    OMG.....
    Let this story rest.....
As far as I remember the British Rock/Pop scene, you will end incarcerating every single of its survivors for shagging all those willing Groupies.
Sir Mick Jagger would get, at least a couple of million years behind bars!
Not to mention Sir Paul McCartney!

JS is a particularly revolting article and deserves vilification. I doubt the vulnerable children he targeted in children's homes, or the young patients in hospital could be classed as groupies. Whoever was running the institutions and gave him access to victims have a lot to be ashamed of.

I do object to the media bashing the BBC constantly. Apparently every single newspaper knew of the rumours about him and never pursued it. What happened to the great investigative journalism we know so well? Were they all busy hacking minor celebrity phones?

Describing them as “willing groupies” means you haven't followed the story at all.

I met Saville back in the 80's - fortunately it was on a public cricket pitch with thousands of people milling about.

Louis Theroux made a documentary about him roughly 10 years ago and you were left with the impression there was something not right about him. Reminded me of the interview with Michael Jackson.

The most shocking part is that so many knew and so many more had suspicions and yet nothing was ever done about it.

    You say:
“The most shocking part is that so many knew and so many more had suspicions and yet nothing was ever done about it.”

    I say:
    You mean like in Pitcairn?
And a certain South Atlantic BOT' I will leave unnamed for the moment?

The govt propagandists are corrupt and facilitate child molestation. As Mises said “government is the negation of liberty”. Those of you suffering under wicked witch CFK should know that.

For Think and all the other Argentine posters:

This story is more than a month old. These allegations are now being investigated.

No doubt you are on here to try and score cheap points in the hope of distracting people from the situation Argentina is facing.

Sadly incidents like this happen in every country in the world, and it is a travesty.

Well I'm a Penn State grad so I can't talk right now /shiver/. But yes, this is old and while I loathe the smugness of the Beeb, I know what it's like to wake up and fund that you've been living in a glass house with your “betters” covering for scum. And for those lapping this up. beware of the protected monster that may be living next door to YOU. We all ready know about the Catholic Church sex scandals and what goes underreported are the ones in the more decentralized protestant denominations (I can't remember the numbers but they are near par with the Rome's coverup).

    @7 - Gustbury

You seem to be taking inordinate joy of the abuse of children.

It is a terrible thing that unfortunatley happens in every country in the world, even yours.

Perhaps you should take your glee and take a good look in the mirror at the awful person that you are.

    @4 Think

A case of child abuse has recently come to light in Argentina too, of people taping the mouths of babies shut to stop them crying.

Does that mean all Argentinians are to blame?

Like gustbury, take a good look in the mirror at yourself. A man who finds glee in reports of child abuse.

People like you make me sick.

LEP people make me sick too.Different reason though. You know those who give to charity and think that is wonderful. Its the same as people who give chocolates as a thank you for helping them but won't help you when they could.
As I understand this saville matter, its on going and widening. Is that not so LEP?

I saw some of that documentry and ended up thinking “Is this really the same guy I saw on the TV?” You are right, there seemed to be something “wrong” about him

As for our friends in Argentina, you are all Catholic's arn't you? You go in for all of that Holy Mary stuff don't you? well, I would then invite you to read the post @ 8. what GFace has written BEFORE you start mud-slinging.

    11# & 8#
You are saying Brit peadophiles are not as bad as catholic peadophiles?
You might think but I disagree.
And the issue in this case is the length of time it spanned and the number of people, who lacked moral sensitivity, that covered it up or kept quiet for their own selfish purpose, which ever you want.
And you claim the British people are a cut above South Americans ? Huh.

@14 Stop making stuff up. I think I made it clear that I see no difference in the Beeb's, Penn State's, the Church's (catholic or protestant) and now it seems the US Boy Scouts. Glass houses, like predators, are everywhere. Watch where you throw your rocks, and keep an eye on your kids (and not everyone else's from your supposed high horse).

Trust the malvinistas to try to make mileage out of this.
Child molesters in ANY country should be executed.
At once, no attempts at rehabilitation. Boum!

16# what was your point. Was it that every country experiences similar crimes.Does that mean that the years of abuse this man delivered should be accepted as something that occurs all over the world.Or do you think that there are questions specific to this matter and lessons to be learned, and that raising possible cases elsewhere is to detract from the real issue. You are an explanation of the actions and cover-up that assisted this man in his long career of abuse.
And Isolde should continue to read the Devon papers rather than wasting your time criticising people who highlight the disgraceful behaviour of this man.Your assertion that all peadophiles should be executed are empty words. You know your views have no relevance outside your own area.

#3 “What happened to the great investigative journalism we know so well? Were they all busy hacking minor celebrity phones?”

For once, a b*tchy Elaine barb I wholeheartedly endorse =) Keep dripping your acid on real villains, not beauties you're jealous of =)

#5 Rubbish, its the crusty right wing establishment that's been shown up here (one made even more craven by the totally false Blair orchestrated Hutton report of course!), the same kind of people who hate Cristina and all she stands for
