North Korea II coming to Argentina soon.
CFK's going to be sooo ronery.
Oct 13th, 2012 - 09:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0The president has also claimed that Argentina is the country with most dollar bills per capita after the US.
Oct 13th, 2012 - 09:26 am - Link - Report abuse 0That is only because Argentinians have no faith in the value their own currency !!!
Pesification of Arg will make the local currency stronger, while decreasing the value of the dollar. Again, a win-win :)

My savings? I invest in happiness, not in papers, an idea you will never grasp, so don't worry about it :)))
Oct 13th, 2012 - 09:42 am - Link - Report abuse 0It is all about trust. No one, with the exception of a few die-hard K fanatics, trusts the government or the Argentine peso. As one Argentine, loyal to CFKC said, 'Yes, she lies all the time but they all do'.
Oct 13th, 2012 - 09:47 am - Link - Report abuse 0People might stand a corrupt politician for a while but when their own security is at stake they are not going to risk their savings on the word of a bi-polar, lying, incompetent. The last crash is too raw in their minds.
CFKC says, 'Trusssst in meeeee.....” as her eyeballs rotate.

It will be interesting to see how the next group of Arg veterans,NOK families, fare when they want USDollars to finance their trip to the Islands!
Oct 13th, 2012 - 10:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0Arg Govt-= you do not need dollars - that place is ours!
Reality(veteran.nok) = well I do as they will not touch an Arg peso there and accept dollars-euros-sterling only.
Arg Govt - well you cannot go, as allowing you to take dollars means us having to recogise there is another govt and people there!
@13 : ) I work. I pay taxes. I also save. I don't expect something for nothing.
Oct 13th, 2012 - 10:19 am - Link - Report abuse 0CFKC certainly is working hard at isolating her 'subjects'.
@1 You're trying to cheer us up, aren't you? No argies allowed to leave the country? Does that mean all argies abroad will also have to be repatriated? And thereafter only allowed out with long leashes attached to their slave collars?
Oct 13th, 2012 - 10:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0@4 Strangely, pestification will have no effect on the dollar. There are 192 nations and argieland in the world. What effect would the cesspit have?
@7 The concept of worrying about you is far beyond me!
@9 Don't be daft. He's still in third grade!
@11 Why does anything you don't understand have to be a trick, Guzzle? Question too difficult for you? Not in the CFK-provided script? Still waiting for the tinpot man to get back to you?
This is the sign of a strong economy eh Duny??? Jajajaja love it , the news just gets better.
Oct 13th, 2012 - 10:27 am - Link - Report abuse 0If Argies want to exchange money into dollars they can come across the river and buy some in Paraguay. Granted they will get the true exchange rate of US$1 = 6.4 Argie Pesos. I see that most Argies enjoy this government subsidy of the Peso and so they are willing to deal with this bs because if not the value of their Peso will plummet.
Oct 13th, 2012 - 11:04 am - Link - Report abuse 0We always blame CFK and her government for what is happening, but in reality it is what the people want. They can't live with their currecy being devalued yet again and so they will continue to deal with her crap because they benefit from it.

Oct 13th, 2012 - 11:13 am - Link - Report abuse 0I hope everyone likes the brown, cold, windy beaches along the Arg coast because CFK basically said no one is to leave the country...wonder how long that will last?
What if you have an export business and you have to travel to sell? Do you close it?
Rumor is they'll soon need permission to leave the country and it's gonna cost $1500 for processing.

Yet one more sign that Kretina's dictatorship is now clamping down on all dollar transactions, so she can squeeze every last one of them out of her citizens before she is forced to leave for her Caribbean retirement island (or strung up by the neck!)
Oct 13th, 2012 - 11:47 am - Link - Report abuse 0How can Argentina expect to do business if their citizens are not able to travel freely to sell Argentine products. Kretina says that they need the dollars to pay for imports and honour foreign debt, but the truth is that they are not 'honouring' foreign debts at all. The money is either stuffed into suitcases for Kretina, or used to buy oil, without which the country would grind to a halt.
It is simply hilarious that Argentina has plenty of oil reserves, but cannot extract it, because no-one trusts them. Oil producers want hard cash, not empty promises. It won't be long before even the oil producers refuse to trade and gasoline/diesel rationing starts. It will be a matter of weeks then before Kretina is strung up or suddenly in permanent residence in Venezuela.
On my recent family vacation, I purposely over spent Dollars in cash without receipts and the Argentinians that received them where obviously going to save that currency for the collapse. Everyone in Chile is amazed that CFK's government has been able to drag out this travesty for such an extended period. The currency should have collapsed 8 months ago.
Oct 13th, 2012 - 12:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 024. I know last time I was there, servers, bartenders etc practically licked my shoes clean in gratitude of getting a U$5 tip.

