The next Argentinian govt. will adopt a far less confrontational stance so open the door for cooperation in oil production in this region.

The future is starting to look a lot more positive.

I hope you're right about the next Argentine government. Unfortunately they'll be inheriting an economic mess, curtesy of the current 'Dear Leader' and they may just revert to form, and start sabre rattling.

Whether the Argentine people will be fooled by yet more nationalist jingoism is yet to be seen, but the current Argentine government has shown the world that Argentina is a toothless tiger, so I doubt it will make much difference to the oil companies drilling around the Falklands.

But it would be beneficial to the Argentine people to stop squabbling and start cooperating with other, including the Falkland Islands.

#2 Haven't you seen the attitude of the oil company in the article, and the Falklanders on these boards. Its not Cristina that is being uncomromising and unreasonable, and no dignified Argentine leader could do otherwise. Btw, in the civilised world we don't like hedge funds...

I don't mind sabre rattling from Argentina. It's like having a toddler: when they're running around screaming then you know that they're OK, it's when they're quiet, that's when they're drawing on the walls...

“Btw, in the civilised world we don't like hedge funds...”

BTW, the “civilised world” is owned by hedge funds.

“Its not Cristina that is being uncomromising and unreasonable,”

*cough cough cough choke laugh cough*

SO, the Falklands ask to sit down and talk with Argentina and your “shes not uncompromising and unreasoanble” leader says what? “yes, of course!” or does she completely and utterly ignore them...in, what an unbiased observer might call, an uncompromising and unreasoanble fashion?

(or is this “yet another” re-write of history...the modus operandi of choice for supporters of the unreasoanble and uncompromising)

    :-0

    ----

“#2 Haven't you seen the attitude of the oil company in the article, and the Falklanders on these boards.”

The Falklands Islanders I have seen and read on these forums an eslewhere are almost unconditionally open, friendly and honest, upbeat about their future, secure in their resolution and firm in their belief that any right-minded supporter of self-determination will support their legitimate freedoms and inheritance.

On the other hand, a lot of the Argentine & British posters are, by their actions and comments; idiots, racists, xenophobes, arrogant and delusional to the extremes.

One can only hope that the Falklands Islanders run a strict imiigration policy when they gain their inevitable independence down the line and innevitably become a sovereign nation.

    ---

As to the companies: they report to their shareholders, its never been any different and as the article suggests they really are not in the slightest bit phased by “legal threats” from outside sources that, with all due respect to the nation of Argentina (and little to its current government) are the source of their own worst ills.

Follow the succesful money: invest in the Falklands...they are a reality, not a political pipe-dream used to prop up a failing populist goverment.

I can't see there ever being another deal to share revenues from oil in Falklands waters. Too many bridges have been burnt. Now they are developing a deepwater port there is no need for it - and why would or should they??

@3 The important thing will be a so far undemonstrated argie attribute - honesty! Look at the argie track record. Default. Debt. Offer peanuts. Refuse to pay those who wouldn't accept peanuts. Steal. Ignore court judgements. Ignore own constitution. Lie. Prevaricate. Bluster. Attempt political “arm-twisting”. Have I missed anything? To my mind, the only people who are relatively safe from repeatedly demonstrated argie attributes are those who are capable and willing to bomb argieland into submission. For example, would argieland dare cheat and lie and steal with China?
@6 Semantic analysis says you said NOTHING. Quit wasting people's time. The situation is simple. The Falkland Islands belong to the Islanders. The Islanders right to self-determination is enshrined in the UN Charter. Britain respects that. Argieland doesn't. Britain is the UN-recognised Administering Authority, responsible for ensuring good governance. Britain also takes responsibility for foreign relations and defence. The Islanders have said that they do not want sovereignty negotiations with argieland. Britain is committed to that. Argieland has been lying about ownership since 1820. There is NOTHING in the Falklands Archipelago for argieland. At one time, the Islanders offered the hand of co-operation and friendship. The argies spat in their faces. The British will not see that happen again. Best option is for argies to start grovelling. I'm willing to be corrected but I've only come across one Argentine poster with brain, honesty and a mind. The rest are mindless scum. They get what they deserve. Appeasement doesn't work. We learned that in 1939. What is wrong with telling a belligerent, criminal, dishonest, genocidal, mendacious, psychotic, racist, xenophobic bunch of thieves that we are ready to beat them shitless again?

