1988 and for all the bleating about non-compliance they know that those old Resolutions are all as dead as your average Dodo.
Cristina needs a new one to show that her diplomatic (in the political sense) strategy is working. That's why she went to the C24 (and obviously for the publicity).
Cristina hasn't got much going for her at home these days, so she needs a win somewhere. A GA Resolution would do it for her, even though we know that they have little real power. A Resolution would give her some moral ground.