Yankeeboy,
Oct 13th, 2012 - 01:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Actually, we took a much different attitude as we didn't want to cause resentment either. We all remember a reverse of fortunes when 1 Argentinian Peso was valued at an American Dollar. You are right however about them showing sincere gratitude and the extra service.
I declared several cases of wine and paid Chilean duties upon return. The aduana gave me a huge break (without any bribes) and the taxes were reasonable.
The problem of course is that the Mad Empress is without clothes show is about to be exposed and I cannot imagine the consequences except another economic collapse.
I bet you'd like your arse served on a plate in 40 semanas as well. Hey, they might not tip you, but that's also everything they wont do :)))
Oct 13th, 2012 - 01:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 026. I was as gracious as ever and I appreciated their great service. I learned a long time ago to tip the bartenders at busy discos large amounts with the 1st order so they pay attention to me when I go back to get another. Oct 13th, 2012 - 01:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It was about time the tax man did his job in Argentina with all the tax evasion done by montsanto the bad smell had to hit the fan, I give the Argentine tax man a thumbs up. Its way better to tax your own people then to theft Afghanistan or Iraqi oil. And while Argentina gives the example mr denial pukes his usual trash still from the closet. If Argentina digs really deep they will find that most foreign industries have gone out of their way to not pay taxes. I think there should be a expropiation laws that would allow for Argentina to sell the property for the amount owed to the government. USA and Canada has them laws. And they are not even from America most of them are from Europe. So if someone who is not even from this continent can theft land why couldn't the locals ?? It's islas Malvinas Argentina all over again. Lol the foreigner telling Argentina tax is not good. Move along kids there is nothing to see here. It's Just the typical english bad odour I think Hugo Chavez classified it as sulfur a few years ago at the UN speech and it took me till today to figure it out.

Oct 13th, 2012 - 02:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Stop trying to knit a flag. No one believes it anymore anyway. Argentina is a bankrupt nation. It has run out of money, of trust, of respect and self respect. It has it's ships impounded because it can't pay the bills, it's president cannot go on TV or appear in public without making a fool out of herself and they never EVER stick to an agreement or international law.
The country was, at one time, a peaceful, tanquil garden of eden, TMBOA has turned it into a whorehouse. Now it lies and cheats and steals from it neighbours, or tries to bully them into submission to get it's own way, when it doesn't, it crys and whines like a little child who's mother has said You can't have that last chocolate.
Well, I hope that the lies can keep you warm through the next winter and I hope that you can pay your bills with them, because, the way that it's going, you won't have anything else left to buy food with.
So go on!! Blame the rest of the world for the problems that you brought upon yourselves, try and steal back some of that self respect that ol' turkey neck stole ( along with other things ) from you.
Argentina has proved that there is no honour amongst thieves........
was in argentina last year & during that visit my wife (who is argentine) said it is common to never get a receipt for anything you buy there (even if you ask for one)..i asked why? she said they dont want a record of the transaction where they will have to pay taxes because taxes are high, and inflation is high and folks are trying to maintain their buying power.. anyhow, as an interesting side note: i went shopping there with my wife at a local market, the market didnt have any change (coins), so instead of giving me change for my purchase, i got 3 candies instead.. i thought that was somewhat a novel thing - i guess coins are scarce in the country. the candies were likely not even worth a 1/2 penny.. but i asked my wife if i saved up enough candies could i go back and buy a loaf of bread.. and you likely know what her response to that was haha.. NO.. :)

Oct 14th, 2012 - 01:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Using MercoPress’s archive function I could find six certified Scandinavian speaking posters:
1) ”Mr. Think” , a pure Argie of pure Scandinavian stock.
2) ”Jon Valur Jensson” a bright Icelander pretty much on Argentina’s corner…
3) ”Skare” a Norwegian/Danish hunk, pretty much on the UK’s corner…
4) ”Mr. Guzz”, a left wing Swedish/Uruguayan without a drop of Scandinavian blood in his body; but clearly positioned on the ”Goodies” side…
5) “Mr. StJohn”, a Dane playing for the British team…
6) “Mr. MaxAue”, another Dane playing for the Baddies….
That gives a total of six Scandinavians……
Three on the right side….