Which civilized world is this? Because all of the economic powerhouses are pretty much run by hedge funds/wealth trusts and mutual funds.

Maybe thats why we don't like them! We want them off our back! Though you are right the Falklanders are better on these boards than many of the Brits, and also two Argies. Though I can see a slight logical problem with “One can only hope that the Falklands Islanders run a strict imiigration policy” to keep them “almost unconditionally open” =)

I think Argentina should build a nuclear defense program and create an import tax of 50% to be charged from every nations giving refuge and help to vulture funds and british illegal aliens illegally occupying Islas Malvinas Argentina. Oil rigs can easily blow up and burn, it is just matter of time.

Pirat - thanks to CFK you are importing shag all at the moment so how will taxing 50% of nothing benefit you? You are rather slow.

Want to make money they acuqire RKH equity gradually until first oil and short sell the arse out of imploding Argentina. Unfortuantly the spread bet opperators know the outcome so the pickings are not as good as could be wanted. Still funny though!

#20 thanks for the advise but I think a nuclear defense program 100% made in Argentina and a 50% import tax on every nation helping the vulture or the illegal aliens occupying Islas Malvinas Argentina will be better then any advise you offer.

Argentina as a nation is DEAD. The world has shut it out and ignores it.
The Argentine people don't live, they simply exist. I can tell you first hand I live here in Buenos Aires, and this is the scariest, darkest time of my life. If my prayers are answered, next year I will move to the USA and will never set foot in this disaster of a country again - goodbye forever Argentina, I won't miss you and the only thing you cause people is death, destruction and nightmares!

@24 - Still play with your pissing in the wind chemistry set i see - I'll tell you a secret Pirat-Hunter - Your country is not capable of building a nuclear defense program, it doesn't have the money or the know how, let alone the infacstruture needed. Plus, as your in the middle of a nuclear free zone, you would be thrown out of all region bodies like Unsaur, Mercosur and all your friednly neighbours who also signed up to the same treaty will likely deem you as a threat to themselves, and will therefore, like invade you and remove the threat before you even have the chance to complete the nuclear program. Thats if, off course, the USA and/or UK don't take any decisive action to prevent you getting nuclear weapons as neither country will risk you having them given your history, the UK certainly will not, given the risk you pose to the falkland islands and what happened in 1982.

As for the 50% importation tax, well you do realise that will more than likely back fire on you as most coutries will simply sell their goods elsewhere to other nations or simply import them via a 3rd party nation. Not to mention it coursing the pull out off numerous global countries and the liquidation of home grounf argentine countries due to not being able to import goods needed - Oh wait thats already happing now as a result of the stupid import restrictions and dollar clamp.

Bye Bye Argentina, a default is coming in the next 12 months!

@30 you clearly don't know about world economics and finances do you! You see the UK pays it's debts, therefore china doesn't even own a single 0.00000000001% of the UK.

Where as argentina on the other hand is as a result of default nad subsquent refusal to repay its debts, having its assets taken from it. Look at the libetard, thats the first asset to be liberated from argentina lol - Oh and argentina is more in chinas hands then the UK ever will be!

Practically everything except your impotent 'diapers' jet trainer for your armed forces is imported including the spare parts.
So that the UK forces don't even have to laugh at your military please put the import tax up to 100% if you like-(oh I forget the Pampers Jet trainer doesn't have an Argentine jet engine-so that woulsbe fecked by an import tax-go right ahead Mr Pirate.
