    Presumably, this report was based only on RKH/Premier exploitation and is therefore not the full picture. So, Rockhopper leaps through what we now know to be an unnecessary hoop set it by FIG only for the Consultant to be publicly patronised by Mr Luxton Jr. I trust he bought the lady a drink after the presentation.

    Dover - No - RKH funded and did this on their own bat - not asked nor requested to do so by FIG - but as a responsible operator they need to find out themselves. FIG are going to do their own one which will of course be braoder and probably include the possibilites of impact of filed strikes in other areas like the South Basin as well.
    But this first study shows up all the plusses and minuses - all of which were anticipated and being managed or will be. Busy times ahead over next 18 months here for Govt and private sector to get ready and operations etc in place ready for the start up in 2014.

    An excellent piece of work and Operator driven as Islander1 states, and necessary for Rockhopper to understand fundamentals. This will greatly assist Premier going forward. We should remember the Sea Lion discovery was announced in mid 2010 and note that FIG are only now waking up to what it now needs to do. This report in the main only deals with the Sea Lion discovery, but does indicate the potential reach of further discoveries of which there are likely to be several, across the range of falklands controlled geological basins! Well done Rockhopper.

    Some rough calculations...
    £275,000,000 / 2500 = £110,000 GDP per capita

    That would place the Falklands in either second or first, in direct competition with Monaco, as the highest GDP per capita in the World. No wonder there are so many envious glances, aggressive words and callous insults from Argentina.

    Doveoverdover really is one of more bizarre created characters on here.

    Someone tried to parachute him in under the guise of a benevolent retired English gent, just with a wierd obsession with minutae of any faintly positive news. Tries to discredit the entire article. Odd, but he makes lots of little stylistic errors that show the true blue colors.

    @3 and 4. This is worse than I thought. Shareholder value is being eroded by none-essential and duplicated contract work. No wonder the share price has been eroded if this is the standard of decision making. I'm all for stakeholder management and risk registers but I'm even more keen on keeping costs down. Badly done Rockhopper, badly done.

    #14 Out of the ambassador's mouth:
    ”They are only 348 miles away from Argentina and they are 8,700 miles away from London. 8,700 miles,” he quipped.

    The imbecile is going back to playing the proximity card. I think we need to claim Cuba is ours and rid it of those pesky Castro boys. I mean afterall, it's only 90 miles off Florida's coast.

    I wonder how this will play out for the falkland islanders themselves? While it is great news for them and their economy. All of a sudden there will be a massive influx of people. Oil workers and all the associated support industries as well. The once peacefull Falkland Islands will be a very crowded place to live.

    The memory of going out and not locking your door will be a very distant one indeed. My only hope is that the FIG can pull off that most delicate and difficult of balancing acts, that is to increase funds without too much disruption to the “ordinary” way of life.

    Good luck guys, god bless.

    Troy....these trolls continue to talk all they want, but regardless of t=what they say, if they are in argentina and they happen to be the working kind of argentines, they see the shit falling out of the sky.
    Now argentines are one step away from needing permission to leave the country

    @22

    Could a town be created near Port William? Not too far away from Stanley but avoiding swamping?

    The Islanders would know best. took me less than a day once to walk along the Camber and over the ridge to its North-I suppose it would depend on the landowner of course.

    @9 True!
    @10 “commonsensical, informed, rational and well-founded English gentleman like you!” Six descriptive words. All wrong.
    @13 Wrong. You're no-one.
    @15 “Scottish gentleman” That's an oxymoron. Or to put it another way. An oxygen-stealing moron.
    @19 Hawaii is 2563 miles from the contiguous United States and has the Union Flag as part of “its” flag. Surely it''s British!
    @22 You should read the article. It helps. The article mentions 75 on-shore workers. “Massive influx”, “crowded”? Couple of thoughts. Shouldn't these people be out working on rigs? How about building “accommodation” on some of the other 776 islands?

    @25
    “How about building “accommodation” on some of the other 776 islands?”

    I guess thats down to the logistic/transport, landowners and how it would impact a still pristine environment-but certainly exciting times for the islanders whilst their neighbours look impotently on with envy,

    Conqueror my point was that distance does not make a ligitmate claim to a chunk of land. As an American, the matter really does not affect us. However, I believe and support the notion that it's Britians rule as long the Islanders want it that way and the RGs have no legitimate nor rightful claim to the island.
    Even if they did havea an historical claim, they lost it in the war.