As far as the Island to the south here, call it what you want I do not have a dog in the fight and I have no desire to ever go there.
Saying that it is funny to se how this Fascist government (Peronist) is using it to get the focus away from domestic issues, like inflation, dept, declining infrastructure, sidewalks falling to bits, crime and soon to be failed state status. “Forgetting” that they no longer have any military to ever take it back. At the same time the Brits with their own inflation, dept, declining infrastructure, sidewalks falling to bits, crime and soon to be failed state status do not have the military force to ever protect it after scrapping their forces too.
Like I said I do not have a dog in this fight and frankly do not care! But it is funny! Give them bred and circus and they forget who is to blame for their own misery!
Back to the subject of this article...
“Dollar clamp” in Argentina extended to all outgoing tourists”
Having spent 3 years back and forward in the country it is quite amazing to see some people not living there saying it is no clamp down, Queen K is not lying and so on, even more hilarious is that somebody that live here actually support her!
I KNOW about the election and so on, I need no lecture! And frankly it so easy even a joke in Venezuela can do it; steel from the rich and give to the poor and the poor vote for you. And Queen K and Hugo the madman have imported poor from other counties and given them right to vote, come to think of it so has Scandinavian the UK and the US, shit they all are doing it!! jejeje Always works for a while.
But like Maggie said; the problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money to spend! AND THERE is my point; Queen K has nearly reached the stage where there is noth

Only reason the game is not over long time ago is that the rest of the world are not doing to well the last few year either (to put it mildly!).
But in Argentina the game is soon up. You can feel it in the street, see it in the faces and hear it in the voices, most people know “something” is coming soon, and it will not be pretty!
You can fool most of the people sometime, you can fool some of the people all the time, but you can not fool all the people all the time!
Personally I think that when the summer holyday and people can not get USD it will be “interesting” if not before, we have the pot banging coming up, the media law, and the regular daily strikes and struggle.
We certainly are live in interesting times, and Argentina is definitely an interesting place!

I explained some of the differences between Socialism in Europe and South America. Crazy Hugo and Queen K would love to copy Europe’s control, and that is what they try now, just as the Socialist system is crumbling in Europe!
And no, Europe is going down the drain because people come from all over the world to live of the taxes I and the rest of hard working Europeans already have paid.
In Europe you turn up at the door and cry and the government give you all you want, but this system is coming to an end now. The productive people are just cashing out and leaving, no point working so the riff-rafts can live on the benefits.
In Argentina on the other hand, with is the subject of the article it is even worse, because it is a cleptocracy, and that is even less sustainable and coming to an end, soon!

Oct 14th, 2012 - 05:53 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Those countries in Europe that aren't crumbling don't have in common the fact they have higher indeces of blondism, they share VERY conservative banking systems, where banks are supposed to safeguard people's deposits, and lend commercial loans with oversight. NOT engage in anglo-gibberish derivative quantized recursive atelic mereological razzmatazz.
Oct 14th, 2012 - 06:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Odd that the one scandinavian country that did not follow the model above, Iceland, went broke. And they are as blond as any scandos. Or look how the only German banks that failed are also those that adopte the anglo model.
Which proves that countries crumble when their banking system is allowed to gamble away the people's savings and the entire economy.
Even notice in the southern european economie a similar case: the two countries that had banking systems that gambled the House on bets, Spain and Greece, are in far worse social shape (because the banks either failed or need to be rescued on the backs of the people), yet Portugal and especially Italy, while in severe recession, are no where near in a despearate shape socially speaking.
The anglo-saxon banking model was an utter disaster, the dumbest idea ever.

Oct 14th, 2012 - 06:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Forgot to mention that banks going wild was the reason Central Bank structures came into being. While I agree with those laissez-faire types who state central banks are causing the problems today, they should also be intellectually honest in remembering that they exist because before their incipience the private banks had no scruples, and gambled all the people's money away. Banks c=would place bets that were tens of times greater than their assets, and when one failed the whole chain collapsed, and the savings of poor people, who had worked for decades for them, were wiped out (of course, many put their money in matresses). This lead in the 18th and 19th centuries to vicious cycles of boom and bust. The booms seemed amazing, literally an economic high, and people behaved extravagantly. Then a crash came and millions would literally go hungry, and many starved. This cycle would repeat in 5 to 10 year cycles.
Oct 14th, 2012 - 06:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Eventually people got FED up with it, and central banking was seen as a way to reign in the casino.

Failure to report amounts totalling CAN$10,000 or more may result in seizure of the money and penalties of CAN$250 to CAN$5000.
”If you are carrying a total of CAN$10,000 (or its equivalent) or more - in coins, domestic and foreign bank notes, securities such as travellers cheques, stocks and bonds - you must complete a Cross-Border Currency or Monetary Instruments Report - Individual Form E677 (in PDF). If the money is not your own, you should complete Form E667 Cross-Border Currency or Monetary Instruments Report - General (in PDF). The form should be signed and handed to a customs officer.
Completed forms are sent to the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) for assessment and analysis.”

