The Falklands fishing industry has encountered the highest Loligo squid catch for 16 years, however, this could negatively affect the price for the industry. Read full article
That's interesting, here in Argentina prices rarely, if ever, fall. They usually stay put if there is overproduction of any goods until such a time as they go up!!!!
”Obviously any market which is suddenly saturated with an excess of stock will suffer an effect on price and this is an issue which obviously concerns the industry greatly and one we are all currently working on.”
I wonder what they mean by that? But still, it's quite a nice story full of common sense and the value of forward planning.
Again, more good news for the Islanders, go for it guys!!
what it means is what the rgenweeners threatened, overfish it till stocks are dwindled, they think they are getting one up on the islands whilst infact they are shooting themselves in the foot again
70.000 millions of tons in 12.000 km2 and for 2.500 population
I call it overfishing
I know you sell, but its not proportional
And why is it our loligo, do they were a british colony that came from UK??
As far as I know they are indegenous of this region, so its our loligo.
Arg will always with every gov claim Malvinas.
The photo too much photoshop. We should ridiculize the hands of your prime minister that looks thin, like ladies hands.
And it seems you like so much talking of our president to divert attention from your domestic problems.
For our region violence like throwing missiles by foreign countries it is not routine. Point well to the center of the isles or your squids, and dont bother. Tomorrow is day of diversity in Argentina. Dont bother.

Interesting article you posted
The islands are being used for political ends, Mario Menéndez, the general who led Argentine troops during the Falklands War, told The Daily Telegraph”
Mario Menéndez?? :-)))))))))))))))
What a catch! a great example of great resource management by the Falklands fisheries in the shadow of argentinas spiteful squid kull, smiles all round :)
Overfishing Malen? no thats argentinas tactic usually in other peoples territory. have a nice day, oh envious one :)
@4 What is it? Are you being deliberately stupid or does it come naturally? It's 70,000 METRIC tonnes. Should be obvious from the first sentence!
@10 This may come as a surprise to you but your region does NOT extend across the whole bounds of the South Atlantic. Your region is South America. No more. The Falkland Islands are not in South America. Nor are they ever likely to be. And what Britain does in its territory is none of your business. Poking your nose in where it's not wanted could get it chopped off!
Falkland politicians using “Loligo squid catches” for political reason.
Crime and Bicycle stealing on the rise, cocaine vanished from police station, Royal navy personal high on cocaine, lemons missing on Islanders diet and economic trouble plus rampant corruption hitting the shores of what use to be a heaven Islands when the Argies took them back for Argentina.
Oh! Sorry I got so enthusiastic with the peace of rubbish article wrote by “Jonathan Gilbert” that I thought... Well with a little bit of practices I can do the same...
Fishermen may get more money depending on the balance between price and volume.
The wholesaler will keep prices to the retailer - supermarket chains in the Western world - as high as possible, to maximise profit.
The retailer will keep prices as high as possible 'to stabilise the market', to maximise profit.
The housewife will continue to pay pretty much the same price for her squid rings.
The ones who usually lose out are the 'producer' - fisherman/farmer - and the end-consumer.
Truthfully, overfishing is a strategy of OUR government, Malen. The clever idea is that if we sell an excess of licences to the Spanish, Korean, and Chinese fishing fleets we will cleverly leave the Islanders without squid!!!!
The answer is that we couldn't sell the licences because there wer no takers!!!!
The other side of this particular coin is that 25.000 famillies who live on the Atlantic coast have lost their livelihood, FISHING, because of the regressive policies of our government encouraging overfishing, not only in our waters, but also in Uruguayan waters. For proof Google sobrepesca de merluza!!!!!!!!
@9 I repeat, past, present and future argentine presidents have different ways to present a claim on the islands....CFK is not using such claim to cover up the present economic situation in Argentina....Carlos Menen, the former argentine president is the one that ruined Argentina for 8 years.
Worst yet, he resumed the diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom of the rubbish bloody english men!
@26
You should know better....
Simeon68 aka Zhivago aka ChrisR aka chinese residing in Tierra del Fuego is the same UK WIMP.
Surface to air missiles with a range of 4 miles are only a threat to aircraft attacking the Falkland Islands so if you lot don't attack the islands you are quite safe.