To help fight these criminal activities, the Government of Canada has introduced the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act.
Under the new legislation, there are no restrictions on the amount of money that you can bring into or take out of Canada, nor is it illegal to do so. However, you now have to report to a customs officer amounts equal to or greater than CAN$10,000 that you are bringing into or taking out of Canada.

Pretty much a standard at borders - stops large scale criminal activity, by limiting untraceable cash.
Payments and money transfers can still be done with Credit cards, ATM,
bank drafts, cheques etc.
You are posting partial information to be deliberately misleading.
If you have to lie to make your point, YOUR ARGUMENT IS BASICALLY FLAWED!
We've been over this before, there is no 15% tax on money leaving or entering Canada, like there is in Argentina. There is no spending limit placed on outgoing Canadian tourists, there is no 50% tax on ALL returning goods.
Canadians can transfer/save/buy/sell, any currency in or out of the country, US Dollars or whatever.
We are not forced to save in CDN $$ - in fact they are increasing in value against all other currencies - a safe haven. Argentina has annual inflation of 25% ??
Canadians and Americans can cross whenever they like and as many times as they like, in a year, and buy as much $$$ as they like, whenever they feel like it.
Quote the $10,000 CASH limit as much as you like (are you intimidated by Canadian Authorities?), IT IS NOT AT ALL LIKE ARGENTINA.
US/Mexico is not like Argentina !!!
Of course, ALEX, you know about the Canadian border - if YOU leave, YOU can't come back. Criminal?? Illegal immigrant???
Sitting here in Canada, you are impotent, and obsessed with the border.
Yet you won't even occupy the Ghanian High Commission offices in Toronto, the way you were inciting the people of BA to stage an illegal sit-in, at the consulate there.

Oct 15th, 2012 - 08:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0Are there paid trolls on this site? I have not been here long enough to know, but that Queen K’s minions troll the net and get paid are a know fact. I would think a site like this will be a prime target for said operatives.
On the flip side, are there Scandinavians that could be mistaken for (Argie) government paid trolls? Obviously! Shit, the amount of brainwashed people in that part of the world run in the millions, millions! So there are probably genuine Scandinavians here that think Queen K’s madness is completely rational, and even good policy! Trying to hold an argument about economy with a socialist is near impossible because socialism like its watermelon offshoot, environmentalist, is a faith, a religion not a political point of view.
@143Why leave a comfortable socialist country where you do not even have to work if you do not want to? Some of us see socialism as an evil parasitical and unsustainable system and decide that we will have no part of it and leave. Some places you can leave, like Europe, some places like North Korea and Cuba you can’t. Me I really like Argentina, it is actually more European than Europe! The “socialism” here is not socialism like in Europe, like I said earlier it is a cleptocracy! The people here I do not find arrogant at all, but then I have lived a few years in France, jeje.
@130The problem is the politicians and especially the current regime, they have destroyed the middle class and now there is hardly anything left to steel so they start to get despe

As regards to the actual thread, I hope the people of Argentina wake up soon, and stop this government before they take total control of the whole country and curb all civil liberties.

Oct 15th, 2012 - 02:04 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Yes, you had a horrible time there, does that lone fact signify your opinion does not count? You would probably answer with no.
Ergo... if you had heard good/neutral things hitherto, could it be possible, just possible, those people were also being honest? Or does their opinion not count to you, or are they mere fibs, because they juxtapose incongruosly with the anti-argie narrative here?
Actually i wasn't totally honest, i forgot that the people of other Latin American countries told me they don't like Argentinians when i asked.

#177 I've been to Argentina often and it's not that bad. It's the leaders and peronists that need to be eliminated. As one of the trolls said in another post, the child that goes by pirate hunter, the common argentine has no savings and he was correct......asslips kirchner made sure of that. Oct 15th, 2012 - 03:48 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@175, No I do not find the French arrogant, but they have a reputation for being arrogant if you do not speak French (I do), and like I said I have spent many years living in France and like it there. I was being Stereotypical ;) I would say that most French are proud to be French, and I see no problem with that. And I know most people say the Argentineans are arrogant but I have not really had any problem with that, YMMV.
Oct 15th, 2012 - 03:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0As for Argentina it is a banana republic, and will always be. Personally I like it like that, it makes life more interesting! Most things work now and then but when you wake up you never knows what the day will bring. Maybe you have a power cut, maybe a riot. Crossing 9th of July in a car migth suddenly take a day because there is a major strike in town. Busses suddenly stop; subway goes on strike for a week, even the kids in school are striking today! One night the border patrol raid every bar in town, the next day they go on strike and close of their own headquarter. Shit, it is more adventure in a week than you get in most countries in a lifetime! You can write a book and people would not believe it.
But the current Looney Tunes that run the place are as bad as it can possibly be before collapsing. I think only Crazy Hugo can up them! And this regime it is definitively coming to an end, but they will not go quietly. I got popcorn and beer ready!
A president can always justify circumventing the law as a leader. All they need to do is require an application and a waiting period for travel abroad, with an exorbinant fee.

I advised them to register with the embassy here from South Africa, since there is no embassy to Ghana here and the South African embassy handles affairs for their country. There is a lot of hostility towards foreigners now, especially from the UK, USA and now Ghana. The streets here are very scary, now the big cacerolazo is planned for November 8th and the 7 of December is the day Kretina is going to try and expropiate Clarin they say that the days between November 8th and December 7th are going to be very dangerous, I am trying to get out of Buenos Aires, I contact colleagues in other countries, but I don't know if I can get the money to get away. If I can't I will hide inside on those days like a lot of other people.

The Puritans didn't leave Britain to escape persecution, they left because they weren't allowed to persecute people anymore (like they did under the dictatorship of Oliver Cromwell).
But lets put this into perspective. What has Argentina ever contributed to the world except the biro (an excellent invention).
Here's some of the things the British have contributed:
Computers
The world wide web
Vaccines
Telephones
Television
Antiseptics
Antibiotics
Industrialisation
Plastic surgery
Heart transplants
The concept of innocent until proven guilty
Trial by a jury of 12
The jet engine
Ejector seats
Water desalination
Modern sewerage and drainage systems (every major city in the world has a sewerage system based on London)
Steam engines
1st acurate atomic clock
Marine chronometer (which allows ships to navigate)
Pencils
Christmas cards
Valentines day cards
Radar
Typewriters
Automated Teller Machines and Personal Indentification Numbers
Fibre-optics in telecoms
DNA fingerprinting
Fingerprinting
World's 1st DNA database
Iris recognition
Microchips (for computers not McCains)
Universal joint
Adjustable spanners
Fire extinguishers
Postage stamps
The modern flusing toilet
Stainless steel
CT Scanner
1st blood transfusion
Discovered nitrous oxide and its use as an anaesthetic
In fact the list is so long that I could go on all day.
Think about it PH, next time you get a vaccination, or take antibiotics, you have the British to thank for it. Next time you turn on your computer and log on to the internet, you can thank the British.
Next time you get on an aeroplane and look at the jet engine, you can thank the British.
You can also thank the US for they have also made huge contributions to the world, but Argentina its the biro and some joint research on the cross matching of blood.
As for your last paragraph, amusing - I can be funny too. Why can Argentinians swim? Because their ships always sink.

Oct 17th, 2012 - 06:02 am - Link - Report abuse 0When a government stops its people from freely buying dollars to leave the country (whether on holiday or business) and have dogs specially trained to sniff out dollars then you know there is a dollar clamp.
You also know that the government are restricting the civil liberties of its own people.
You would understand this if you actually lived in Argentina instead of in Canada.
Most countries in the world have a cap of about £10,000 dollars. And the only part of your post that is partially correct is the bit about preventing illegal dealings. You see, PH, honest business dealings are done by electronic money transfers.
However, unlike Canada it other countries, Argentina has severely restricted the amount of dollars people can buy, AND they make the process of acquiring those dollars extremely difficult and overly complicated.
Encouraging people to holiday in Argentina is fine, but the Argentine government are FORCING people to holiday in Argentina, once again curbing their civil rights to choose for themselves.
Tell me PH, if you love Argentina so much why don't you go and live there? Why do you live in Canada? It's easy to support a government and it's policies when you don't have to live under that governments rule.
Go and lie in Argentina for a while, then come back Otis forum and tell us whether it's the land of milk and honey.

Oct 17th, 2012 - 06:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sorry to contradict you, but an Englishman called Francis Galton (a cousin of Charles Darwin!) invented fingerprinting? He was an anthropologist and a polymathy.
Did the Argentines actually invent anything?
Just saw the photo of PH, Axel what ever his name his. Love his dress sense, what is he wearing? Looks like the uniform of the Argentine Special Farces!!!!
Oct 17th, 2012 - 07:26 pm - Link - Report abuse 0and no, Farces is not a typing error.
No worries LEPRecon. I can handle being wrong, I'm not argentine. He, the argentine police actually expanded on Galton. That was back when the police in BA was nt corrupt, nnot the government and argentina was actually a pillar of the world. Now look at it, melted into bull semen.
